    - ARTIST OF THE WEEK ZOOM IN -

    [sophie Ellis Bextor]

With new album 'Trip The Light Fantastic' due in Spring & amazing 'Catch You' looking set to become one of the year's defining pop hit - posh lass Sophie Ellis Bextor is back. Starting out on Spiller's 'Groovejet' in 2000. Here is a look at the history of SEB on my chart. :D

She has had 2 #1 singles and has seen all the rest of her impressive back catalogue make the top 20. ^_^

    Groovejet [With Spiller] #2 [409,000]

    Take Me Home #3 [246,000]

Murder On The Dancefloor #1 [585,000]

    Get Over You #1 [278,000]

Music Gets The Best Of Me #9 [64,000]

    Mixed Up World #14 [37,000]

    I Won't Change You #4 [55,000]

Catch You #6 [21,000 so far]

  3. But I think it´s more of a recognition for a song to make an album go platinum, or even make an album sell 4 years after its release (like Fallen), then a mere Top 10 placing that will be nothing in a few months. McFly might have loads of # 1 singles but how many people remember their songs, and will their albums still sell 4 years in future?

Yeah I agree with that too. I guess it really is all about album sales nowadays.

I still like to love songs though as at least you can say well that one song is very good whereas an album may sell millions and have 1 good song on it.

  4. I'm not entirely sure tbh.

But the album and single are doing huge things in the US atm - one of the biggest downloads at the minute Sarah Cox said - I dunno I didn't hear all of what she said as I was in the car.

  5. But it's like - when you really love a band or a song you want it to get the recognition it deserves not barely make an impact on the chart and be outsold by $h!t dance and RNB c**p and songs released 4 years ago or something.
  6. To be honest, I don´t care where the single charts as long as the album is selling... This week it climbed more then I expected. I hope it goes Top 40 next week. With the new chart rules singles will be back at the slow building chart run era, and chart positions for rock acts will become more and more meaningless, just like in countries like Germany or Australia, where many acts can do well with a modest Top 40 hit but a big selling album.

I don't actually follow other countries charts but yeh suppose you're right.

I mean Evanescence are a fanbase act really with the singles. Only a dedicated few people will buy the single each time and I've noticed this a lot with bands in their position where on the physicals they would be 10 or so places higher they are pushed down by downloads. 'Call Me When You're Sober' for example would've made #2 in the UK if downloads hadn't been added.

  7.

    #29 The Automatic - Raoul

#26 Jarvis Cocker - Don't Let Him Waste Your Time

#35 The Cooper Temple Clause - Waiting Game

    #15 Evanescence - Lithium

#10 Freemasons - Rain Down Love

    #34 The Game - Let's Ride

#12 JoJo - Too Little Too Late (physical release delayed, so download only)

#22 Nerina Pallot - Learning To Breathe

#04 Amy Winehouse - You Know I'm No Good

    (Others)

    #17 Girls Aloud – I Think We’re Alone Now

#26 Gwen Stefani – Wind It Up

#24 Justin Timberlake ft TI – My Love

    #16 Razorlight – America

    #13 U2 – Windows In The Sky

Bonus #1: Will Leona Lewis - A Moment Like this still be Number 1? Yes

Bonus #2: Will Booty Luv - Boogie 2nite still be in the Top 10? Yes

Bonus #3: Will Beyonce - Irreplaceable still be in the Top20? Yes

  8. I think she's a better version of Lily Allen.

I do like Lily but Charlotte is in a much better position to pass judgement on trash like Cheryl Tweedy and the like. ^_^

I think her show is amazing, her album is breath taking - need I say anymore? :D I think she is one of the most down to earth, talented and beautiful people in the world of celebrity.
