Sunday Chart Predictions
No logic...just blind fandom I'm afraid. She definitely doesn't "need" it. She is a multi millionairess megastar so hardly needs the song to be No.1.

Sunday Chart Predictions
I reckon it's being bought by mistake by people wanting Basshunter! :P

Sunday Chart Predictions
I just think it shows how weak the physical market is. There is no longer a massive injection of sales on physical release day as the real fans will have already downloaded it and will by the CD in a more casual manner.

Sunday Chart Predictions
Possibly, although she should have benefitted most from Monday's sales given that was her first day of physical release.

I bet she can't wait!

BTW Mikey, it's Chris Martin on the Kanye track, not Chris Brown.

The only reason that Adele is doing so well is people getting confused when trying to download the Snow Patrol song :P :D

Someone please translate the above statement for me!!

LOL. How True. Reminds me very much of Corrinne Bailey Rae to be honest and her chart career has been somewhat underwhelming since "Put Your Records On".

The Answer to the "Girls Aloud" debate.
Is this debate still going on? I think my statement about Girls Aloud fans being hardcore is being proved quite well! As for the "single" issue, as I have stated before, by definition, it is a SINGLE track on whatever media it happens to be on (The word SINGLE is the giveaway here), whether it was vinyl, CD, cassette or download. Granted most come packaged with B-sides and remixes but this is purely incentive to buy the single track released by the record company. The Girls Aloud track in question HAS been OFFICIALLY released by the record company, otherwise I would imagine Apple would be on the end of a rather hefty lawsuit right now. Promotion is not a question here....there has never been a stipulation in the charts that a record must be promoted to make the chart. But, I would also imagine that there WOULD be a clause in any "record books" that the track was a "download only" track and may not ruin this increasingly meaningless record that particular board members seem desperate to cling on to. I'd imagine none of the members of the band or their management would lose any sleep if the record came to an end!! I do not either hate nor like Girls Aloud, but personally I would find it hysterical if their next "official" release missed the top ten after all this furore! :P

Worst Case Scenario - the hoosiers?
eh?? Where did you read "awful" in my post?!?

The Answer to the "Girls Aloud" debate.
Which leads to another question.....what exactly IS a single?? As i said in another thread, isn't a single just a "single" track.....therefore download surely would count???

The Answer to the "Girls Aloud" debate.
Although referring to the discussion on the first page....if you buy into the whole "unofficial releases don't count" argument, the Beatles would have had 11 consecutive. Also I believe Westlife hold the record for most consecutive Top 5 hits.

The Answer to the "Girls Aloud" debate.
Fair enough, but I don't think there are many people slating them for managing to chart a song without ANY publicity or a video....! Surely it's a testament to their popularity that they can chart songs in this manner. And I'm sure each member is pocketing a nice bit of cash from the sales of St Trinians so don't shed too many tears for them, eh? :P

The Answer to the "Girls Aloud" debate.
Why turn this into a personal war against Girls Aloud? It's simply a discussion on chart records. I already acknowledged in the other thread the Beatles situation so can't we just let it lie and see what happens if another Guinness Book is released. It doesn't matter greatly anyway because Madonna (I believe) holds the ACTUAL record for consecutive Top 10 hits. Girls Aloud will only be mentioned if you start watering down the feat to individual TYPES of acts. Jeeze you fans are really hardcore aren't you?!!?

Sunday Chart Predictions
I apologize if discussing the charts on a chart forum is getting boring for you...perhaps you have chosen the wrong place to post?? Once again, I reiterate...the Guinness book will DEFINITELY include St Trinians. No doubt about it. It records the chart and the song has entered the chart.

And you don't see Westlife fans moaning about it!

But since the 1st January 2007, the Top 75 has been a "song" chart, not a singles chart anymore. It's not a question of us "grasping" it, thats just the way it is now. The point we are discussing here is whether Guinness will count the song or not. Anyway, surely the definition of "single" is a "single track"....whatever medium it is released on. Guinness are hardly likely to exclude all songs that did not have a physical release from their records as they would end up with Top 75 charts each week with about 10 places excluded. Your point is true that Girls Aloud have not ruined their run of "physical singles" but the physical single is becoming less and less relevant now and future records may not even have a footnote to acknowledge physical release. This situation has occured in the past, although on a massively reduced scale with "import only" singles and (in the case of the Beatles) old songs resurfacing and being released without their express permission, all combining to ruin record breaking runs, so don't feel too bad :)

Sunday Chart Predictions
Without wishing to rain on your parade, I can guarantee that Guinness WILL count St Trinians as it has already charted in the Top 75. Consider this: would you include the song in the "consecutive run" if it had made Top 10 on download alone???

Sunday Chart Predictions
lol. You a fan by any chance? Unfortunately the run of Top 10 singles has been broken unless you start adding in various "clauses" to the record....ie, they must have had a physical release etc.... Nevertheless it is a testament to the band that they have a strong enough fanbase to chart an album cut/download only single with little publicity. It will be very difficult for ANY band to have an "unbroken" run of top 10/20 chart hits now because if a band/singer is popular enough to have one of these "runs" of hits, they will undoubtedly place album tracks in the chart when a new album is released (see Mika, Arctic Monkeys, Westlife etc...)

Worst Case Scenario - the hoosiers?
Maybe people aren't interested because it doesn't rip off the melody of a 60s/70s song like their previous two singles! :P

The novelty song is called "I fought the Lloyds" BTW, and is apparently a protest song over bank charges....lol

Sunday Chart Predictions
It will be unfortunate if Britney's shameful recent behaviour has hyped the single to No.1. Still, guess it works for Amy Winehouse and Pete Doherty.

I reckon it had probably shifted around 250k by the end of the first full day of release, so definitely putting Leon in the shade.
