Highest chart exclusions
Lol! It would be interesting to see that definition of a "hit" applied to chart history! And just for the record, I remember Smiley Faces and like it....and let's not forget they have a current Top 40 hit too.

Highest chart exclusions
Spare a thought for poor Daniel Powter who is currently consigned to the one hit wonder category due to a chart exclusion. His follow up, Free Loop contained a version of Bad Day, and as the latter was still charting, his second single was removed from the charts!

I think this has just been done on "Pop on Trial" on TV.

Highest chart exclusions
And, as a small addition to this......"Jack Your Body" by Steve Silk Hurley SHOULD (according to chart rules at the time) have been excluded from the chart for an overlong running time. For some reason however, it wasn't and made No.1.

What's came out of 00s so far?
Lol, yeah sure okay. I should know better now than to argue with a fan on these forums over logic and fact. Just one question....is Wings the same as the Beatles??? One of the members is the same after all.....
-
What's came out of 00s so far?
 Well lets be honest....only one member has survived. They are barely the same band.

Could This Be The Download Campaign That Finally Works?
I think the most successful one of these campaigns so far was "Honey To The B" By Billie wasn't it?

The Answer to the "Girls Aloud" debate.
Is this debate still going on? I think my statement about Girls Aloud fans being hardcore is being proved quite well! As for the "single" issue, as I have stated before, by definition, it is a SINGLE track on whatever media it happens to be on (The word SINGLE is the giveaway here), whether it was vinyl, CD, cassette or download. Granted most come packaged with B-sides and remixes but this is purely incentive to buy the single track released by the record company. The Girls Aloud track in question HAS been OFFICIALLY released by the record company, otherwise I would imagine Apple would be on the end of a rather hefty lawsuit right now. Promotion is not a question here....there has never been a stipulation in the charts that a record must be promoted to make the chart. But, I would also imagine that there WOULD be a clause in any "record books" that the track was a "download only" track and may not ruin this increasingly meaningless record that particular board members seem desperate to cling on to. I'd imagine none of the members of the band or their management would lose any sleep if the record came to an end!! I do not either hate nor like Girls Aloud, but personally I would find it hysterical if their next "official" release missed the top ten after all this furore! :P

Worst Case Scenario - the hoosiers?
eh?? Where did you read "awful" in my post?!?
-
The Answer to the "Girls Aloud" debate.
Which leads to another question.....what exactly IS a single?? As i said in another thread, isn't a single just a "single" track.....therefore download surely would count???
-
The Answer to the "Girls Aloud" debate.
Although referring to the discussion on the first page....if you buy into the whole "unofficial releases don't count" argument, the Beatles would have had 11 consecutive. Also I believe Westlife hold the record for most consecutive Top 5 hits.
-
The Answer to the "Girls Aloud" debate.
Fair enough, but I don't think there are many people slating them for managing to chart a song without ANY publicity or a video....! Surely it's a testament to their popularity that they can chart songs in this manner. And I'm sure each member is pocketing a nice bit of cash from the sales of St Trinians so don't shed too many tears for them, eh? :P
-
The Answer to the "Girls Aloud" debate.
Why turn this into a personal war against Girls Aloud? It's simply a discussion on chart records. I already acknowledged in the other thread the Beatles situation so can't we just let it lie and see what happens if another Guinness Book is released. It doesn't matter greatly anyway because Madonna (I believe) holds the ACTUAL record for consecutive Top 10 hits. Girls Aloud will only be mentioned if you start watering down the feat to individual TYPES of acts. Jeeze you fans are really hardcore aren't you?!!?
-
Worst Case Scenario - the hoosiers?
Maybe people aren't interested because it doesn't rip off the melody of a 60s/70s song like their previous two singles! :P
