DISGUSTING.
They started off OK considering what they are but their material just keeps getting poorer and poorer. Evidently I think it will be #1 unless a song is strong enough to stop it. Personally, I'd rather it never saw the light of day.
May I add that wherever it charts it'll be lucky to spend 10 weeks in the top 75. I can't see it catching on with the 'normal' public regardless of how generic it sounds,

Beth Ditto is acceptable :) Just PM me if you unsure.
And I agree with Jark. TBH I feel the results reflect CURRENT tastes rather than the best female artist EVER. I fully expect Adele, JLO, Nicole Scherzinger, Katy Perry and a few others that have had massive success since last year's to feature quite high this time around to reinforce my point.

So yes, I am back and during my summer that is more Barren than Karen McDonald's reproductive system, it's time to unleash the 2nd Annual Female Artist Smackdown.
Basically for those unfamiliar with this fabulous event, it arose after I became tired of all the constant 'stanning' and whinging about 'Britney being all this', 'Gaga being better than anthrax' etc that dominates this forum.
RULES
1] Post a list of your top female singers in this thread. This year, they don't have to be in any particular order as each artist you name will receive 1 vote. You may vote for up to 30 artists. The artist can be from any genre, country, language or decade as long as they have released ONE full studio album before July 2011. (So you can't vote for Cher Lloyd...).
2] Frontwomen of bands are allowed as long as they have released at least 1 full studio album. By frontwomen I mean bands that have a female as a main singer. Shirley Manson of Garbage, Amy Lee of Evanescence, Hayley Williams of Paramore and Beth Gibbons of Portishead are acceptable.
3] Please don't nominate countless girl group or pop band singers unless they conform to the rules outlined in 1] & 2]. So yes Cheryl Cole or Rachel Stevens would be qualifiable but Frankie Sandford and Sarah Harding are not. This also includes Glee Cast, whose ladies are not acceptable until they release an album of material away from the series.
4) THE TOP 20 FROM LAST YEAR'S COMPETITION, AUTOMATICALLY QUALIFY SO PLEASE DON'T VOTE FOR THEM AS IT WON'T MATTER!
5) There will be no changes to the format from last year as it worked so well. So yes, that means the Bitch Slap shall return.
6) Assuming we get as many votes as we did last year, the top 80 from the nomination process will join last year's final 20 in this year's top 100 voting round. If not then I will cap the amount of nominations that reach the final round to a lower number.
Peace. Love. Joy and all that! And you have until July 10th to get your votes in. -

God 2003 was awful :( The only good things were the rise of Delta Goodrem, Avril and Evanescence :kink: And where are they all now?
+15 Kelly Rowland - Stole
+12 Girls Aloud - No Good Advice [One of their best easily]
+10 Justin Timberlake - Cry Me A River
+08 Dido - White Flag
+06 Sinead Quinn - I Can't Break Down [One of the best albums of the year bless her flop-socks]
+05 Dannii Minogue - I Begin To Wonder
+04 Rachel Stevens - Sweet Dreams My L.A. Ex
+03 Ultrabeat - Pretty Green Eyes [shame on them for raping 'Use Somebody' a while back]
+02 Busted - Year 3000
+01 S Club - Say Goodbye [Naff song but for nostalgic purposes. I loved them muchly]
-02 Beyonce & Sean Paul - Baby Boy [MANY awful songs this year, but I found this to be ear rape and Sean Paul overload bugged the hell out of me. He was like the 2003/2004 version of Pitbull only 1,000 times worse *shudders*]
I also wanted to give points to the BEPs but bleh.

-02 Sugababes - Get Sexy
[struggled between the other five for -02 but 'Get Sexy' was the beginning of the end for my support of the Sugababes tbh. Awful song.
2009 was actually a decent year for music imo. Just wasn't reflected in the bigger hits

I was all ready to finally rejoice at the fact 50 Cent would never trouble our charts again. But then he was on that 'Buzzin' song [which if I didn't hate him before, reminded me why he is one of the most vile singers around] :heehee:
EDIT: For some reason I thought this was the iTunes thread :/

I like 'Smile' by Avril. It's my favourite song from the album and I can see why they'd release it next as it has more traces of her old material. Do I think it will revive the campaign? Nah. I agree with the poster who said 'Push' would be better.
It's this OA/OS thing. It wasn't the right way to handle her comeback.

2007
Quite a lot of my favourite songs from the past decade released that year.
2009
2006
2000
2002
2008
2010
2004
2005
2001
2003
2011
I have not been very keen on this year at all really. Some good songs but it's not over yet. I remember feeling disillusioned after the amazing 2009 and the dull first half of last year, only to have all those massive defining hits be released from the summer onwards.
-
Only ones from recent memory are:
1996/1997/1998: Spice Girls  Everything they released over these three years basically.
2003: Delta Goodrem (Born To Try, Lost Without You, Innocent Eyes)
2005: Kelly Clarkson (Breakaway, Since U Been Gone, Behind These Hazel Eyes, Because Of You)
2010: Katy Perry (If We Ever Meet Again, California Gurls, Teenage Dream, Firework)
