Beverley Knight's new single 'No Man's Land'
Thanks for that. I got an email from her the other day, but in a fit of organisation, I deleted it before I had a chance to follow any of the links or listen to the new song. It's sounding great. Do you know what promotion she'll be doing?

Gareth Gates, it's official, and confirmed
Rav in News of the World thinks Gareth will be doing a bit of busking! Angel on My Shoulder isn't his new track, but an in-store, or out of store, performance to coincide with his album release sounds good to me!

Lucie Silvas- Brand New single
Me too, unless they did it properly in the studio to do it properly, and get the balance on all the harmonies spot on. It is a song that works well with more than one voice, but equally, Lucie sounded great when she was singing on her own. If it was released with Charlotte, she'd get all the press, but at least it would get press.

Lucie Silvas- Brand New single
You mean other than with Charlotte Church last night? It was really good, and showed how brilliantly Lucie sings. Most of the time Charlotte outclasses everyone, but Lucie totally held her own. Unfortunately, I don't think that will be released unless Charlotte ever puts together an album of her duets. I've heard a few people express an interest in that, but no sign of anything official. It would be nice if some of the better ones were made available via iTunes. Great as last night's performance was, I was disappointed there didn't seem to be any mention of the single or album.

Charlotte Church: I'm Pregnant
Good luck Charlotte! I wonder when mini-Charl is due?

Gareth Gates, it's official, and confirmed
We'll just have to wait and see. It will be harder because of the time away, but there is clearly a certain amount of interest. I think there are a lot more fans waiting for him to return than a lot of people realise. I think it will hinge on whether or not the radio stations are willing to give him a chance, and if his new label appreciates that they've got to build him up again and that it is likely to take more than one single. The good news is that Gareth seems to be more than capable of charming the socks off of everyone he's been meeting, so whatever happens chart-wise, he's going to come out of this with a lot more respect and goodwill from the press than he ever had before. :D

Gareth Gates, it's official, and confirmed
Gareth seems to be the kind of singer where the media are always interested in his personal life and him as a person. In some ways it helps with promotion, but there comes a point where it gets in the way, and the business end of things can be forgotten if it's not kept in check. Hopefully they'll get all those issues out of their system soon, and maybe that's why they've been holding back on releasing the full song and video. It's understandable that the press are interested in these other things. They do interviews with singers plugging their music day in and day out, but it's very rare to speak to someone who has Gareth's experiences.

Gareth Gates, it's official, and confirmed
Typical Popbitch description, lol. The site can have good gossip, but you have to sort through some dregs to get to it, so thanks for finding it and posting here. A fight scene sounds very interesting. So much for it supposed to be filmed a couple of weeks ago, but I was getting a bit anxious wondering why we hadn't heard anything yet. I suppose we'll just have to wait and see.

European Airplay Top 100
It's amazing for Nelly. Robbie is doing very well too. Obviously the rest of Europe is feeling kinder to him these days.

Melanie C - 'This Time'
She was good on Al Murray last night. I was expecting I Want Candy to be terrible, but it worked quite well. It was nice to see her doing something fun, but I can't see it being a big hit for her, or the right song to launch an album.

Maroon 5 Label Shifts To Universal, CD Due
Shows what I know. I thought they'd already released the follow-up. Did they release a new single that wasn't on the first album? I seem to remember thinking a "new" song was really disappointing.

Sadly, I think you are right. To quote Victoria Newton earlier this week: Not that it ever stopped her from judging his personality publicly and very harshly in her column.

Gareth Gates, it's official, and confirmed
Joe Mott is as fickle as they come, but of course I agree with him when he's being positive! I do think Angel on My Shoulder could be a big, big song for Gareth, and Joe is right to acknowledge that Gareth has got to ride the storm of the inevitable flak before he can move forward as an actual singer. Did you see Joe Mott's blog? He isn't exactly enlightened. Now he knows Gareth is a real person with an actual accent (daft man), he can't help being nicer. I'm sure the dehumanisation of Gareth in the past was a big part of him getting the brunt of all the hatred aimed at reality tv singers, or young, good looking pop singers in general.

Nor mine. Another photo of him leaving and a little report on Sky News. http://showbiz.sky.com/showbiz/article/0,,...1252804,00.html New Woman have been raving about how much they love him now too. http://www.nwdaily.co.uk/CelebrityGossipView.aspx?id=1513

I think Joe Mott missed out on the interview. Victoria Newton met him yesterday, so it's one of her big stories today. http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,4-2007080647,00.html No news yet from the gig, but it probably happened after they went to press last night.

The Star said "early April", but I'm hoping we'll get a specific date after tomorrow night's showcase. Have you seen the new video clips on his MySpace? It's great to hear him talking about who he has worked with and the whole song-writing process.

Top 20 Singles of 2007
A bit of both, but looking at how well Snow Patrol are still selling on downloads, we could end up with a few songs with substantial sales by the end of the year.

Gareth Gates, it's official, and confirmed
I was particularly shocked when I read what VN had to say, because Joe Mott has said nice things in the past. I was waiting for the sarcastic comment, but it didn't seem to be there. Maybe the bit about the guitar was supposed to be sarcastic, but it just looked silly. Gareth's been playing the guitar for years, so if she thinks it's an exclusive that he's been spotted playing one, then she's back on form. I assume if the song has gone to the newspapers, it must be almost ready to be played on the radio. Any radio people on here who can enlighten us?

All Saints Dropped Speculation
I've only seen it on tv once. It's a shame, because there was so much hope for this project and Rock Steady was excellent, but they don't seem to have consolodated that. No-one seems to care, and that includes them.

Gareth Gates, it's official, and confirmed
I'm really struck by how different Angel on My Shoulder sounds, but the clip I'd heard of it before was from the gig, and it was an acoustic version. :P Gareth and everyone around him have played their cards very close to their chest over the last couple of years, so I don't think they'll be pressurised into adding the full song too soon. I really want to hear it all, but my sensible head says they need to hold off until they have a release date, and are ready to start promoting properly. He should have filmed the video by now too! :cheer:

Darren Hayes Live Dates
Thanks for the tip-off maggles. Darren is brilliant and I love the sound of those gigs.

Fall Out Boy - Infinity On High
I'm still swithering on whether or not to get this album, as there seems to be a rush of good stuff at the minute. Which tracks should I listen to?

Gareth Gates, it's official, and confirmed
I love Gareth's voice, but understand not everyone will like him, and I am sure those who have always found fault will continue to find something to criticise. ;) I think it is of note that a number of people who were neutral towards previous material has said they have liked what they've heard.

Gareth Gates, it's official, and confirmed
That sounds like the very end of Changes. It's definitely slower than the clips we've heard before. The first time I heard that bit it seemed odd, but now it's just very lush. The other clips sound different too, lol. Angel on My Shoulder sounds quite epic! I really need to hear the full versions. :cheer:

B-sides to be scrapped?
I always love to hear the b-sides. They might be songs that didn't make the cut for the album, but maybe because they didn't fit the overall style, and not because they weren't good enough. And everyone has a different opinion about what is better, so it gives fan something extra. B-sides might be an opportunity for an artist to include a song they really liked, but the record company sniffed at, or be an outlet for material they produce inbetween albums, if the promotion for each album is over a long period. Even if it's a remix or a live version of a song, the fact that there is a home for b-sides is a good thing. I can see why record companies will care less and less about them, but it's always going to be something fans want to hear.
