  1. I do promise proper lil stats and everything once we reach the top 30. I just like to oust the deadwood quickly :heehee: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/__mYMI8-rebI/TR33eG9d6DI/AAAAAAAAAR4/jM2ENHxnzuE/s1600/Annie-Lennox-Hiv-Positive.jpg 72= 60 Annie Lennox 103 72= NE Alexis Jordan 103 74 90 Alesha Dixon 102 75 67 Gabriella Cilmi 100 76 86 Lykke Li 99 A mixed bunch here. Alexis Jordan doing surprisingly well off the back of one album. Her hit potential has waned since the release of said LP though. Gabriella Cilmi is the highest placed artist in the countdown not to make anybody's top 10 (her highest placing was 12). Her career is pretty much on the slide in the UK, which is a shame as her last album was FAR superior to the dreadful stuff she was churning out back in 2008 (I will always LOATHE 'Sweet About Me'). Alesha Dixon, sadly, is also a name of the past though actually climbs this year in the countdown. Hard to believe she has been involved in the music industry for over a decade as Misteeq's debut single reached the top 10 back in 2001. Finally, we reach Annie Lennox. Eurythmics frontwoman and huge solo star during the early 90s, I will always be a fan of Annie's quirkiness and interesting, innovative music. She's up there with Bjork I feel in terms of eccentricity. Sadly, one studio album has been released since her 90s heyday, though she did perform strongly with a Greatest Hits compilation in 2009, even beating Kelly Clarkson's 4th studio album in its week of release. ['Why' <3, 'No More I Love Yous' <3]. Annie also encourages you all to HAVE SAFE SEX. OJHdT1j6hH8
  2. http://www.clashmusic.com/files/imagecache/big_node_view/files/images/pjharvey.jpg 77 65 Jennifer Hudson 96 78 NE PJ Harvey 92 79 27 Cheryl Cole 90 80 NE JoJo 89 81 NE Jamelia 86 Next batch upon us and again I'm surprised at new entries for Jamelia and JoJo. They haven't been relevant for a good 5 years each now have they? Jamelia's material was very hit n miss and she was quite a vile woman from what I've seen, whilst JoJo has apparently been supposed to be releasing a new album for yonks now. That said she did come out with some very good throwaway pop tunes back in the day (take note Rebecca Black). Cheryl Cole becomes the biggest faller in the countdown spiralling 52 places. 'Fight For This Love' aside, I see nothing interesting about the woman a all and it's evident that coupled with last year's X Factor, the mess that was aptly 'Messy Little Raindrops' and US X Factorgate that Cheryl's status as 'The Nation's Sweetheart' is crumbling around her at high speed. I am surprised she's taken such a hit on BJ though. With 5 'Bitch-Slaps', only one artist received more hate from the voters than Ms Cole. Welcome new entry for PJ Harvey at #78 - she's a favourite with the critics winning the acclaimed Mercury Music Prize in 2001 and being nominated again this year, in which she is a strong contender. -AWoZmAxKxg
  3. What is it about Gooddelta and his token flop star coming last in these things? Last year, Vanessa Amorossi, this year Agnes :heehee: I also think you're the only one who gave both of them points.
  4. http://www.tampabay.com/multimedia/archive/00014/b4s_Horler031608_14135c.jpeg 82 78 Santigold 80 83 71 Dusty Springfield 74 84 NE Inna 73 85 NE Nadine Coyle 72 86 NE Natalie Horler 70 I may be a bit harsh during this countdown but Natalie from Cascada? VILE in every sense of the word. I supposes their musical output was decent for about a year before they decided that ripping off current big tracks was the way to go. The public bought into it with their 'Just Dance' tribute 'Evacuate The Dancefloor' which became their first chart topper in June 2009 - but the 'Poker Face' infused 'Pyromania' and recent single 'San Francisco' that doesn't even attempt to disguise the fact it steals from 'California Gurls' showed that interest no longer existed for them. Not even the GA loons could prevent Nadine Coyle from flopping once again. The sooner GA get back together, the better for pop music as far as I'm concerned. Inna is another one who doesn't deserve to be here. I sound like a stuck record but frankly some of the choices are BIZARRE. Even more so that Inna was placed as high as #6 on somebody's chart. Dusty Springfield and Santigold bring a level of respect back to the countdown. I must admit though that the only Dusty material I am aware of is her collaboration with the Pet Shop Boys. FLOP ME. mG8XGXMB0gU

She ties for 87th place with Katy B, who has recently been nominated for the Mercury Music Prize. Personally, I fail to see what's so fascinating about her. I haven't liked one of her songs and she definately strikes me as an artist who nobody will remember by the time Album #2 comes around. Beth Gibbons and Mary J Blige are both on the slide from last year, the former being Portishead's front woman, whilst Laura Marling sparked controversy of her own when she denied Cheryl Cole a BRIT Award this year. Needless to say BuzzJack went into homo-meltdown :heehee: Sadly, Ms Marling doesn't upstage Cheryl in these results though. 8XNaPX6MKlU&ob=av2e
  6. http://imstars.aufeminin.com/stars/fan/sheryl-crow/sheryl-crow-20051103-82220.jpg 92 NE Wynter Gordon 56 93 96 Colbie Caillat 53 94 79 Sheryl Crow 47 95 NE Christina Milian 40 96 NE Natalia Kills 37 Last lot for tonight sees Natalia Kills at #96! I really don't feel she deserves to be included but bleh. At least her output under this guise is better than the hideous Verbalicious! Christina Milian had a slew of hits in the early 2000s. Personally, I was never that fussed but 'Dip It Low' was bearable. She did manage to remain relevant for a good five years after her debut as well. Sheryl Crow has been pretty quiet since the back end of the 90s. Albums have been released but other than a high charting greatest hits compilation in 2004, success has all but dried up. Crow tapped into a market of female pop-rock quite similar to Alanis Morissette. I'd definately place her higher despite not being a huge fan. Colbie Caillat climbs briefly from last year's position, though other than Gooddelta and a few others, I doubt she'll ever be a prominent force in the UK. Finally, we end with Wynter Gordon. I'm still undecided on her but am liking what I've heard. I really don't think we'll be talking about her next year, but hey-ho she could be Nu-Ashanti :o tCRwjtz4g9k
  7. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/7/7f/AgnesCarlssonSweden_cropped.jpg/220px-AgnesCarlssonSweden_cropped.jpg 97 NE Alison Moyet 36 98 NE Cassie 30 99 NE Shingai Shoniwa 25 100 NE Shontelle 16 101 NE Agnes 11 So it begins with a slew of new entries and somebody had to come last. That acolade goes to Agnes. Sadly, I don't know a lot of her material other than the obvious hit 'Release Me' which hit the top 3 in 2009. Shontelle and Cassie are about as forgettable as female RnB artists can get. I'm shocked that anybody even remembers who Cassie is? Shontelle on the other hand did deliver the beautiful 'Impossible', which was rumoured to be Cher Lloyd's winning single had she emerged triumphant on last year's X Factor. Shingai Shoniwa failed to qualify last year and I'm surprised to see her in the list this year considering the Noisettes have failed to release anything of notice since their brief success in 2009. A very poor start really with some of the bland deadwood being cleared out. Huge shame about Alison Moyet though. I have recently discovered her greatness through the 80s duo Yazoo. I demand you check out their big hits 'Don't Go' and 'Only You'. The latter is probably very familiar. FaHuzkyurC0
  8. http://i26.tinypic.com/1118fuq.png So I am pleased to announce the results of the 2nd Annual BuzzJack's Ultimate Female Countdown. Thanks to all 51 posters who voted for the 101 females who made it through to the voting stage. The main questions are: Will Lady Gaga retain her crown? What about the likes of Adele, Katy Perry, Jennifer Lopez, Nicole Scherzinger and others? They've all had a fantastic year and have made significant progress this year but is it enough for any of them to take the #1 spot? Before I post any results here are the 27 females who didn't receive enough nominations to be eligible for this year's competition (with their positions last year), and therefore exit the top 100 to make way for 27 new entries. 47 Duffy 50 Debbie Harry 55 Melanie C 56 Dido 58 Dannii Minogue 61 Tori Amos 64 KT Tunstall 66 VV Brown 70 Elly Jackson 71 Geri Halliwell 76 Ashley Tisdale 77 Faith Hill 80 Kate Nash 81 Siobhan Donaghy 82 Sia 83 Ashlee Simpson 84 Lights 85 Corinne Bailey Rae 86 Sharleen Spiteri 88 Sarah McLachlan 89 Joni Mitchell 93 Luciania 94 Sixousie Sioux 95 Charlotte Hatherley 98 Regina Spektor 99 Courtney Love 100 Vanessa Amrossi
  9. Anybody else care to vote before the results start tomorrow morning?
  10. I think I was being optimistic at Hurts or Patrick Wolf getting nominated :( That said I do love Everything Everything. I'd rather that or Adele to win plz. James Blake had quite a decent album but it was a bit patchy in places. I'm shocked Katy B was included. I can't stand her and I didn't think she'd have so much love with the critics, considering other artists produce her style of music much better. All in all the Adele win is too obvious though the Arctic Monkeys' managed it with their debut in 2006 so you never know. I do feel it will be Adele or PJ Harvey though.

I've seen Katy Perry live. No she's not on the same level as Adele or Beyonce but she's not awful. I was quite surprised. Then she goes and pulls out dross like her XF performance last year. Rihanna has improved drastically as well imo. Just the way she sounds on her records is not as irritating as her earlier material. Ke$ha I reserve judgement, mainly because I dislike the woman and find her quite fake, but I wouldn't call her talentless, she's clearly a very good writer. I don't even think Cheryl Cole is that bad either. Again, not a worldclass vocal talent and even though I'd class her as being a poor vocalist, she's not dreadful. 'Fight For This Love' is one of my favourite pop songs of recent years, yet even that makes me cringe towards the end when she tries to add some 'shouty' vocals to the background. All that said I think it's unfair to mention said artists in the same category as Rebecca Black. I wasn't saying she is the worst sounding person to ever open their mouth and release a record. If anything she needs decent material to disguise her lack of vocal ability. That if anything as others have said works for the artists that are being thrown around.

How can you say Rebecca Black is not that bad? OK the cringe factor is a lot lower in this new track but she still sounds awful. Her straining at certain points in the song made me feel embarassed for her. On a happier note, I am good to see Bjork back even if she will never have a big hit single/album ever again here. P.S Please vote in Buzzjack's Ultimate Female Artist. It closes tomorrow and it's pretty close! http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?s...131273&st=0
  13. Hurts plz. Or Adele. I like some of the other tracks too but those two are my favourites.

I love Will Young and Leona Lewis is OK but 'ECHO' was a dreadful album. How petty to say he is ripping her off  I think this song is fresh and different to anything else around atm - his distinctive voice certainly helps. Don't think it'll go any higher than 21-30 though.

TBF though I do agree with Bray regarding 'Gimme More'. I never understood the fascination with it at the time. I wouldn't single it out as Britney's worst single though. There are a magnitude of contenders for that accolade. POM on the other hand is divine <3

I think I have just fallen in love with Beyonce :o What a truly beautiful and thoughtful video for a kickass song. It has to climb back up now
  25. I hope it gets released here. I've liked it for a few months now :D It's pretty awesome and wets my appetite for new AAR material coming soon *nods*
