  1. Have you any indication of sales figures? I love reading the Canada sales! I read in the Guiness Book of Records that U2 got to No.1 after selling 85 copies!

True. In fact the US charts have picked up a little with the advent of downloads. Fall Out Boy went in at No.2 the other week thanks to downloads so I suppose there is life in the old dog yet :)

Yes we are unlikely to have a great amount of new entries in the Top 10 anymore, but this week we don't even have any new songs climbing into the Top 10. The new rules have finally managed to slow down the chart, lets hope it doesn't die a slow death like the US Billboard 100.

They are enjoying their biggest selling album EVER, i think their fanbase has matured to the point where they are happy owning the album and don't require every piece of material they release.

Thanks for the update. Its been a while since we had no new songs in the Top 10 hasn't it? (outside of christmas/new year week)

    Never mind

Persuade you about what? I'm not trying to talk you into anything...it's the way the charts works like it or not!

Not really because in the second option you don't necessarily have to download ALL the tracks. You just download the ones you like. Therefore it makes sense that these count towards a single song popularity chart.

So do I. The passengers on my bus don't like it but tough.

Well...Mika still outsold the Kaisers by quite a margin. Kaisers managed 26,000, Mika 55,000 (I think) If the Chiefs raise their game to even 35,000 then Mika need quite a drop off to fall to No.2. Possible but unlikely, especially as the kaisers may find sales tailing off a bit until the physical release due to the nature of their fanbase.

Not THE Chipz?!?!? I can't wait for their album!
  12. Thanks Mikey. Bit more useful than "no" :D
  13. Well go on then, tell me what other there have been

If they do, they should remix it slightly to get away from the fact it the intro sounds exactly like the Cutting Crew song.
  15. Is Mika's Lollipop the first album-only track (previously unreleased as a single and not scheduled for release) to make the chart?

Lollipop gets a new entry on today's chart though.....maybe a rethink?
  17. Mika and Just Jack were 3 & 4 repectively on 20 Jan. :)
  18. What, in the name of all that is holy, is Loco Loco by Mosquito?!!?

An interesting case from the 80s....in the US, Careless Whisper was credited to "Wham featuring George Michael"....now who do we file that under?!? :P
  20. Brutarn posted a post in a topic in International Charts
Well possibly. Personally I would consider it a duet, but I suppose so many US hits have 5000 featured artists on them nowadays that the line has been blurred a little. I mean would you consider "Beyonce featuring Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams" a solo hit for Beyonce?

Nice to see you understand sarcasm - my point being that Destinys Child were little more than a vehicle for Beyonce. And I suppose Sean Paul (featured artist on Baby Boy - therefore not a "solo" hit) is just a growth out of Beyonces rear end is he? <Again...that is sarcasm>

    And the difference is? :P

I thought Beyonces biggest hit was Independent Women - 12 weeks at No.1
  24. The problem is that old music has already BEEN in the charts. Its out there if you want to go and listen to it. Why take up places that could be filled by new artists and new music that would otherwise be missed because the Top 10 is full of old Beatles tracks.
