  1. Probably why downloads have taken off so much. The biggest selection of music in the world in your living room.
  2. Its great that albums are so cheap now. It shows that the days of £13.99 albums were raking it in for the record companies. However, the trend of sub-£7 albums is definitely contributing to the death of the CD single. Given a choice between a £3.99 single and a £6.49 album, its a bit of a no-brainer really.
  3. I'll put a slight disclaimer on my above post and say that maybe "Groove is in the Heart" deserved No.1 lol :P
  4. What an utterly stupid idea. Its only saving grace is that it may make some money for charity. None of the songs listed deserved to be No.1 because they weren't the biggest selling song in the week they were out! I'm sure Robbie is not losing much sleep that Angels didn't make No.1 or that Noel is depressed because one of his singles only made <oh no> "only" No.2! Lets get some new music in the charts. People whinge when Westlife et al take a cover to No.1.....this is worse!

Probably about 4pm on Sunday afternoon so as not to spoil the JK and Joel show too much.
  6. Yeah im probably being pedantic but Masterton error spotting is a pastime round here isnt it? :)
  7. Interesting fact. Does that make Akon the first artist to take up 10% of the Top 10, 20 AND 30?
  8. Except that neither Take That or Leona Lewis managed a month on top.....but never mind eh?
  9. Well I guess the sales of Mika have proved that the physical single is dying....barely more than he sold last week on downloads alone. I'd like to see if his download sales are increasing though. Glad its massively outselling "This Ain't A Scene Its An Arse Face" though
  10. Not to be a party-pooper but I don't think this chart is going to work. I doubt people have the time to post up EVERY song they listen to in a given week. Therefore it is probably just gonna be a "favourite song in the Top 75" kinda chart.

And there was me thinking she was most famous as Alison Moyet's backing singer :P Keep an eye out for her in the video to "Is This Love"!

Looks like we're not in for a 9-weeker this time round then. Thanks for the figures.

10,000 isnt too shoddy. Can anyone recall what Gnarls did first day of release?

I think the interesting thing to watch today is not IF Mika is still No.1 (that is pretty much a given) but how much the physical release shifts. I remember Gnarls last year sold 30,000 on download at No.1 then sold 200,000 in the first week of physicals. In todays climate, its unlikely Mika will manage such a jump.
  15. Forgive my ignorance but why is the View listed twice in the album charts?

If you didn't like the Top 2 last week, it is unlikely you will like it this week! :P

Yes thats right....I think the official term is songs that have "outperformed the market". Ie, done better than all other songs that week.

"ABC" had also crept into the Itunes Top 100 when I looked last.

Im not a fan of BB but i saw a snippet of this task where two teams were formed. One was had to perform I Want You Back, while the other had to perform a Steps song (Deeper Shade of Blue I think) Jade summed it up when Big Brother asked if she thought their team would winand she said "Well....they have Jermiane Jackson and we have H from Steps" :P

Mis-type. Its Jackson 5's classic I Want You Back.
