4th March 2000 : Christina Aguilera - What A Girl Wants (1 week at # 1) Rating : 7 / 10 UK chartrun : 3-8-19-21-27-34-38 Previous big week for pop releases had very small effect on my chart, but Britney's big hit left UK top 10 and became illegal for 6th week on the top. Christina got her first # 1 with "What A Girl Wants". Despite only # 21 this single was her most successful song in "Gražios Dainos" until "Back To Basics" era. "Cartoon Heroes" was stopped at # 27 and Shania got her second DNC single. Fresh songs in UK top 10 : Aqua - Cartoon Heroes - 7/10 Shania Twain - Don't Be Stupid (You Know I Love You) - 6/10 All Saints - Pure Shores - 5/10 A1 - Like A Rose - 5/10 Rebecca Wheatly - Stay With Me (Baby) - 4/10 Jamelia - Money - 3/10 Backstreet Boys - Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely - 3/10 Artful Dodger and Romina Johnson - Movin Too Fast - 3/10 Kelis - Caught Out There - 1/10

Amy Winehouse Bjork Whitney Houston Kate Bush Bee Gees Justin Hawkin (Darkness) Jake Shears (Scissor Sisters)

11. I'll Stand By You (2004) - 7.5/10 12. I Think We're Alone Now (2006) - 7.5/10 13. Sexy! No No No (2007) - 7.5/10 14. Life Got Cold (2003) - 7.5/10 15. Untouchable (2009) - 7.5/10

Glam was huge in UK, but not in my version. Sorry, but I'm not a fan of genre.

29th January 2000 : Britney Spears - Born To Make You Happy (5 weeks at # 1) Rating : 8.5 / 10 UK chartrun : 1-2-4-6-9-15-24-30-36 Third # 1 single for Britney (after "Baby One More Time" and "Sometimes"). Fresh songs in UK top 10 : Andreas Johnson - Glorious - 6/10 Oasis - Go Let It Out - 5/10 REM - The Great Beyond - 4/10 Lyte Funkie Ones - Girl On TV - 4/10 Daphne and Celeste - Ooh Stick You! - 3/10 Fierce - Sweet Love 2K - 3/10 Gabrielle - Rise - 3/10 Ian Brown - Dolphins Were Monkeys - 3/10 Tamperer and Maya - Hammer To The Heart - 2/10 Death In Vegas - Aisha - 2/10 Eiffel 65 - Move Your Body - 2/10 Joey Negro and Taka Boom - Must Be The Music - 1/10 Nu Generation - In Your Arms (Rescue Me) - 0/10 Sash! - Adelante - 0/10 Hi-Gate - Pitchin' - 0/10 Scanty Sandwich - Because Of You - 0/10 Des Mitchell - (Welcome) To The Dance - not rate All five are awful. "Rescue Me" have a vocals part, but still bad. I'm sorry if you like it, but for me endless repeating of some words/same short text to the music is not a song.

22nd January 2000 : Scooch - More Than I Needed To Know (1 week at # 1) Rating : 8 / 10 UK chartrun : 5-14-30 Maiden # 1 hit for British pop group Scooch. Peaked at # 3 in my personal chart. Fresh songs in UK top 10 : Manic Street Preachers - The Masses Against The Classes - 3/10 Point Break - Stand Tough - 3/10 Donell Jones - U Know What's Up - 2/10

25th December 1999 : Steps - Say You'll Be Mine (4 weeks at # 1) Rating : 9.5 / 10 UK chartrun : 7-8-4-4-14-19-32-38-38 Let's start with very predictable # 1. "Say You'll Be Mine" is my favourite song of 90s decade, which spent 7 weeks on the top of "Gražios Dainos". This song didn't get the highest 10/10 only because I have a limit - one 10/10 per act. You will see soon (or possibly already know), which their single is my # 1. Fresh songs in UK top 10 : Pet Shop Boys - You Only Tell Me You Love Me When Your Drunk - 6/10

2000s is possibly most interesting decade for this cycle. In 2000-2003 years my favourites were popular in UK, so #1s list will be similar with "Gražios Dainos". After it I predict a domination of male bands, but let's wait and see.

1. Saturdays 2. YVA 3. Pet Shop Boys 4. Walk The Moon 5. A-ha 6. Chvrches 7. Fifth Harmony 8. Enhypen

All three Kym Marsh's singles were # 1 hits in my chart. Last selection is great. I like all Amarillo versions, even about Santa's Grotto.

Possibly it's only one their song, which I dislike.

16. Call The Shots (2007) - 7.5/10 17. Walk This Way (2007) - 7/10 18. Sound Of The Underground (2002) - 7/10 19. Wake Me Up (2005) - 7/10 20. Jump (2003) - 7/10

How it works ? It's a mix between the official UK chart and my music preferences. For each week I will select my favourite song from UK top 10. So I can't declare favourite UK # 41 flop as alternative # 1 and my all-time favourite with UK chartrun : 2-3-8-15-24-35 can't spend more than 3 weeks on the top. My music taste is the mostly opposite to the majority of Buzzjack community. So possibly you will prefer the official history of UK # 1s over my choices, but let's have fun. Also I will rate top 10 hits with the exсeption of instrumentals. I'm very strict judge, so 6/10 is a good score. Do you have any interest in 2000s version ? 70s thread here : https://www.buzzjack.com/forums/topic/263089-uk-1-songs-imaginary-version-1972/

I didn't know this Lyn Paul's song. Just watched 45cat, she released 10 (!!!) solo singles. Need to fill this hole in my music knowledge.

21. Something Kinda Ooooh (2006) - 6/10 22. Long Hot Summer (2005) - 6/10 23. Love Machine (2004) - 5/10 24. Something New (2012) - 2/10

Let's start with the best UK girl group. Girls AloudSingles : 24 - Sound Of The Underground (2002) - No Good Advice (2003) - Life Got Cold (2003) - Jump (2003) - The Show (2004) - Love Machine (2004) - I'll Stand By You (2004) - Wake Me Up (2005) - Long Hot Summer (2005) - Biology (2005) - See The Day (2005) - Whole Lotta History (2006) - Something Kinda Ooooh (2006) - I Think We're Alone Now (2006) - Walk This Way (2007) - Sexy! No No No (2007) - Call the Shots (2007) - Theme To St. Trinian's (2008) - Can't Speak French (2008) - The Promise (2008) - The Loving Kind (2009) - Untouchable (2009) - Something New (2012) - Beautiful 'Cause You Love Me (2012)

This song firstly was performed by Rubic in UK national pre-selection for Eurovision. "When The Kissing Stops", written by Martin Lee and Barry Upton of Brotherhood of Man together with their longtime writing partner Tony Hiller (who had co-written "Save Your Kisses For Me"), was originally intended for the group themselves, but they decided it would be best not to risk losing and thus not to take part; although all four members of the group attended the broadcast. The group did go on to record the song however and it featured on their album "Lightning Flash". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom_in_the_Eurovision_Song_Contest_1983 It was the one from the best UK pre-selections. I recommend to re-watch it, 6 out of 8 entries, all which were performed by mixed (female + male) groups are pure pop at it's best. Just watch on a songwriters list (Tony Hiller, Martin Lee, Barry Upton, Marty Kristian, Stephanie De Sykes, Paul Curtis, Guy Fletcher, Doug Flett).

I like Teach-In winner's song, but 70s is a golden decade for Eurovision. So only 4th place in my ranking for Netherlands (behind Luxembourg, Monaco and Norway). 1975 (my ranking) 1. Geraldine - Toi (Luxembourg) - 8 2. Sophie - Une Chanson C'est Une Lettre (Monaco) - 8 3. Ellen Nikolaysen - Touch My Life With Summer (Norway) - 8 4. Teach-In - Ding-A-Dong (Netherlands) - 7 5.
