  1. My local Woolworths stopped selling singles completely about a year ago  then about two months later the Music zone across the road shut  The nearest places now are HMV and Zavvi which are about 30 minutes away. Zavvi aren't to bad, but HMV seems to be regualary moving them around the store to more obscure positions - they don't even sell vinyls any more!!

I think the main reason for people not buying them are the price. Students aren't going to shell out £3.99 for a 2 track single. I used to buy loads but i now only buy them for the artists i really like. Otherwise i just download them (which i hate doing because i'm literally paying for nothing!) or buy the albums.

That is so right you are shelling out for nothing when you think about it!!..what have you got to show for it in years to come!!??

  2. When you look at it on the release scedule there are quite a few physical singles released each week, but WHERE can we buy them?????!!!! surely record companies should take action! I'm pretty sure my local HMV have replaced selling singles for Ipod rubbish! so where else can you by a CD single if HMV have stopped selling??!!
  3. lol!!

the radio edit of about you now was the one to drop first, even though it hit the top.

the album edit lasted in the chart the longest, CSF will be the same

The radio edit for 'about you now' was the shorter edited version, so that makes sense that it fell off quicker, but GA's CSF single remix is better than the album version...IMO! :)

  4. I doubt many people will even download the single version when it comes out...just look how far down the single version of Leona's Better In Time is...

Well most of the fans will, as they won't have it! and as soon as it appears on Itunes chart it will be snapped up!

  5. there will have to be a better way of buying them online though, if my one and only experience is anything to go by... I ordered The Journey Continues from hmv.co.uk the day it was released and it never arrived despite supposedly having been sent. Even then, it took a week to be sent by them and then 2 weeks after that I had to ask for a refund. The only good thing was my refund was quick in coming through.

It hardly inspires confidence in buying them online and I don't have a store anywhere near me that sells them in store...

I'm still reluctant to buy downloads but they seem the most hassle free way of buying a "single".

It's because HMV.co.uk is now based in Jersey (hence the free delivery, somthing to do with tax free I think) it does take about a week for me for my oders to arrive!

PS: The internet has made people so lazy! and destroyed many things!...quite scary to be honest!

  6. You're correct.

And no, they get seperate entries.

Sorry I'm to lazy to look...

So does this mean that if she does make number 1 this weekend it will be just one song??? or does it go by the AA side CD single? hypotheticly if she went to No.1 last week on downloads alone with 'BIT' BUT then went to No.1 with the AA side single the week after, would they count as two seperate No.1's & two seperate enteries???!!! confused yet? I am!!

  7. I seriously think the press are going abit over the top with this! saying Beatles songs will to the charts for weeks on end!? surely most fans will...

    A. Already have the CD albums, or the Greatest Hits '1'

    B. Download the whole album if they don't already have it, not just individual songs?

I think OLD Beatles songs clogging up the current singles charts would be terrible! :puke2: album charts OK.

Online Beatles songs will help pay for Sir Paul McCartney's divorce

    By Tom Pettifor Tom.Pettifor@Mirror.Co.Uk 8/03/2008

(What's this?)Macca is to help fund his divorce by giving the go-ahead for the Beatles' entire back catalogue to be released on iTunes in a £200million deal.

The Fab Four's singles and albums will be made available for download to users of Apple's iTunes in the coming months - and are expected to top the charts for weeks on end.

A huge slice of the cash will go to Sir Paul, with the rest going to the only other surviving Beatle Ringo Star and the families of John Lennon and George Harrison.

The Mirror revealed in February 2007 a deal allowing Apple to sell Beatle songs was to be signed.

And in a recent interview Macca confirmed: "It's happening soon. The whole thing is primed - ready to go."

The huge windfall comes at a good time for Macca, 65, - who is expected to have to give estranged wife Heather Mills between £20 and £30million when their divorce hearing takes place at London's High Court in nine days.

But news of the massive online payment could lead Heather, 40, to reassess her financial expectations.

The former model, married to Macca for four years, may argue she is entitled to a cut of his iTunes cash.

The Beatles back catalogue will be the most popular music catalogue ever released on the internet.

The online release of the songs has been held up for years by a series of legal wrangles.

Bookies yesterday reported a surge in betting on which Beatles hit will be the first to top the charts - with Hey Jude the 4/1 favourite.

And William Hill have cut the price of the Beatles having all 10 tracks in the top 10 at some point in 2008 from 10/1 to 8/1.

    TOP BEATLE BETS

8/1 - the Beatles will have every song in the Top 10

4/1 - Hey Jude, next Beatles track to top the charts

    9/1 - Yesterday

10/1 - Love Me Do; She Loves You; I Want to Hold Your Hand; Can't Buy Me Love; Hard Day's Night

12/1 - All You Need is Love

14/1 - I Feel Fine; Day Tripper; Penny Lane; Let it Be

    16/1 - Get Back; Something

20/1 - Ticket to Ride; Strawberry Fields Forever; Paperback Writer; Eleanor Rigby

It always seems when GA release a single, they are cruely robbed of the topspot by underserving songs!

do you think they will ever hit No.1 again??! I think with the right song/sound they can grap the No.1 spot. I REALLY want them to try somthing fresh and exciting on their new (hopefully!) album!! what does everyone think??

(just to finish ^_^ ) Also last year I wondered, IF Girls Aloud had been given 'About You Now' would it have been as successful as SB or even more??!!!
