'Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel'
BRILLIANT NEWS! :D Come on Mariah! :funky: I don't think this album is going to be one of her big sellers by any means but by the sounds of things (little anticipation, pushed back etc.) it may become one of those fan-favourites, a-la Butterfly.

Whitney Houston 'I Look To You'
Brilliant stuff! :D We should be hearing Mill Dollar Bill REALLY soon then all things considered. I feel blasphemous for even thinking this but something inside me is making me look forward to Whitney more than Mariah. :o

Whitney Houston 'I Look To You'
I really hope Million Dollar Bill is in the same sort of vein as Whatchulookinat... I know it was pretty much universally panned but I must admit it's one of my favourite Whitney tracks EVER. The lyrics, the intro, the attitude (albeit crazy!) - amazing! It's parent album was quite the mess though.

Whitney Houston 'I Look To You'
Loving this at the moment! Great track and definitely better than I Didn't Know My Own Strength (whilst the latter is still good, it's certainly not single material), looking at the release schedule though she's cutting things pretty fine. August has crept up and will be upon us within a few days, then it's 4 weeks or so til the albums release and there's still no clearly defined single (having not heard the rumoured single!), not much airplay, no video, no promotion as of yet. It's still a big mystery even so soon before the release, I know it's to build anticipation but come on we've been waiting since 2002. Throw us a bone here!

Christina Aguilera - Bionic
Summer is almost gone and we've heard nothing about this album. Come on Christina! :arrr:

'Obsessed'
I know what you mean AAC but I think everyone was expecting a Touch My Body-esque smash hit #1 straight off the bat (me included)... However, I agree with you both, I have played it hundreds of times too and i'm not anywhere near done with it yet. ^_^

'Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel'
Gah! Confirmed now. :( I wanted to have the album as my anniversary present, now I have it as my birthday present. Does that mean she's going to be re-scheduling her promo dates? There's not really much point performing a mini concert on the Today show three weeks before the album's release... I'm pleased she's steering clear of Whitney (who i'm pretty sure is in for a #1), but it gets even worse when she's up against possibly the biggest rapper in the US. :arrr: It's all about timing and this is all going terribly wrong already... Until I see Obsessed finally starting to pick up on iTunes (and it's failing pretty quickly all things considered) i'm deeming it unsuccessful. :( I don't know how to read these airplay charts. How is she doing?

'Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel'
Okay i've been reading up and the official promo dates thus far are: BET - July 23rd, small interview and introducing the video. - SNORE Performing on the America's Got Talent results show on August 5th - BRILLIANT! Mini concert on the Today Show on the album's release, like what she did with E=MC2 on GMA last year... - BRILLIANT! So at least she is lining up some good promo... Now all we need is a good lengthy interview, like Oprah or Ellen, or both even. :kink:

'Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel'
This had better not be true. :arrr: They can't do this really... Just because Obsessed wasn't the smash hit #1 they wanted they can't keep pushing it back until they finally get a hit. I know that may seem sensible, but it's just not fair. Plus, an album being pushed back basically starts some kind of press frenzy, then the album gets a bad reputation before it's even out and then it bombs. Let's take a look at Nicole Scherzinger (all singles flopped, album was shelved completely), Keri Hilson (a few flop singles, finally a sizeable hit, album released, and is now flopping), 50 Cent (this has been forever pushed back and will flop when released), Kelly Clarkson's "My December" (loads of bad press about the poor quality of the album and in-fighting with her label and the finally tanked when it was released)... I'm not liking the sound of this one bit. :arrr: I just don't even understand what the problem is with Obsessed. I personally think the song is ACE, I can see it appealing to a lot of people, the video is brilliant and funny, she looks hot, it's leaps and bounds better than Touch My Body. So why isn't it huge? I just can't work it out. Don't get me wrong it's been very badly timed all things considered, but there's still time to sort that out... She just needs to get her arse on Oprah or Ellen or Letterman or America's Got Talent... Just SOMETHING! :arrr:

Jordin Sparks | SOS (Let The Music Play) | #11 UK iTunes!
AMAZING! Adore this song, I can't believe people are saying this is bland - it shows more personality and attitude than her entire debut combined! It's just a perfect pop song, I listen to the song and think the killer verses are my favourite parts until the chorus kicks in and then I start to sway back and forth. I've had this blasting for days. The negative reaction to her album has me worried about the albums potential, but I hope she can make this a hit anyway. I imagine the video to be a bit like a cross between Don't Stop The Music and a more clubbed up version of Forgive Me. I just really hope Jive will give her some money to play with for the video and don't give her different coloured backdrops to dance in front of. Battlefield's video was just dire.

Jordin Sparks - Battlefield
I absolutely ADORE S.O.S. - phenomenal! Such a girly anthem, I can imagine myself bopping away to this, hair flicks and all, minus the baby fat though obvs. Admittedly I haven't really listened to the rest of the album.

Mariah up to #3! :D Although MJ is right behind her and Sean Kingston is catching up too... Cyrus still WAY ahead at #2, but BEP's still way ahead of her at #1! :arrr:

Brandy DROPPED.
Oh come on, this is not a surprise! Human was a brilliant album but was timed all wrong and just blew up in Sony's face. That's 2 major labels she's been with now and both have dropped her, she won't find another major label I would imagine... Which is a shame because she's brilliant. :(

Mariah is gaining on Michael Jackson! :D The video is released today too so that should definitely help...

'Obsessed'
Mariah is gaining on Michael Jackson and is creeping her way to #3! :D Plus the video is out today at some point! I can't wait to see it, it should help it climb I would imagine... :w00t:

Jordin Sparks - Battlefield
Not keen on the few leaked tracks i've heard... I still prefer Freeze, One Step At A Time, No Air, hell, even Tattoo! Battlefield is good, not great, but good enough for a lead single but the supposed best songs remaining on the album are leaving me a bit cold. :(

JLS 'Beat Again' :: DEBUT single!
This is starting to grow on me now... The video is very cheap and so is the production of the track. The record company are clearly a bit unsure, and they have right to be, how many X-Factor rejects are successful? So they're obviously not ploughing the big bucks into them, hopefully it's a hit for them though, i'm keen to hear an album.
-
'Obsessed'
Still stuck at #4... Miley Cyrus has been overtaken by Michael Jackson at #2. So once again Mariah is battling it out with Miley. Saying that, there's another Jackson song at #5 which Mariah is quite far ahead of at the moment but with everything going on at the moment it could soon catch her up. :(

Don't stand for it on Ryanair
I heard on the news a few weeks ago that a flight was cancelled because they asked passengers to sit on one side of the plane to balance out the weight which freaked the passengers out and they didn't want to fly. Bloody Ryanair...

◕‿◕ iTunes Thread ★ July 2009
 It's one of those samples that on paper it really shouldn't work, a bit like when T.I. sampled that O-Zone track (that I won't even try to spell), or when Flo-Rida sampled Eiffel 65, on paper it just looks horrible, but it really works. I hope it's a hit for them, I agree with Gooddelta though, it's definitely a smash hit single in it's own right, but an album seller I don't think it is...

It was actually quite instant for me. :o The lyrics are of course dire to the highest degree but the production is superb and really are the highlight of the track. So much attitude though and it's clear that they've gone across the pond, it smacks of American-isms. However since I can't stop listening to it, that must be a good thing.

As I said in the Sugababes Forum, the single is so trashy and awful, but it has some sort of (albeit slutty) charm about it, and I can't turn it off.
