At last some compassion from the Tories.
Can't stand the woman. She's just as bad as every other Conservative leader. So much for people 'having more control over their lives' when her government has overturned Lancashire County Council's decision to block Fracking.

Coronation Street
I absolutely loved Vinny calling Eileen a silly bint! I really can't wait for her to lose every penny! Cannot stand the character.

Its that Prokofiev bit running through it that draws me in. But as I say - the video is fun.

I quite like Rob's new song - but prefer the original to be heard here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUmq1cpcglQ Rob's video is fun though!

Pippa have you been watching Emmerdale?

Emmerdale
How the hell no-one here is talking about Emmerdale is mind-boggling. It positively wipes the floor with EE & Corrie. If it doesn't get awards for these last few episodes then we know awards cannot be taken seriously (if they ever were of course). I haven't cried at a TV show since the episode of The Royle Family when Nana died.

Coronation Street
Craig started off with some promise though - but I agree - its cringeworthy now. And Faye -(who - the actor - was once vilified for her acting) has actually come on quite nicely. Having said that - as someone who notices sound effects - Craig's throwing up behind the couch was one of the best foley-artist work I've heard in a long time.

I really wish they'd kill Eva off!

He was lovely. I took some pictures of him as people were milling around but didn't want to ask for a selfie (I just don't like them). I went up to him and told him how much I appreciated his work (I didn't even call him Ken - I called him Mr Loach). I did point out to him a lady who couldn't get close enough (she was in a wheelchair). He thanked me - and acknowledged the lady and then gestured to her that he would be over in a minute. A really lovely man (just go on IMDb to see his impressive output).

I got to meet and shake hands with a hero of mine yesterday. The wonderful film director Ken Loach. I'm certain none of you will know of him as you're a lot younger than me - but you must surely have heard of Kes at least. https://www.theguardian.com/film/2016/sep/1...benefits-system

Coronation Street
Despite everything - Corrie is worth sticking with for David Platt/Jack P Shepherd alone! Consistently one of the best actors/characters in soaps for the last few years. From a really cute child actor to a fairly excellent adult actor.

Coronation Street
I actually don't mind Caz. She's not great by any stretch of the imagination - but there are at least another 10 characters who I'd prefer to be written out before her - Fiz, Tyrone, Beth, Kirk, Sinead, Chesney, Izzy for a start.

Coronation Street
Looking forward to David's revenge-by-proxy on Lauren tomorrow!

I can't stand any of it. The live shows are almost as bad as the auditions - but at least you can have a guilty laugh at some of the auditions. I just find them all very ordinary. I can walk through my hometown any lunchtime at work (as I'm sure you all can) and hear buskers immeasurably superior to some of those X-Factor finalists. They're genuinely talented.

The Back For Good & Bee Gees Urban Myth!!!
I'd heard it but thought it was pants. For a start - Barlow had set the path to writing an absolute classic by having a couple of not too shabby songs under his belt already. Pray and Everything Changes were pretty good songs. And I honestly don't see the reasoning that Barry Gibb would write the song (and not take the credit) in return for Take That doing a cover of HDIYL? The main reason though that I can't see the truth in it is ... although I do think the tune to BFG is truly beautiful ... some of the lyrics in it are just not mature enough for someone of the age Gibb would have been in the mid 90's. They're a young man's lyrics - a bit clumsy and naive even and lyrics that I believe only a young man could write. Anyway - Never Forget was better!

Number One's
It is indeed scary that we agree on so much! I'm sure I read somewhere though that Gary only wrote Babe (for Mark specifically) because Nigel asked him to (as Nigel - being on the ball as he was - knew that Mark was so popular despite his singing limitations). Its for this reason that 'Babe' is fairly boring - as it was built for Mark's vocals. And .... before any Mark fans have a go at me ... Mark's vocals at the time WERE very limited. I must say though - of recent output - the songs that Mark has lead vocals on - have been my favourite TT songs - especially 'Up All Night' and 'Hold up a Light'.

Easy - Babe! Just dreadful.

BST Live at Hyde Park Summer Show
If SW does do numbers from SITKOL it'll be worth it just for 'I Wish' a brilliant album. Couldn't have made much of a stir - nothing in the papers. Which way was he ranting (I'm assuming he was a remainer - like me!)

BST Live at Hyde Park Summer Show
What are you talking about?
-
BST Live at Hyde Park Summer Show
I hope whoever goes to see SW has a good time - but I know from someone who went to see one of his Manchester shows a few years back - they were disappointed that he did only one song from his back-catalogue - the rest was all new stuff. I'd have loved to see Carole King but I'm too old now to go to stadium/outdoor concerts now - I like my comforts too much.

Rule the World vs Patience.
We agree again! :magic:

Next Conservative leader?
I agree totally with this. The exit is largely of his making so he should take the reigns and steer us in the right direction. Unicorns at the ready.
-
EU Referendum Night
I hope we're both wrong - but I'm starting to think it is a possibility that Leave could be the result. How horrifying to know that the bleak future of generations to come has been decided by stupid people.

EU Referendum Night
Exit polls can't always be relied upon though.

Don't forget that most influential of people ... the brain that is Liz Hurley!
