The system is a joke because you can't rank albums according to "units" and say one album is number one despite accumulating fewer sales, but then discount those extra units later on. Either they count as part of an album's total (weekly total and running total) or they don't.

I listened to Hard Candy in full yesterday. Never been a fave of mine but the songs are all well produced, well mastered and reasonably well sung, and I didn't get the urge to press skip once. I think she can easily make an album of that quality again, and this is maybe a step in the right direction, but nothing here is quite as good as the best of mdna.

Quite a few songs are really starting to grow on me now. The best ones are the ones where her vocal is not awful, ie. Hold Tight, Rebel Heart, Joan of Arc, Addicted, Body Shop. Rebel Heart and Unapologetic B need to be the next two singles.

I've also become a bigger fan of Music over the last few months. Paradise is something I have to be in the right mood for, although the Confessions version was amazing. I'm with you Bal, I Deserve It is absolutely gorgeous, one of my favourite M album tracks. I also think Don't Tell Me is her most underrated big hit single from the post-RoL era. Those guitar chords hook me instantly.

I don't think mdna is utterly faceless. It has considerably more Madonna dna in it than this album.
