I think the I still think the way this scenario was handled in Brookside was more convincing though.

For me it was just a bit of a step back following the excellence (and almost back to top form) of 'The Grove'. I've just never bought into the Glenn/Maggie thing anyway - I've found their relationship unbelievable from the off (but I digress). I also find Maggie a trifle unbelievable in that as much as she's gone on and on about Glenn (a bloke she hasn't known for very long) in the separation - she's never mentioned someone she's known from birth - and someone she would have moved heaven and earth for to stop committing suicide in series 2 - her very own sister, Beth. I know its leading up to something good next week so I am sticking with it at least until then.

I'd rather they killed off Glenn than Maggie. Glenn has become so tedious and pointless a character (bloody annoying and endangering to other characters). After the excellent previous episode - I found last Monday's episode another of those steps back. Another meandering sort of episode. I'm sticking around for the finale but not sure what happens after that. Seriously - who is actually buying this guy who is supposed to know the cause of the outbreak (and can somehow 'save the world') - he looks about as useless as Homer Simpson. It was good to see Tasha Yar in the final scene of the last episode though.

I'd say its the best episode since any episode of series 1 and was much, much needed to snap my attention back to it. Melissa McBride is priceless.

She is a pain in the arse for sure! Tim is really growing on me now. I can't believe how a character who was brought in as an appendage to the annoying brat that is Faye could make such an impression on me - but together with Sally - he's one half of a potentially brilliant comic act (which is Corrie's strongest point). Please though writers - kill Tina off soon.

Brilliant episode. Almost back to the standard of the best of series 1. Melissa McBride is without doubt the best actor in this show. I found tonight's episode heart-breaking at times.

Hill Street Blues Homicide: Life on the Street Spyforce (an ancient Australian drama from the 70's)

Really sad news - to be expected a man of his years - but still sad. Was reading some of his quotes and he was a very witty as well as an intelligent, caring man. Me and my best friend fancied him like crazy (he was an incredibly attractive man in his youth - still handsome in his later years).

Emmerdale has been great lately though. I really love the Val/Eric storyline.

This has been great lately but why do soaps get it wrong when it comes to funerals and cremations? I know someone who has investigated the costs of his own funeral. He was told that only wood coffins can go for cremations! Anything else (wicker, card, fabric, whatever) ignites too quickly! Gemma's coffin was not wood. Come to think of it - Corrie made the same error with Hayley's funeral as well!
  11. This is where I started to laugh. I'm sure if the guy was living on his own and relied on the wage for his rent/lodgings, food, other expenses - then he would probably have stuck the job out. The only person who is going to be left financially out of pocket here is his mum.

I get the idea of the separations and the 'little' stories they have but some are more successful than others. 'Still' (the Daryl/Beth) episode was a total waste of an opportunity.
  13. Fingers and toes crossed for Wigan tomorrow! Not much hope mind ... but you never can tell!

I take ANYTHING Vince Cable says with a pinch of salt. I once had some misguided respect for the guy! Glad I've now seen the light.

Hoping it picks up a bit this coming episode when (reportedly) two of the groups meet up. I just want it to get back to an ensemble cast instead of this meandering, fragmented mess it has become.

Brookside had some of the best storylines going in any soap ever - until it started going tits up! I blame Claire Sweeney!

I wonder if they'll do a Brookside rip-off! The one where . Kath

I just found last night's episode so painful to watch. Reedus's acting is at times atrocious - and I can't believe I'm saying that as Daryl was my favourite character for a long, long time. I don't mind slow episodes if there is a point to them. The episode with Carl & Michonne (interspersed with the scenes of Rick hiding in the house - genuine tension) was pretty good and we discovered stuff about Michonne - and Carl grows more likeable by the moment. But last night's episode was just slow with no redeeming features at all.

Horses for courses then. For me - series 4 has been rubbish so far (apart from the Michonne & Carl interaction). What did last night's episode tell us about Daryl that we didn't already know? There was zero character development there. Of the two last night - Beth was more bearable than Daryl - but these two actors aren't strong enough to carry a whole episode by themselves. The beauty of TWD in the early days was its ensemble cast appeal. I don't really give a hoot about the zombies - they can't plot and scheme like a true adversary - they just make a gurgling sound and look (and very probably smell) bad. It seems that the writers whenever there is a lull - throw a few of them in and its just old hat! I'll watch it next week as I believe two of the groups are to be reunited and hopefully there'll be some action - or at least - interaction.

Is anyone else sticking with this show? Nearly at the end of Series 4 now and last night's episode was a new low. Its beyond boring now - its just laughable. Bad ideas, lazy writing, direction-less direction and godawful acting! I'm starting to wholeheartedly agree with those people on IMDb that I once called trolls!

But to be honest does seem to be getting very, very uptight and nervous lately (even if the object of this frustration is not Tina) in a way that could lead to murder. Maybe he truly IS terrified of . Anyway - I just hope it isn't who has turned out to be a bloody good addition to the cast of Corrie despite a wobbly start, or for that matter who along with provides some of Corrie's funniest lines. Bloody hell! Typing those spoiler tags is bloody tiring!!!!

The possible scenario you give is the reason I did add to the original gang-of-four on page 2 of this thread. I do think it would have been more plausible however if they'd kept in the show until Tina's demise (even if it was on a back-burner - as I find him terrifically boring). It just seems so hurried if they make him the murderer - mind you a lot of what Corrie has done lately seems to have been done hastily.

The thought had crossed my mind - but I think that boat has sailed. Her killer is obviously going to be someone who is already scheduled to leave so for one reason (or motive) or another - my money is now on .

This - 100% - I wouldn't even watch a pure romantic film if I had nothing else to do and was paid to do so (unless it was a substantial sum). Favourite rom-com - Teacher's Pet (Clark Gable and Doris Day) - Regina if you've not seen this - you HAVE to!

This is why I find him potentially very dangerous.
