  7. Swim Until You Can't See Land is very very good, apart from that, not too keen at the moment...

Don't post on this site really anymore cos I'm too cool etc... but thought I'd look for any topics about this show. One of my favourite TV series ever, feels like I've been watching it forever and I'm only halfway through season 4 (out of 5). Really gripping story lines and as Grimly said, it's a huge commitment but ultimately worth it. Everyone I know who've I've recommended it to loves it. Brilliant acting, brilliant story and a brilliant social commentary.

Not surprised if there was some kind of conspiracy for Piquet to spin out at Singapore last year. Watched the F1 2008 Review DVD yesterday and Briatore even goes to an unhappy looking Piquet, "thanks Nelson" or words to that effect on the pit wall after Alonso wins the race. May just be reading too much into it but it did seem strange knowing now what has been accused. Briatore and Symonds may have only left to save Renault's reputation though, but it is a very very strange move.

A big fat "LOL" at there been no thread for this film. d6PDlMggROA I'm not one for big reviews of films I've seen but I'd probably say this was the best film I've seen this year, really good story with lots of undertones of apartheid etc... Great action sequences and it makes films with 20x the budget (Transformers II...) look very very $h!t. Go and see this.
  12. I agree wholeheartedly with this sentiment.
  13. CM Punk's promo going on about single parents etc... was one of the best things in wrestling in the past two years by a long way.

Bell is the obvious choice, not picking him now would have completely undermined County Cricket even more than it is now. He's on top form at the moment. In a technical sense, he's the best player by far, but doesn't mean he's the most effective. I think he'll do well though, especially as he has something to prove.

I know this was a serious topic... but http://www.viceland.com/wp/2009/07/babes-of-the-bnp/
  17. One of the worst films I've ever sat through in the cinema. Was an hour too long, no distinction between the robots, WHO WAS FIGHTING WHO? Lame cliches and random slow-motion camera shots, just a pointless pointless film. Hated it. I'm too angry to review it right now.

  19. Great, let us sit on our hands and discuss the weather and how wonderful it was today, or the fact that in Autumn, the leaves of the trees go orange then fall off or the fact that the sun goes down at about 10pm during the summer, and at 4pm during the winter and that we hate the darkness, the coldness, the snow and the morning frost that winter brings. Those are all things we CANNOT CHANGE. Here, even though we have very little say already... the fact that we can say, we can complain and if we do enough we could force some kind of change is enough to actually discuss it, no? Compared to my earlier paragraph anyway...

I'm not really talking about the Socialists/Anarchist who are set in their beliefs. More about the sort of people, usually lower-class from my experience that has a "rebellious streak" as such and is attracted to the extremes of politics, maybe "just to be different". These sort of people could probably swallow any sort of daft propaganda from either side. I dunno what percentage of people this would take up, maybe it would be small but it's definitely there. The problem with left-wing parties today is that they're horrifically divided. There is no sort of organised left-wing movement now. Respect were slowly getting there, and they then split. These factions do nothing apart from divide. This is the problem. Yes, the BNP also have internal strife, but they manage to keep the structure of the party united. I can only see the Greens really being a viable left-wing alternative to Labour, hopefully they will have got a decent percentage this European election. The one other issue with attracting voters for the left is the fact that by it's nature, socialism/communism is more complicated. To potential supporters, you'd have to explain an ideology and terms that are far from simple. The BNP have a much easier job really, they can just blame whoever, government, immigrants, minorities. It's much more simple, and unfortunately, much more effective to do. And I'm not even going to go onto the fact that the left will always struggle to get finance, especially with this electoral system where an election is won or lost on how much is spent. I'm quite worried about the BNP winning a seat or two tonight, which will most definitely help them push on with the money received for the next election.
