It didn't because it only sold 571,253 all week.

Lol unlikely. The drones that have sat through months of mindless X-factor would buy Ernie The fastest Milkman In the West if Gareth G....I mean Leon Jackson was singing it. :P

Interesting also to note that Melua and Cassidy were not even listed odds in the betting for the "Christmas No.2". Wonder if any far sighted punters managed to get a bet on it?

Think what you like about Westlife, but they certainly shift albums this time of year.

Fair enough. I was just wondering why anyone would be so keen to cheer on such an obvious and manufactured No.1.

Sunday Chart Predictions
I'm surprised that a relatively obscure Perry Como track is outselling John Lennon! Still waiting for Jona Lewie, Paul McCartney, Greg Lake, The Darkness and Elton John to put in appearances.... I wonder if Abba will get a hit with "Happy New Year" after nearly 30 years?

Who Should Be Number 1?
Leona should be Number 1 because she has sold the most this week

Christmas singles that should have been huge!

Sunday Chart Predictions
In addition to the ones listed I would expect to see Paul McCartney "Wonderful Christmas Time", John Lennon "Happy Xmas", Mud "Lonely This Christmas", Boney M "Mary's Boy Child", Jona Lewie "Stop The Cavalry", Greg Lake "I Believe I Father Christmas", Johnny Mathis "When A Child Is Born" and the various Band Aids....phew!

Any chance of a quick run-down on how Christmas is starting to make it's presence felt in the charts??

Sunday Chart Predictions
You'll be lucky....it's becoming quite a chore wading through the children's posts rowing about how great Girls Aloud etc are and how awful McFly etc are.... Shame because there are a lot of people with a lot of interesting things to say on this forum.

I think that this has proved that bands cannot just make a "comeback" based on their previous success. They need to provide some quality material of the calibre of Take That's album to have any chart success this time round. The days of instant No.1's based on a band/singers "reputation" are over thanks to downloads. Look at all the artists who have underperformed with comeback singles recently.....All Saints, Kylie and now Spice Girls. It is good that we are now a more intelligent record buying public that want to hear good music rather than buy a CD with our favourite artists name on it.

I would imagine that it is unlikely to climb during the week and may therefore miss the Top 10 altogether....

wikipedia, fastest selling albums
Isn't this missing Oasis at No.1???

Plus I'm sure that is a lot more units shifted than some acts that have record deals.

I don't see what people's problems are with McFly. I think most people on here just blindly lash out at any boyband in some kind of chart snobbery.
-
Sunday Chart Predictions
Well to be fair, 40,000 people are interested.
