  1. I didn't mean you Martyn! You didn't mention the word 'gutted' once - the 'you' bit from me was for all those who had expressed that feeling! The only reason I quoted you was because of the '72' hours point you mentioned!
  2. I think its a shame about Gemma (I thought she was quite funny) I don't however, get all the 'guttedness'! She wasn't all that - and she certainly wasn't the most entertaining of them. If there is any truth in the bit I've bolded above - then she really can't think that much of her fans can she? Obviously not as gutted as you!
  3. I think of all of them - he is my least favourite (I still haven't made my mind up completely). Going in - for me he was the most famous and I really wanted to like him - but you're right - he seems a bit of an arrogant snob. I'm quite impressed with Craig Charles (which I'm surprised at given I can't stand Lloyd in Corrie!)
  4. If he paid his dues he and his ilk would be without fame. Who knows - maybe its an incentive for him/them.
  5. I just can't stand Geldof and his like. http://www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2012/05...is-tax-affairs/ I'll be making a direct donation to Medecins Sans Frontieres instead.
  6. I'm quite enjoying this series. Glad that it seems voters are not picking on just one person (given Jimmy's antics in his trial - which I thought were hilarious - I thought they'd go for him again). I do like Carl for his honesty though. I wouldn't mind him winning - although at this moment I'm actually liking all the camp-mates - even Gemma!
  7. Just saw a post on DS which made me giggle: "I was walking past my fridge last night and thought I heard two onions singing a Bee Gees song. But when I opened the door, it was just the chives talking."
  8. I may have an early bet on this for either Carl or Mel to win.
  9. The thing with IACGMOOH is that it doesn't matter how famous (or UNfamous) the contestants are - its still a good show in itself. Already - my favourite is the Playboy girl Kendra. Any nice-looking young girl who says she 'spits, belches and farts' with the best of them is good in my books!
  10. It's Tracy Emin - what did you expect?
  11. Oddly enough - for sis and myself - the best thing about the Progress Tour was the Robbie bit (apart from 'Angels' where I had to go for a loo-break - I can't help it - I detest that song). Both sis and I could finally see what all the fuss about Robbie is (although I don't think I could stomach a whole two hours of him) he certainly does have this thing called charisma - which only as a group Take That can muster.
  12. I should add that three of the nine I went to were gifts from other people! One of them I went to to combine a visit to a city I'd always wanted to visit (it was also possibly my favourite concert - the BW gig in Belfast).
  13. Do you know what Pippa? I went to a 10CC concert a few years back and I happened to be sitting next to a fellow Take That fan (I was still a fan at the time and looking forward to The Circus tour). We got chatting and it transpired that she had managed to buy tickets for EVERY SINGLE ONE of the tour tickets. I don't know where she got the money from - or how the hell she'd managed to get time off work to go to the concerts (maybe she was just very rich and had a husband who couldn't wait to get shut of her) I didn't want to ask. Anyway - what I'm trying to say is that TT will always have great ticket sales because they DO have a lot of fanatical fans like this one. I must admit - my family feared for my sanity when I went to as many gigs as I went to! I was almost as mad - glad I woke up to be honest! Having said that - if Jeff Lynne announced he was going to do a tour - I think I'd get to as many gigs as I possibly could!!!!

Its the principle though - that TRU were seen to buy a ridiculous product. Still think it was just a set-up and they were told to say they'd buy them (just to keep the viewer guessing as to which team would eventually win).

Then the whole show is (as we all knew it was) a fake.

This is why I cannot buy TA as anything other than a purely fictional comedy series - or at best - a tongue-in-cheek docu-com! If TRU did buy any units of that piece of shite (especially when there are already 'relationship' games on the market anyway) then they're really not doing themselves any favours in the respectability stakes. But you see - I just don't believe they did buy them. Just like I don't believe that anyone bought those jackets a few weeks back - the ones with the pieces of plastic on the shoulders that the team said were epaulettes. I missed the first 15 minutes or so on this - how much time did they have in between being told what their assignment was and to selling the finished product?
  17. How much was your Progress programme Jay? I have to admit - as pricey as The Circus one was - it was exceptionally high quality (although £25 is still too steep) but essentially - just pictures. The Arctic Monkeys' one was only about £6 - but it was incredibly cheap looking - as a memento of the evening it sufficed though (wish I'd stuck with just that and not bothered with the Tee-Shirt) but what can you do when your kid says he wants one? The Beautiful World programme however was EXTREMELY overpriced - at £15 SEVEN YEARS ago. It was supposed to have been made on recycled paper (which was extremely shit quality) but hey! they're helping to save the planet!
  18. Not this time. I've absolutely no interest in them now whatsoever. I wasn't all that fond of the last album anyway and this one doesn't seem to be much better. I must admit though that I think those ticket prices are bloody ridiculous! The last time I went to one of their Arena Tours (Beautiful World) the face price of the ticket was somewhere around the £49 mark. And to think - they only need to split the bulk of the profits three ways now!!!!! Considering wages have gone down (and that is all the supporting cast will get) Take That really are getting greedier by the minute! I wouldn't even pay the prices they're asking now to see Elvis Presley if they dug him and John Lennon up to do a combined concert! A word of warning - DON'T buy any merchandise. The programmes may be an exception as you'll probably want a memento. I've bought a programme from two of the tours (The Beautiful World one was £15 and The Circus one was £25 - both were good quality - the BW one slightly less so - although its USP was it was made of recycled paper - still overpriced) and I'm keeping them as one day - some mug may buy one at a boot sale from me one of these days. The other stuff however is absolute crap quality. A lady sat next to us at one of the Circus gigs bought a 'silver' (white metal) charm bracelet and it fell to bits the minute she got it out of the bag. It really does annoy me the merchandise sold at events - it IS something that the artist can have some sort of say in (as they get a cut of the profits there too). I've bought two concert tee-shirts for my son - and Arctic Monkeys one (£25) and a Billy Joel one (£25). I can tell you - the AM one is absolutely awful - the wording started to come off straight away and the material its made of isn't too great. The Billy Joel one however - is fabulous. Really good quality cotton and the imaging seems to be inset in the fabric rather than overlaid onto it - so it hasn't faded a bit (and its been washed loads of times).
  19. I'm glad you got tickets to see them Pete - I know from our conversations here over the years that you've always wanted to but have always missed out. You will have a great time - from seeing them nine times now - I can guarantee that their shows are a spectacle.

I'd love Pamela to go. Daniel is too funny. Awful feeling Lauren (unfairly) will go. Edit! Phew!!!! So glad the right one went.
  21. It would appear a tad hypocritical if they were to take part. Mind you hypocrisy hasn't stopped Bono! I agree with Jay727 though on the song itself - I can't stand it. I didn't even like the first version.

To be honest - I couldn't see the point of a Cilla return (even despite the fact that I do like Wendy Peters) as Beth had more or less filled the void that the character left - although Beth's character is a bit more palatable than Cilla. Having said that - I do like the scenes with Cilla and Craig - and more tellingly what its brought out in Chesney. Cannot forgive Cilla though for having the awful Fiz as a daughter!
  23. I'm quite impressed with Michael Buerk actually - but a bit shocked as well - he's just too good for this! Also a bit topical in that it was his report on Ethiopia that inspired the original Band Aid phenomenon. The rest of them are a bunch of nobodies.

Just watched some trailers - looks like it'll be back on form.
