Is anyone keeping track on the best new entries on Download Only? It woud be interesting to see a list of the top songs. Obviously Gnarls at No.1, but as time goes on I realise what an achievement that was as no other track has even come close. When Gnarls did it so soon, I thought it would be quite a common occurence. I think the next closest was Rihanna at No.5 or something. Thanks
  2. 53 33 HOGAN*BROOKE/PAUL WALL ABOUT US (FEATURING PAUL WALL) Hulk Hogan's daughter!!
  3. One major consistent error in his report - I thought Paris Hilton DID have the biggest selling single in the country, just not the biggest selling song.....
  4. Great achievement, yet they still can't get the picture of the right bridge on the single cover! Americans have never been able to tell the difference between London and Tower Bridge though?!! :P

The intro to Mr Brightside is nicked from Private Emotion by Ricky Martin

True, I remember being surprised that no-one picked up on The Killers ripping off Ricky Martin for My Brightside!! I guess totally original tunes are getting scarce. It will always have been "almost" done before.

Yeah, i was pretty sure she credited the writers of Tainted Love. It was the rip-off of Lonely No More by Rob Thomas I was a bit more unsure about....

Does anyone know if Rihanna is giving credit/paying royalties to the writers of the two songs she ripped off/sampled in her last two songs? SOS - Tainted Love Unfaithful - Lonely No More Just wondering because there is a pretty blatant court case if she is not.
  10. Good post finally with a lot of sensible choices! I was going to give up on this thread after wading through a million "Britney should have got to No.1 with all her songs but was held off by X and X and X and X......" moans. Probably should add to list: Bad Day - Daniel Powter
  11. 18 20 E-40 FEATURING T-PAU AND DAT Is this the same group that brought us "China In Your Hand"?? :P

I don't think we're that close. I would estimate there have been about 700 No.2s?

I remember that both You Are Not Alone by Michael Jackson and The Real Slim Shady by Eminem both went 1-2-3-4-5->

If you read the post correctly, you are not being judged....the US chart is being judged in the same way you judged our chart. Up until this year the US chart was the worst in the world, dominated by paint-by-numbers Hip-Hop and Pop Idol winners. It has dragged itself out of the mire a little thanks to the effect of downloads but Gnarls Barkleys is a hundred times better than a lot of your No.1s (Check It Out, So Sick, Run It to name just 3....) That said, Gnarls Barkley is probably No.1 by default at the moment purely because there is nothing coming out that is good enough for No.1. I'd rather see them at No.1 for the 8th week selling 40,000 than another Orson (great song, but abysmal sales).
