Girls Aloud's spoof All Saints track
I still like Girls Aloud's music, but as people I'm liking them less and less. I'm not even bothered if they want to get into stupid b**ch fights with rival groups, but I'm getting so bored with hearing about how they've had more top 10 hits than XXX, and therefore are the biggest and best girl band in history. It's such obvious media manipulation, and there's no need for it.

One week sales of the decade
It would be interesting to work out how many of those made it big in other countries.

Date of the Gareth Gates Documentary
People who were at the secret gig, which was all filmed, but not shown, said that most of the songs were upbeat. Unfortunately there wasn't enough time for any of those, as they were too busy showing him in the supermarket car-park, which is obviously what we should be more interested in. What I heard I liked, and I am really looking forward to hearing more from the album. He says he's done the photo-shoot for the album cover now.

I think he will do a lot of promotion this time, more than ever before. GMTV have already said they have him booked! One fan who was at the secret gig said that he did a lot of uptempo songs, and was disappointed they didn't play any of them, but maybe they didn't fit in with the down-beat theme. That was the main thing that disappointed me. I know Gareth is fun, and people at the secret gig commented on how Gareth joked and had fun between songs, but they were more interested in his hat.

Fatmuffin doesn't like Gareth, but still watched. ;) Gareth's official website has just announced his MySpace. It's http://www.myspace.com/garethgatesmyspace That lists Gareth's label as 19 Recordings Ltd/UMTV. I can't believe that the only mention of a new deal they made was at the end, and in passing, saying that he'd signed one. Gareth left a message to fans saying that he's also just done the photo-shoot for the album. :cheer:

Key phrase was him having signed a new deal. I wish they'd gone into more about that. It was quite funny when they went wandering around the house and no-one was there. I liked the piano. :D

I'm liking the music, but not so keen on the interviewer/voice-over woman. She seems a bit morose and trying to get Gareth to be all depressed about stuff.

There were many reports of Gareth being dumped, which were definitely not true, and denied by BMG and Gareth was still on their books and still releasing records in other parts of the world even. However, during a lot of that time Gareth was working independently of them, with Simon Fuller at 19, because Gareth was no longer working with Simon Cowell (BMG), because Cowell wanted Gareth to do one sort of album (probably the one Shayne released last year) and Gareth wanted to do something different. Gareth was on a retainer contract while he was working on his new album, and for whatever reason, it was not renewed in April. There are all kinds of theories from fans and those who claim to have spoken to someone at BMG, but one thing that has become clear is that BMG had not even heard the new music when the decision was made. It was probably quite stressful in the short-term, but I'm sure in the long-term it's for the best. BMG showed absolutely no committment to making Gareth's previous album work for them, so I don't see why it would have been any better for this one. They seemed to do the basic minimum to say that they'd tried, but it wasn't their fault.

Your Favourite Reality Winner's Song?
Easily Sound of the Underground. It would be a great song and charted well if any half decent band were singing it. Most of the other songs wouldn't have bothered the charts if they weren't being released by the winner of a show.

Leona - A Moment Like This
Is there any movement for Kelly's version in the charts? Assuming it is available to download as a single track. I don't like the song much, but it is definitely suited to her style, so good luck to her. Her version is definitely better than the one in the advert!

I think they might start advertising it after X Factor has finished. They might bill it as what can happen after the show finishes. There is an article about the documentary in the Bradford paper. Understandably they've taken a local angle, but it's interesting all the same. Gareth Gates is back on our TV screens By Sunita Bhatti http://www.thisisbradford.co.uk/_images/db/35/67/l102a6b1.356751.full.jpg Gareth Gates seemed to have the world at his feet at 17 - he was the fastest-selling British debut artist in history, with four number one singles and two best-selling albums to his name. The stammering teenage singer tugged at the heart-strings of the nation. But just four years after being a tearful runner-up on TV's Pop Idol in 2002, he had been dropped by his record company. Now, a TV documentary will chart his life as he first enjoyed fame and a reported £5 million fortune to suffering the public ignominy of being dropped by SonyBMG. And it will reveal what life is like for the former Bradford Cathedral head chorister as he prepares material for his comeback album, due next year. Gareth has been filmed visiting his family at their home near Bingley - which he bought with his earnings - and he will be shown paying a nostalgic visit to the flat where his parents Paul and Wendy lived when he was born, where he reminisces about how, as a toddler, he insisted his bedroom be decked out in Superman gear. For the first time, Gareth, who grew up in East Bowling, Bradford, will also be shown talking about his reasons for the public denial about tabloid revelations over his relationship with glamour model Jordan, which he later was forced to admit had been true, and how his life has changed. The show also uncovers the steps the former pop star still takes to avoid being recognised in public, even when shopping at his local supermarket. Fans will also be given a sneak preview of some of the material for his long-awaited third album. What ever happened to Gareth Gates? will be screened on ITV1 at 7.30pm on December 23. LMAO at the Superman gear, but I've always thought Gareth had a resemblance to Dean Cain who played Superman in the "New Adventures".

Neil Sean does tend to have his own very special spin on things!! heat have it as one of their Christmas tv picks, with a new photo showing Gareth singing, presumably from the documentary. Hopefully that means there will be a decent coverage of the musical side of things, not just the controvertial.

TT - Shine - released FEB 12th
I think you could be right there. Or it will drive album sales, which is a good thing, but I hope they still get another number one with it.

3AM Girls are not known for their accurate reporting! But I can't help but wonder if they have seen what happened with Take That compared with All Saints and have worked out that when someone has been away for a while, you need to build up the momentum before releasing an album.

iTunes Download Chart 2006
An Audience with Take That clearly had an effect. I love Shine and think it's going to be massive for them.

TT next single........?
I'd like them to release something more upbeat too. I love their ballads, but one of the great thing about them as a band is their ability to mix it up.

It's all coming together nicely, isn't it? If it's three weeks until the documentary, it might only be a couple of weeks or less until we get some trailers for it! :yahoo: I'm gutted I didn't win tickets to the gig, but I'm so happy to read it all went so well.
