Though to be fair its not a re-working, just a sample.
  6. What does the pink highlighting signify?
  7. Why not? Negative opinions are just as valid as the long string of Rihanna-loving posts the boards are inundated with lately. And I'd just like to add that I also think Umbrella is one of the worst songs to ever be No.1 and I have done since I first heard it.
  8. Wasn't Umbrella No.1 a month (maybe 3 weeks) before release? In which case No.65 looks pretty poor in comparison.

I think they will be the new Bananarama

I don't agree. I think that the fact the songs were featured in movies contributed very little to their success. Otherwise every box office smash would have a No.1 single to it's name. In fact, in the case of Bryan Adams and (I think) Wet Wet Wet, the inclusion of the song on the film soundtrack may have been a small hindrance as it was the only place other than the single you could get the song. Umbrella is No.1 mainly due to the lack of high selling materials at the moment. Initially No.1 on merit (though I fail to see the merit of the dire single myself), the last 4 or 5 weeks have been pretty much by default, hence the fact that she has still not sold as many copies as a lot of late-90s chart toppers sold in one week.
  11. People will be buying the CD as in previous years. Its about the only CD single that sells in the US.

Also, to McFly's credit, whenever they do release a cover, it is ALWAYS as a double-A side, coupled with an original song.

I agree. I am not quite sure where all the venom against McFly comes from on this message board. Some people are so blinkered that unless Shakira or Beyonce or Sophie-Ellis-Bextor or anyone of the other numerous acts that seem to constantly be championed on this chart discussion forum is at No.1 they slag off the act in question. I guess it is because most of the readers are teenage boys that feel the need to slate boy bands - even ones that are in their position because of singing, performing and writing talent and a loyal fan base.

This is the list of the only songs to drop lower than No.9 straight from No.1: 2007 - MyFly - Baby's Coming Back : 1->20 2005 - Elvis Presley - One Night/I Got Stung : 1->20 2005 - Elvis Presley - It's Now Or Never : 1->14 1958 - Harry Belafonte - Mary's Boy Child : 1->12 2005 - Elvis Presley - Jailhouse Rock : 1->10 1984 - Flying Pickets - Only You : 1->10 Its an unfortunate record to have for a song that is neither limited edition or seasonal, but it just goes to show how the physical market (McFly's main sales) currently is. A few weeks ago, the Manic Street Preachers would have been on the list if only physical sales were counted.
  15. Never understood why a song can be No.1 on the main singles chart (Akon) and not be No.1 on the R&B only chart. The Billboard charts are so convoluted.
  16. Looks like Gwen's Sweet Escape is destined never to be No.1 anywhere!!

Candle In The Wind spent ages in the chart in Canada. According to wikipedia, it spent 3 years in the Top 20 including 45 weeks at No.1
  21. Have you any indication of sales figures? I love reading the Canada sales! I read in the Guiness Book of Records that U2 got to No.1 after selling 85 copies!
