American Idol's back
There ain't no justice - crap won in the final again Crystal was perfect. But once again the singer in 2nd place will have the better and longer lasting career. It also shows US have no musical taste. Don't think i'll watch next year. I'd buy Crystal's album along with Siobahn's I noticed there was an appearance by all the former winners except one - Where was David Cook?

Is Retro the home of great music?
Myself I'd start at 1963 - when really great acts started to emerge with the likes of Beatles - Stones - Hollies - Dusty - Cilla - Mersey Sound - Phil Spector acts and many more

Do you follow both charts (Singles and Albums)
It dosn't mean you're old just because you view chart archives. It just shows your interest in them

Do you follow both charts (Singles and Albums)
Mainly the singles chart and the full Top 200 if I can get hold of them. But at least the Top 100 anyway as that is the official chart right now. I have the complete collection of all the UK singles charts (with the odd exception) and even have the EP charts. I've always gone for the complete official chart. I don't see the point of going half measures. Top 40 is just the stupid Beeb idea. Here's the official chart milestones: 14 Nov 1952 - First ever singles chart which was only Top 12 01 Oct 1954 - Increased to Top 20 (BBC just used Top 10) 13 Apr 1956 - Increased to Top 30 (BBC just used Top 20) 10 Mar 1960 - Increased to Top 50 (BBC started their own silly chart at this time) - First chart published in Record Retailer (Music Week) and from 1962 in the new music magazine Record Mirror 13 Feb 1969 - Still Top 50 (BBC starts to use the official chart but only uses Top 30) 06 May 1978 - Increased to Top 75 (BBC just used Top 40) 08 Jan 1983 - Increased to Top 100 (BBC still just used Top 40) 04 May 1991 - Back to Top 75 (BBC still just used Top 40) - due to decline in sales of singles 17 Apr 2005 - Increased back to Top 100 (BBC still just use Top 40) - due to amalgamation of downloads & physical

American Idol's back
This was a real shocker to me - I had Siobahn to win with just a blip last week. I thought Aaron should have gone. To me he's AI's answer to Leon Jackson. Lee's voice just goes through me. I liked Michael & Casey early on but they have gone downhill. Crystal is the only good one left now.

Coach Trip
Series 5, 6 & 7 have been commissioned. A statement from coach operator Mott's suggests that a fifth, sixth & seventh series will be commissioned. "We have also secured the next three series of Channel 4’s Coach Trip programme which are being filmed back to back from May until September with just a week off in between, this will keep MT09 MTT occupied all summer, they were very pleased with her and she didn't miss a beat on the last series." This was confirmed on 12th April 2010, with Channel 4 confirming that Series 5 and 6 will revert to 30 days instead of the current 50. :( Channel 4 also confirmed that Series 5 will air in Autumn 2010, Series 6 will air in Summer 2011 and Series 7 in Spring 2012.

Neil Christian died
Just found out that 60s singer Neil Christian died back on Jan 4. Neil Christian (born Christopher Tidmarsh) had a solo Top 20 hit single in 1966, when "That's Nice" (written by Miki Dallon), reached Number 16 in the UK Singles Chart. Follow-up singles "Oops" and "Two at a Time" never reached the official charts, both of them however made the Top 50 in the Disc & Music Echo charts (Oops peaking at #31 and Two At A Time peaking at #45. Neil Christian and the Crusaders are one of the British rock and roll bands of the 1960s. Fronted by their singer Christian, originally the band consisted of Elmer Twitch piano; Tornado Evans drums; Ritchie Blackmore guitar; and Bibi Blange bass. They were signed to the Strike record label. In the early 1960s Jimmy Page was asked to join The Crusaders. Page toured with Christian for approximately two years, and later played on several of his records, including their November 1962 single, "The Road to Love / The Big Beat Drum", released on Columbia and produced by Joe Meek under his RGM Sound imprint. In 1971 Christian took on a young an innovative Proto Punk group called Crushed Butler and whilst still under his management; changed their name to Tiger. Christian got them into the studios where they recorded at De Lane Lea, Wembley, and then into a small studio in Tooting, London, where he produced with them - the now well known rocker track 'High School Dropout'. Christian in this case was well ahead of his time, as were the group. Everything Christian released between 1962 and 1968 has been reissued on the CD compilation, That's Nice, which also added several unreleased recordings from the same era. R.I.P. Neil Here are 2 of the solo singles: That's Nice 79-MTlfNXnU Two At A Time 8DFXikVHm6s

X Factor US
The latest news is that it's not a done deal that Cheryl will be a judge, Louis is also in the frame but Simon says there is only room for one of them. American producers are a little scared of Cheryl's Geordie accent and that the yanks may not be able to tell what she says. I say what about Louis' Irish accent, it's so deep even the English can't always tell what he says. I hope the job goes to Cheryl
