  1. For me, Progress and Circus are a tie. Progress is overall top-notch album from top to bottom. Circus though has some questionable moments it does has a lot of heart in to it. Songs like Greatest Day and Hold up the Light are a masterpiece from them. Take That and Party is just too young and doesn't age well at all. I'm in a minority here that like Wonderland. At least more than III for sure. I was not impressed by III when it first came out even though I like several songs in it. III and Beautiful World are in the same category for me as in they are very formulaic. Beautiful World just have better songs.
  2. I don't understand the talk about Jay like he is a bad guy here when this is probably the main reason why he quit the band, to stop stangers being judgmental on him. What's wrong with him dating young girls or older girls (Catherine Tate wasn't exactly young when they were dating)? He is single and should be allowed to date whoever he wants. And if he decided to quit because of the tax thing then I don't see any problem. People has different values in life that hold dear to their heart. Anyway, all this was just you guys' speculations (not even truth) and you still manage to use it to talk down on him just because he is not your favorite. Jason has never been a fan of technology since when he was in the band so I see no reasons for him to change after he left the band. Being of grid is so Jason that I don't know why everyone would be surprised. I have a lot of old colleagues that I was close to when I was working with them but never bother to keep in touch. I still like them but they are not my priority at the moment. There are so many levels of friendship and Take That is definitely a unique one.
  3. I think they did say they would do the original version of Pray at the tour. Myself imagine it will start with a slow version and then lunch into a dancing one.
  4. Then we will have to agree to disagree. I don't see how it sound any difference from say One Love concert. Maybe it's his look that's distracting.
  5. Mark always sound like this. So you have to be embarrassed for a long time if that's your criteria. He sung in tune and not better or worst then before. I happen to like his voice and his songs so I might be bias. I always like Gary voice the most but not all the songs are meant to be for him. The two songs fit the theme of the show. It would look weird if they do Rule the world and then Everything changes. I agree with a comment about the mustache though. It has to go!
  6. Thanks Jay727. Love the performance. It's fun, entertaining and visually stunning. I hope that's part of the tour (minus Robbie of course). Some reactions on twitter make it sound like a disaster when it's not. I think Mark's singing is as good as any other times. So is Rob's and everyone knew that Rob's can be on and off depending on his mood. The only thing I don't like is Rob's flirting with Ayda. It takes away from it's being TT song. One more complain is that they should do at least 3 songs.
  7. The more I listened to it the more I think they missed out good opportunity by not releasing Everlasting. Its lyric fitting the greatest hit them better. It would connect more to casual fans.
  8. I always feel that Never Forget and Million Love Songs work way better in the live environment. The music arrangement in the CD recording is just too cheesy.
  9. I just wish they would at least do a show in the US. Just one is enough for me. It doesn't have to be a big show, just them and the band would be enough for us US fans. New York, LA I don't care. Just come and I'll fly there.
  10. I heard Gary mentions both of our record companies at some points. So I think the new greatest hits will be a mix of both eras. Just not sure in what kind of format.
  11. I really like the video. Maybe it will help with the chart a bit, huh?
  12. I'm torn about it being a single. I like it but kinda want them to do something more risky with a 2nd single so people take notice. Either Superstars or It's all for you.
  13. Hopefully they do a soundtrack to Kingsman II and have a bonus song added to the reissue of the album. A new wicked single is a must for this album to do well.
  14. I think the problem with Wonderland is, unlike III, it doesn't have a real single material. And that translate back to the sale. Saying that. Now, I'm crazy for New Day after the live performance. Wouldn't mind it being a second single now.
  15. Here is my ranking on the comeback album. 1. Progress 2. The Circus 3. Wonderland 4. III 5. Beautiful World (not counting Rule the World) I like that they keep evolving and feel that the evolution is genuine. Apart from III where you can feel that they were not quite certain with the direction. Every albums feel like it's the step they want to take as a group. They are not for sure at this point aiming for the best selling album because like everybody said they can go back to do Beautiful World II if they want to sell more. They may not gain a lot of casual buyers. You have to admit that all the people that give them, Adele or Ed Sheeran those huge sale are the type of people that buy 2-3 cds a year and not gonna be life-long devoted fans. By continuing to evolve, they will gain new, though small, devoted fans. You don't stan for any artists just for the music. Usually, it's the side story that make you love them. Grant it music does matter but that's personal preference. Different people like different kinds of music. You can't please everyone.
  16. New Day may become my new favorite after the live version. So much fun to watch. The whole show looks good so hope it translate into good sale.
  17. Agree. I also become a fan during Everything Changes era. My friend told me I should buy their cassette (that old) and I didn't stop playing that album for a whole year. It changed my life completely. I used to be very very bad in English. Nearly flunk a class every year. Take That made me want to be better in English. I always thank them for that. In my country Take That were very big as an international band. But with us not speaking English, 'big' is a relative term. I had to sleepover at my friend's house so I could watch the Gmax concert on MTV. There was no internet back then so everything was hard to get. Had to save up a lot just to get one picture of them from import magazines. Talk about dedication. After they split up, I already moved on to other Britpop and more obscured music. So I didn't pay attention about their comeback until 'the Circus' period. One day I saw the Ultimate Tour on Youtube and thought damn these guys were still good live. I went to a dvd store and bought what I thought the DVD of the Ultimate Tour. Turn out it's Beautiful World tour and I was hooked. They were unbelievably good. So again I went back to a cd store to look for Beautiful World cd but instead I got the Circus. The moment I heard Greatest Day I am a fan again. Becoming a fan the second time is pretty convoluted process but turn out great. When I finally got the Beautiful World album, I didn't care about it as much as the concert. So if I heard that one first I might not come back to them.
  18. They should have perform Lucky Star. That song should go down very well and somewhat a good representation of the new album. The reason that positions of the new album look better than III in other countries must come from not many competitions at this time of the year. I don't get a feel that it sells better.
  19. Look like I'm wrong about they'd not get No. 1 if they release this week. Oh well, life can't always get your way. I feel that they are more concentrated on promoting the musical than this album.
  20. I doubt they will chart. It's the kind of show that doesn't have hugh attraction (it's on every night) and Giants isn't a killer song. They may gain some new fans but not gonna set anything on fire.
  21. It's a no win-win situation. If they open this week, they wouldn't get the Mother's day sale plus the Red Nose promo. So sale might not be as good as this and Ed would still outsell them. I guess we will have to settle to the fact that they are no longer number one. Just keep doing good songs is good enough. This album is full of wonderful things to discover on every listening. I found something new to like every time. There are no instant hits for sure but so full of details.
  22. I wish they would sale more. I bought like 2 copies from amazon.co.uk even I'm not in the UK. I thought that would help. :teresa:
  23. This is very good. Make me miss the Abbey Road session. Thank you.
  24. Probably true. I really enjoy this album as a whole but it seems to lack a wow song that make you want to sing along. Maybe live show will change that. I love Hold Up the Light in the album but with the live show it's on another level. Gary said in one of the interview that their two record companies are talking about monster boxset for the greatest hits coming out at the end of this year. They may have some new songs written with Robbie in there too. I also hope they do the soundtrack for Kingsman II. If they do it should be good.
  25. I was hoping for Lucky Star to be the next single. It's such a fun song. My favorite at the moment is Superstar but don't think that qualifies as a single. So far I like this album more than III but it kinda lack a killer song like In to the Wild or Freeze. Btw, hi everyone. I'm new but have been checking the forum in the shadow for many years. :teresa:
