All Fired Up (2nd Single Thread)
I agree that would go a long way to helping, but keeping in mind didn't we have the same sort of "well they should have a slot if such and such can..." on BGT not long ago? I think the chance of Simon promoting The Saturdays is very slim. Moreover, from the new albums standpoint, Wordshaker absolutely tanked but yet it spawned a #2 single (which I did then and I still do love by the way  ), and one of their highest selling singles in Ego, but it still couldn't shift copies. :( So what hope is the new album gonna have? As I said, a lot is riding on All Fired Up and I do hope it delivers, because in this climate an artist delivering minor hits with meek sales are not going to last long. :(

All Fired Up (2nd Single Thread)
I'm feeling a bit controversial today and I've been reading this thread and thinking the same thing for days now reading this... I honestly think The Saturdays are running a dangerous line. First and foremost, I ADORE The Saturdays and have done since day 1. This whole project is going horribly wrong I feel - they made Notorious with a #1 smash in mind, yes? What happened? I don't care if it sold 150k, compared to what the track was expected to do - it flopped, for a lead single from a new studio album from arguably one of the UK's best girlbands, 1 week in the top10 then lulling around the 20's for a while? The whole Notorious campaign went horribly wrong and All Fired Up is going to do the same. I think the song is a bit much, a bit too busy, it actually sounds like a low budget dance track as opposed to a dance / pop single, and the problem with that is - there are a lot of others who do this sound SO much better, it's not what people know them for. I can't imagine the label are particularly happy about the way The Saturdays have performed either. I think I saw someone else say it a while ago, that as a fan, they wish they could be excited or nervous about them getting to #1 or not, as opposed to praying they have another week in the top20. From a labels perspective: Chasing Lights - Decent selling debut album, not amazing, but a solid base to work on. Wordshaker - Tanked. Headlines - A little go-between because they didn't want to have to fund an entire new album, and whilst it did alright in terms of sales, you can argue that the price was low from the start, it wasn't a real album etc, etc. Then when you consider the "Higher" debacle it sort of drags you back to Earth a bit. Notorious - Expected to do massive things chart-wise but completely and utterly falls majorly short of expectations, and THIS is the lead single from the next album... Not looking good from a labels perspective really is it? Now please don't attempt to attack me with facts and figures, I'm a Saturdays fan and I'm just being realistic that a lot needs to change and they have a hell of a lot riding on All Fired Up and I don't think the track is gonna be able to carry the weight. I pray I'm proven wrong because The Saturdays fill a massive girlgroup void now that Girls Aloud have gone AWOL.

One Direction - What Makes You Beautiful
No doubt I'll be a little lonely out on this limb here by myself but I think it's absolute garbage, this genuinely sounds like a Busted b-side reject. The whole faux rock thing, really? I didn't mind them on the X-Factor and thought they probably had the potential to release some pretty catchy songs but if this is a prelude of what's to come then I can't see my interest extending any further. Am I the only person that thinks cheap, early Busted / McFly reject? Just to throw the cat amongst the pigeons, even though she's pretty much detested universally, at least Cher Lloyd did something a bit different...

Cher Lloyd - Sticks + Stones
With Ur Love (with Mike Posner) could be huuuuuuuge.

Incredibleeeeeeeeee. Love it. That's me musically sorted for a while... Oh and yes I need a good rip or a YouTube video or something I cannot find it to listen again! Well done Leona, a different direction for her, one which I think will be very successful for her. A much better start to a campaign than Happy was, in my opinion. BRING ON THE ALBUM! :w00t:

The Apprentice 7
No, they were fined £100 but it made no difference anyway because they still won... They were fined for not reinvesting because that was what the task was about! It seemed like Natasha was focusing on just getting rid of the stock she had, despite the fact that Lord Sugar said he would attribute the cost price of their remaining stock to their assets, meaning that it didn't matter whether they had stock or cash - it would all be counted as assets in regards to their total. But yeah I'm glad they were fined and didn't get their treat. I utterly despise Natasha and Melody equally, but just to wipe that smile off Natasha's face. They did deserve to be fined though, it's like Lord Sugar giving you £250 to buy and sell stuff, but just keeping the £250 and then giving it back to him. Business is ALLLLL about reinvestment and Natasha showed that she had no idea what that was about. I actually watched You're Fired! though and enjoyed it. Melody was completely ridiculed and I'm glad she was, seeing her on the show is one thing because programmes can be edited badly etc. but just take 1 look at her Twitter to see what a positively DELIGHTFUL person she is. Before she went on BBC2, calling Dara O'Brian fat? Erm having a spat with (QoL) Liz Locke over nothing? Sucking up to Stella from last year? Saying she hates Natasha and Zoe? One of her latest tweets telling people who are negative about her that she doesn't care because she is "better than all of them"... Is this really the type of woman who should be "motivationally speaking" to kids? Oh and it became painfully obvious on You're Fired that that IS all she actually did. Dara questioned her thoroughly at the start of the show and I cringed at how little she was able to say, she physically couldn't explain what she does, other than motivational speaking. She's nothing more than a storm in a teacup. Vile, vile, snotty, middle class c**t - no doubt "self made" straight from Daddy's pocket, take Al Gore and shove him up your arse petal. All in all, she's a canny lass aye.

The Apprentice 7
I absolutely ADORED Zoe... Initially she did irritate me because of how monotone and nasal she was but I really warmed to her, among my friends at work we've ascertained it's because I'm actually a lot like her, she does allow her emotions to show in her work which Karren said on "You're Fired!" on BBC2 which I found quite endearing, I thought it was quite touching in one of the earlier episodes when she started crying when she knew the task had gone tits up, it showed how much she actually cared. Many faults, yes - but I actually loved her! Knew she wouldn't win but loved her nonetheless. Now onto Melody... I DESPISE her. As somebody else rightly said, such a spoilt little brat!!! That's THREE tasks I count now where she's lied about the focus groups and tried to sway them to her own idea. That popcorn thing was abysmal and would have physically died on its' arse. What I loved though was when in the boardroom how Zoe said "ah well after the last task she lied and said Lord Sugar couldn't say anything bad about her and praised her for the awards" okay I'm paraphrasing but y'get the gist. Pleased somebody showed her up as the manipulative liar she is. I not only want her fired, I want her dead*. Thankyou and goodnight. *Not really.

X-Men: First Class
Yeaaaah! I would like to see a 4th, but at the same time with them having killed off 3 major characters in Scott, Jean and Prof. X you would think it's a bit of a bum deal. I'd like to see some sort of follow up to what happened with Magneto though, considering we were left hanging in regard to whether he actually still did have his powers or not.

X-Men: First Class
Would Patrick Stewart necessarily be in a potential X-Men 4 film though? Considering the Prof. was vapourised by Jean in the third installment...

X-Factor: Dannii Out, Tulisa In
Interesting topic! Whilst I'll miss Dannii (being a fan of hers to be honest) I think there's some loons that are COMPLETELY overestimating her appeal, or maybe just underestimating the popularity of the show. I mean this in the greatest of respects, but not having Dannii on the panel is hardly going to make millions switch off, is it? As somebody else rightly pointed out, the show was successful before Dannii, and after Sharon which people thought would be a struggle after the same cynics on this forum deemed the appointment of Cheryl Cole absolutely LUDICROUS. Look how that turned out. I reckon people need to stop whinging about losing Simon, Cheryl and Dannii and start thinking about the positives. I do agree with Kath though, as with BGT - Simon is the major player on the show, I would go as far to say he IS irreplaceable. Right onto these "potential" new judges. Kelly Rowland - I reckon she could do a decent job, but I don't think she'd fit well with Barlow and Louis. Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Love her as an artist, but I reckon she's far too niche to appeal to the mainstream X-Factor audience. Tulisa - Yaaaack. I like Tulisa from what I've seen of her on a personal level on that hideous reality TV show with the other 2 cavemen, but as Kath said too (you do make some good points Kath, it's almost not worth me bothering  ) she's far too young, has very little experience, hasn't been in the industry very long and I don't think if you asked 100 people on the street who she was, judging by a photograph they'd be able to recognise her, which I think is the problem. Of course, being on the X-Factor would change that. Katy Perry - As much as I loved her stint on last years XF, she's far too much of a big name, and I reckon Roo's right, Fox would never have chosen Cheryl OR that hideous Abdul woman over the global megastar Katy Perry. Alesha Dixon - This is wrong on SO, SO, SO many levels. She cannot possibly replace either Dannii or Cheryl, I honestly think that would be a terrible move. I like Alesha as an artist and from interviews she's done but have any of you actually seen her judge? She is horrendous. One of these "yeah it was brilliant" when it was completely hideous, plus it wreaks of disloyalty on her part. Considering the Beeb went through all that drama when she replaced Arlene just to get her on board - plus Alesha personally got a lot of flack for that which I do think damaged her reputation in part. Others have mentioned Leona too, again, NO WAY. Leona is waaaay too shy and nice to be able to criticise someone, plus she's only released 2 albums - hardly time to sit back and rest on your laurels, and that's where Leona's focus is, where it should be, on her music at such a stage in her career. Some names which I'm surprised HAVEN'T been tossed around yet are, Jamelia (great personality, talented, already had 10yrs + experience), Joss Stone (yeah I'd hate her on it too, but it's no more stupid than Tulisa), Natalie Imbruglia (career in the pan at the moment, well known, talented, plenty experience), Natasha Bedingfield (again, some loons may argue she's successful but she isn't, her career is also in the pan, but she's well known, talented, experienced, why not?). I do agree that Lily Allen would have been perfect, gutter she doesn't want to! Please no more Spice Girls though, having Bunton and her faux pleasantries on Dancing On Ice is enough.

Notorious - 10th Single - 22 May 2011
I'm quite looking forward to the single premiering! I'm a huge Saturdays fan and desperately want them to be successful. Whilst I love the sound of Notorious, as some have already said I'm just a bit concerned it'll be a bit "marmite" to appeal to the right people. I still reckon it'll be a hit for them, but whether it'll have mass appeal I'm not so sure. The girls don't exactly have the greatest track record of having perfect lead singles, If This Is Love, Forever Is Over, Missing You... (All of which I loved, personally - but weren't exactly monster hits), but I hope this changes things. I wouldn't get your hopes up of having a #1 next weekend, keeping in mind very, very few people have even heard any version of the song yet, let alone the finished article. I think promotion has been a bit limited so far, I don't think the majority of people know there's a new single even coming, unless you're somewhat of a fan and look for that kind of info of course. I really like the sound of it, different to what they've done before, but whilst I like it, it does seem like they've specifically chosen a song that's incredibly catchy, commercial, urban, which strays from their usual sound, and it seems evident that they've only strayed to try and get that elusive #1, which I'm all for from a business sense and as a fan. If picking an incredibly mainstream song is going to get them more attention, and most importantly - SUCCESS - then it has to be done. All in all, I'm looking forward to it.

S02E19: 'Rumours'
I have started watching Glee this season, I didn't watch any of the first season but thought I'd check out the second to see what all the fuss is about. I have to say I actually really like it, and the reason why I chose to comment on this topic inparticular, is because this episode highlighted one of the reasons I like the show so much - it opens the audience up to tracks they would never have stumbled across usually. I wasn't really familiar with Fleetwood Mac at all, but a lot of the tracks sounded excellent so I decided to download some of the originals and have been listening to them constantly, as well as the Glee versions too. Oh, and I thought Songbird was a bit ropey? Not a patch on the original. I know that's not the intention of the show, to better the originals, but I didn't think it was done particularly well, don't let her sing the song if she doesn't have the register to hit the notes! The entire song was more or less sang in a different key, which detracted from it I thought.

'Born This Way' ● Album Discussion Thread
I actually agree with Jark, I wouldn't say it's particularly left-field on the whole - but you can tell she's meticulously perfected this, which I think is pretty rare nowadays, from an artist having that much creative input particularly. Really growing on me now, Hair and The Edge of Glory have grown on me massively, Marry The Night is still brilliant, and I was one of the (few) people that loved both Born This Way and Judas anyway. I was just catching up with her Radio1 Big Weekend performance on iPlayer, and as someone who is a fan (not a loon by any stretch, but able to judge without bias I reckon), I think it's clear what an absolute star she is. I didn't get the chance to catch the Monster Ball Tour, and this is really the first live "set" of sorts I've seen her do and I was incredibly impressed, what a spectacle. She literally had the audience eating out of her hands, and I think it's a testament to how huge she has become by the fact that the crowd were literally chanting every lyric back to her. You lose sight of how many huge hits she's had until they're all condensed into a setlist, for her short time in the industry I think it's safe to say she's the biggest breakout star we've seen in quite sometime. I actually can't even remember the last time somebody had this much impact on the industry so soon, during my lifetime anyway. I take my hat off to her! :music:

Jennifer Lopez - Love? • Album Discussion
Been listening to this and I'm actually really impressed! I didn't think she was capable of another great body of work (I do consider her last few efforts to have been a bit ropey aside from a few standouts). The highlights for me thus far are On The Floor (obvs), I'm Into You, Love? (NEEDS to be a single at some point) and Papi. Meaning she has enough tracks to be singles to flog the album, I really hope she manages to pull her music career back around, I definitely think American Idol had a major impact in pushing her back into the spotlight, I read an interview where she said she was unsure as to what she was doing in terms of returning for next seaon of AI, she would be foolish not to IMO. Oh and I can't remember who said it, but yeah I totally get the "Run The World" comparisons to Mariah, it probably could fit straight in on Memoirs!

'Judas' ● 2nd Single
Excellent video, I really liked it. We have had a few ropey videos from her now... I do like Born This Way, and I love how individualistic she is - however, the whole giving birth (graphically) to herself etc, etc was just a bit too much, she did say in a recent Ellen interview that she feels she needs to out-GaGa herself, which I think the Born This Way video is proof of. She knew it was her "comeback" and really wanted to push the envelope. Anywhooo, I think the Judas video is superb - obviously going to get a lot of stick for the Biblical references and how the scenes have been portrayed but I liked the dramaticism of it and like everybody else said, just how normal she looked for a change, I really hope it injects some life into the single. Don't get me wrong I like both Born This Way and Judas, but they aren't really a patch on her biggest hits (Poker Face, Bad Romance), but I think everybody is going a little OTT with it, sure there's a distinct difference in quality, but in the same instant if Madonna had released Born This Way it would have been "da most revolutionary fing lyk eva", but because GaGa attracts negative attention unfortunately she's being slated left, right and centre. I think people need to cut her a bit of slack, she's still one of the best musicians on the planet right now and I'd take her over 90% of the so-called "greats" combined, regardless of a small dip in quality.

Nicole Scherzinger 'Killer Love'
I pretty much agree with a lot of the other sentiments in this thread, should've been Killer Love in my opinion, but I don't think it's a total disaster, after I saw the video I felt a lot better about it - it could be a decent medium sized hit for her over the Summer. I think maybe Killer Love would've been a bit too samey for her to release anyway, she needed to tackle something a little different to show how diverse the album is.

Meh let them love him! These are the same people that slag off Ric Flair, HBK (and my personal lifelong favourite) Triple H all the time. Heavily rumoured that HBK is gonna cost Trips the match. :o One won't be happy! He won't win anyway like, that streak will never be broken, but I'd rather he was beaten fair and square. Completely ignoring the fact that it's all pre-empted, naturally.

Well hello to you too. ^_^ I'm never logged in here anymore, but I view the site (literally) everyday to keep up to date. I may have departed long ago, and I am no longer an Admin :drama: but I still believe this forum is the best place for chart and entertainment news. I'm like an AMBASSADOR if you will.
