I got the nicele titled "Diamonds in the Rough." Sorry for taking a while. 1. Kind of longish but I really learned to like this J-Pop song. It features quite an epic chorus. The vocalist is actually quite good. She has a real distinct tone to her voice that really shines through in the English portions of this song. It does sound a bit dated late 90s/early 00s? But given my music tastes this soooo isn't a problem. Quite an opener I have to say. 8.5/10 2. This is a nice poppy song. This is Lenka I believe yes? It's quite a simple song with a catchy chorus. I'd like more singing out of the singer especially since she does seem to have a good voice. Really love the chorus as its quite addicting. 8/10 3. This track opens with a short instrumental and an extremely distinct voice. I feel like i should know who this is but for some reason I just can't find it. I love how the vocals are extremely folksy and almost country in a way but the music is a bit more alternative/pop imo. the wooooohoooo's at the end are quite epic and and the end really reminds me a bit of Shakira. 9/10 4. This track has a very familiar sounding guitar and violin intro but I can't place it and the rest of the song isn't familiar at all to me. Really like the lyrics to this one. reminds me of a more upbeat Mumford and Sons. Folksy/rock/indie music isn't really my usual taste but i really should give it more of a chance haha I really enjoyed this short and sweet track. 9/10 5. This one starts with a peaceful sound of rain and then a low guitar and piano start a pretty forgettable voice starts the verse and moves into very James Morrison-ish chorus that cuts short into verse 2. I love that it builds the anticipation for the 2nd chorus which is full and goes into a lovely bridge. This song is quite epic once that second chorus hits 8/10 6. This I believe is an eastern European language track. It has a nice acoustic feel to it. I really like the verses but am left wanting more from the chorus. It's a nice enough track though. 7/10 7. This is a much more electronic sounding track, especially compared with everything thats come before it. I like this track and it reminds me a lot of Robyn. I don't know if I'd be able to pick out the voice out of all the singers doing this kind of sound atm. Love the lyrics to the chorus though. 7/10 8. This is kind of a funky electronic intro that just comes alive once the singer repeats get up get up. Quite an epic moment I must say! Not a huge fan of the rap/sung verses but I f***ing love that get up intro/prechorus that I'm willing to forget them haha. 8.5/10 9. this is where this already impressive album builds up towards it's peak. This is such a gorgeous electro ballad. It begins extremely simple with a lovely voice lamenting being alone. There is something so ethereal and dreamy about the verses and yet it just feels so natural. I love the understated chorus and the pretty humming part. The only thing I don't love about this song is the end which is quite jarring as it just ends. Please tell me this is a radio edit and that its proper version ends with a gorgeous drawn out instrumental? 9.5/10 10. Now I don't think I've previously heard this song but I'm pretty sure I must have heard of it because the chorus lyrics sound so familiar. It starts with a jessie j sounding voice (but less annoying) over soft electro ballad music. I felt like it should have exploded into a much more epic, big sounding chorus but in hindsight I like the way it progresses. I also really like the short instrumental section that takes us towards the end. 9/10 11. Unlike the previous two more subtle understated tracks. This one is definitely more in your face, but I like it just fine. This pretty much typical eurodance track but theres nothing wring with that. 7/10 12. Another dance track but this one has a more airy aspect to it. As it progresses it reveals itself to be an instrumental song. I really like the softness of it between 0:20-0:45 then it builds up but come right back down and up again. I like the varying intensity to this song. The instrumental acts as a nice bridge between the first part of this compilation and the second part which definitely proves to be quite different from what comes before it. 6/10 13. This track starts with a quite androgynous voice singing and goes into a rap-sung verse with kind of trashy lyrics. The intro which is repeated as part of the chorus is the only redeeming part of the song. The voice isn't for me and I'm not a fan of the lyrics at all. But there is something really lovely about the chorus and how it's sung. 6/10 14. This is kind of a disco sounding track. It's cute and funky. Not a huge fan of the chorus-sung chorus but the verses are good. Sounds like something that would have inspired Gabriella Cilmi's Ten album. 7/10 15. This is kind of a more experimental track with an interesting sound to it. I repeats a short verse twice and continues with its experimental instrumental. It has quite a calming effect though. It actually achieves the effect that it's repeated vocal says "don't think about all those things you fear" Really interesting track with a nice calming effect 8/10 16. Starts like a lot of rap songs with some random babyfied voice. Unlike most rap songs though, the rapping accompanied by just piano. The piano is nice enough but with rap probably more than other forms of music imo its crucial to understand what is being sung because it is so lyric based. a non babyfied voice comes in to sing a sort of chorus. I really like the singer's voice. I find myself really wanting to know what the song it about. The piano is really nice throughout the song. 6.5 17. This is a simple country song with just a female singer and guitars. I like the lyrics but I found it quite boring tbh. I kind of had to force myself to pay attention but once I did I found I could really relate to the song unfortunately haha. "Your green eyes make me blue" is such a nice line. I feel like I want a little more emotion out of the singer though. 7.5/10 18. This is another country song. Reminds a lot like that country song Wonderland keep covering mixed a little with the dixie chicks' cover of landslide. the chorus really hooks you in and has really nice lyrics. I like this singer more than the one that sang the previous song. 8/10 19. Starts with a rap over a guitar. the rapping is quite jarring during a few sections. It's hard to follow the story that the rapper is telling Its about a prostitute that gets abused and beat up. It's a sad story but idk I can't really get into it haha. The sung part isn't much better I'm afraid. It isn't really much of a chorus. And it just seems completely separate from the rap sections. It goes on a bit long as well. really sad ending though. but the chorus doesn't really fit with what happens in the plot. 4/10 20. This track starts off with piano and slowly the strings come in. This is a nice instrumental that concludes the album. I like how it contrasts with the first instrumental. The first being completely electronic and dance and this one being so organic and almost classical. A nice representation of the albums two sections and a nice way to conclude it. 7.5/10 Overall I really enjoyed this album and I almost feel as it's perfect for me since it's very pop but at the same time it kind of goes outside those boundaries into other sounds while still remaining within my tastes. I love how people equate taking a long time to work on an album and making sure it's good with no release and flopping! It's only been like a year, chill out. It's hardly on the Nicole scherzinger or jamelia level, yet anyway. That said, i would love to hear a single soon :/

it is mine indeed. here's the songs and artists: 1. Aria - Ayumi Hamasaki this is an interlude from her last album. I thought it'd be a nice way to start off the album. And I love the contrast between the strings and the modern beat. 2. crossroad - Ayumi Hamasaki You were right to connect this to the intro as its from the same album haha. I love the instrumental in this song. The strings are just gorgeous and I love how it builds up! Ayumi's voice is amazing in this! 3. Dr. Feel Good - Rania This is a total guilty pleasure of mine. The chorus reminds me of Sweet Dreams as well. Been listening to this non stop haha. 4. Neonlights - Rio Girls Newish girl group from Germany. I love the dark/electro sound to this. Very 80s. I really love their look as well. 5. Deep Sleep - Nabiha One of my favorite new artists of last year. This is such a feel good song, it's super catchy and Nabiha's voice is awesome. 6. Crayons - Donna Summer I love the reggae sound to this. I agree the lyrics can be a little cringe-worthy at times haha. Still love the song though. 7. Tu No Eres Para Mi - Fanny Lu This is a super catchy song from the Colombian singer. Really good mix of latin music with pop/rock. 8. Face The Light - Girlicious This is one of the only songs that stood out to me from their 2nd album. I don't know why but i almost feel like an ominous presence in the chorus. It has the smallest hint of darkness imo. 9. Wrapped - Gloria Estefan Love the use of andean instruments in this song. It creates an extremely organic sounding song and yet it still works as a pop record. Gloria's voice as always is amazing. Love the pan flutes in the chorus. 10. Passion - Geri Halliwell Love the cheezyness to this song. I actually think the song really suits her extremely limited voice. She sounds so good in it. 11. Don't Take It Personal - Monrose Love this track by my favorite German girlgroup. A little experimental and dark but I love the sound they create on it. 12. Because of You - AFter School One of my fave k-pop songs of all time. The piano melody is so pretty and sad. I think this is quite an amazing song in general and not just for k-pop. The melodies and harmonies are quite complex. I love the piano with the strings and the synthesizers. It makes for quite a beautiful track. 13. Que Sera De Mi - Venus I love this spanish girl group. I guess you could say this is a typical ballad but I just love the sounds of their voices, especially in the choruses which they each get a chance o sing solo. 14. Give A Little Love Get A Little Love - Edita Love this album track from the Xfactor Germany winner. the whole album is an incredibly mature, yet catchy pop sound. Love this track! 15. Blue Noir - Mylene Farmer LOVE this track from the French songstress. Her voice is divine on the chorus. The lyrics are quite beautiful as well. 16. Honestly - Charlotte Church My favorite song from her current album. I love how it builds up to the bridge and the final chorus. It feels like such a personal song and she puts so much passion into her singing. 17. Resentment - Victoria Beckham This is an early recording of what would eventually become the song on Beyonce's second album. I've always preferred this toned down, softly sung version. Victoria is not an amazing singer but her tone really works for this song. She sounds sooo good here. 18. No Regrets - t.A.T.u I totally agree with the vocals being subpar. Can't really expect much from this duo. But the song is totally epic imo. It seems to try and build itself up to this climax but it never ends up happening. 19. Esa Hembra Es Mala - Gloria Trevi Trevi's voice is definitely not for everyone, especially in this song which really shows off her wild side vocally. I love the emotion and pain she conveys.
