Speeding things up a smidge we have four ladies in a row next and the last batch for tonight. http://www.c14time.com/files/c14/sheryl_crow300.jpg 079 Sheryl Crow + 77 Pts + Stats Votes: 5 Highest Position: 3 Top Ten: 3 Years Active: 1986- Present Sheryl Crow is one of those pop-rock singers that sprung up in the 1990s and had massive success but have since faded into musical obscurity. I was exposed to a lot of her music growing up due to my dad's fetish for anything Alanis-Crow themed. Crow has reportedly sold 35 million albums worldwide and has just released her latest: 100 Miles From Memphis. My personal favourite Sheryl track is Everyday Is A Winding Road. http://rickyday.net/blog/Santogold.jpg 078 Santigold + 82 Pts + Stats Votes: 8 Highest Position: 6 Top Ten: 2 Years Active: 2003- Present Again I have very little knowledge on Santigold except she was forced to drop the 'o' for an 'I'. Vowel swappage is so going to become the new black I feel. With critics comparing her to No Doubt, M.I.A & the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, that's a pretty stunning CV without even listening to any of her material. I'm not particulary impressed tbh but she seems to have a pretty hardcore following on BJ hence her final position. http://malewail.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/faith-hill.jpg 077 Faith Hill + 87 Pts + Stats Votes: 8 Highest Position: 7 Top Ten: 3 Years Active: 1993- Present Country singer who plugged away in the background and pisses all over Taylor Swift. Probably best known internationally for her 2001 single There You'll Be which followed Celine Dion and Aerosmith into the 'over dramatic ballad from a disaster movie hall of fame'. Beautiful track though and Faith Hill has a voice that makes you feel the emotion she is trying to convey through her music. http://girlstalkinsmack.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/ashley_tisdale_artist_300x400.jpg 076 Ashley Tisdale + 89 Pts + Stats Votes: 6 Highest Position: 4 Top Ten: 2 Bitch Slapped: 2 [Gramii & AaronTM] Years Active: 1998- Present Bleh. I actually liked Ashley Tisdale in the Disney series Suite Life Of Zack & Cody and found her likeable and cute but pop-rock chick she isn't. Her vocals are poor and it's just a case of one Disney singer too many. That's why I bitch slapped her anyway. Still a rather surprising result considering her career post High School Musical has pretty non-eventful.

http://www.eightyfeettall.com/touchanamericansky/sia.jpg 082= Sia Furler + 67 Pts + Stats Votes: 5 Highest Position: 8 Top Ten: 2 Years Active: 2001 - Present She's released music as part of Zero 7, a solo artist and even put her pen to the sham that was Christina Aguilera's Bionic. I don't have a lot else to say tbh as her music and her herself are an enigma to me. http://www.arjanwrites.com/arjanwrites/images/2007/07/16/siobhan2.jpg 081 Siobhan Donaghy + 68 Pts + Stats Votes: 4 Highest Position: 2 Top Ten: 3 Years Active: 1998 - Present I will probably be beaten by saying this but out of all six Sugababes [what a joke they are now :(], Siobhan is easily the most talented. The first to bail from the group in 2001, she helped Mutya and Keisha forge their very street sounding, gritty, hard edged pop sound which was watered down more and more with each subsequent release. Dongahy's solo career has been anything but successful but she's ammassed heaps of criticial recognition. Her debut solo record is a bit patchy in places but I can't fault a track on 2007's follow up Ghosts. An underrated talent if there ever was one. And to boot she is actually GORGEOUS. http://blogs.phillynews.com/inquirer/inthemix/kate_nash_large.jpg 080 Kate Nash + 71 Pts + Stats Votes: 4 Highest Position: 1 [Adam] Top Ten: 2 Bitch Slapped: 1 [Dannyboy] Years Active: 2006- Present What can I say about Kate Nash? Well she was fun and all hip for about five minutes with Foundations in 2007, but I've struggled to find anything else appealing about the way she sings or her songs. The public clearly have the same feeling as demonstrated by the performance of her second album My Best Friend Is You. Nash is the lowest scoring female in the countdown to be placed at #1 in somebody's chart and was one of 27 unique females to achieve such an honour.

http://www.virginmedia.com/images/corinne_bailey_rae-gal-richlist08.jpg 085 Corinne Bailey Rae + 57 Pts + Stats Votes: 5 Highest Position: 5 Top Ten: 1 Years Active: 2005 - Present Corinne Bailey Rae bores the pants off me. I actually did buy her self-titled debut album out of curiousity but I failed to connect with it and she sinks with Melua and company for being bland and adding nothing new to the music industry. I hate to be so harsh but other than the fact I sympathise with her for the death of her partner, musically she's average at best. But alas my dear Buzzjackers. Bailey Rae is like the tip of the iceberg the Titanic hit compared to what's to come... I do add that the commentary is my own personal opinion. http://www.gamingunion.net/newsimg/post/lights-interview-gamer.jpg 084 Lights + 59 Pts + Stats Votes: 4 Highest Position: 2 Top Ten: 1 Years Active: 2002 - Present What do you get if you give Owl City's Adam Young a vaginta? Lights of course. She reminds me of Lykke Li as their vocals are distinctly similar but Lights tends to veer towards a more synth-pop orientated sound. Comparisons aside she has some pretty corking tunes on album The Listening. It's just a shame the UK public haven't warmed to her. http://models.femalemodels-hq.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/ashlee-simpson-hair.jpg 082= Ashlee Simpson + 67 Pts + Stats Votes: 5 Highest Position: 2 Top Ten: 1 Years Active: 2001 - Present *Runs for cover*. Yes it's Jessica's little sis. But tbh of the two Ashlee at least has a scrap of talent. The younger Simpson sister made a name for herself with her sugary yet feisty pop-rock sound in 2004 having massive success in the US. TBH I find her music to be alright in small doses but better than Tina Turner, Gabrielle and others? HARDLY. Simpson's minute in the spotlight seems to be over as her mimeastrophe, and breeding with Pete Wentz seems to have done her more harm than good. She also jumped on the Timbaland bandwagon far too late to save 2008's third album Bittersweet World. La La, Shadow & Pieces Of Me are corkers though. Sadly she even sucks at acting being axed from ill fated CW revamp Melrose Place.

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_yiJVcbBwdso/SMOnib29xrI/AAAAAAAAAmw/ku8_0S3U6Xo/s400/sarahMclachlan.jpg 088 Sarah Mclachlan + 53 Pts + Stats Votes: 5 Highest Position: 5 Top Ten: 2 Years Active: 1988 - Present I apologise if some of these comments are a tad robotic as I am not as clued up on a lot of the artists compared to others. Canadian born McLachlan is known for her emotional ballads and mezzo-soprano vocal range! Perhaps best known for her song Angel, I first heard of her when watching my favourite TV show Buffy The Vampire Slayer. The beautiful haunting melody of Full Of Grace plays at the end of the Season 2 finale and just captures all the trauma and loss of the episode so purely, it was the first time I was actually moved by such a sequence on television. McLachlan has recently released her 7th studio album Laws Of Illusion http://images.askmen.com/imagesmusician/2002_mar/sharleen_spiteri/sharleen_spiteri_150.jpg 086= Sharleen Spiteri + 55 Pts + Stats Votes: 6 Highest Position: 5 Top Ten: 2 Years Active: 1988 - Present Before Sharleen Spiteri launched a solo career and resorted to rehasing old movie songs [terribly might I add], her vocals were put to tracks released by hugely successful band Texas. I'm a fan of a lot of the band's earlier material but felt they should've stayed in the 90s as hooking up with Peter Kay is pretty much the lowest of the low [down there with re-releasing a single with an added rapper which they're also guilty of – woops]. Texas like many bands who had MASSIVE success in the 90s wiltered and faded after the release of their greatest hits at the start of the decade yet Spiteri remains an influential female artist. Plus anybody who can throw ice cubes at Paris Hilton and threaten to knock the bitch out gets a plus in my book. http://playedwithfire.files.wordpress.com/2009/09/lykke-li3.jpg 086= Lykke Li + 55 Pts + Stats Votes: 4 Highest Position: 2 Top Ten: 3 Years Active: 2007 - Present Swedish indie singer Lykke Li is a recent addition to the world of female music yet she's already made quite a huge impact with her critically acclaimed album Youth Novels. I was in love with I'm Good, I'm Gone a couple of years back. Her breathy, feminine vocals and ability to stick addictive hooks to her tracks like a stick of butter make the album a must hear record. Think of Bjork, the Eurythmics and Robyn in a blender and it sums up Lykke Li perfectly. She popped up again in 2009 when her track Possibility featured in the movie New Moon.

http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2007/10_01/gabrielleDM0410_468x495.jpg 091 Gabrielle + 50 Pts + Stats Votes: 7 Highest Position: 15 Top Ten: 0 Years Active: 1993 - Present First thing I usually think of when someone mentions Gabrielle is that darn eye patch. She made pirates sexy. Winner of BRITs and MOBOs alike I always find Gabrielle to be extremely overlooked. Her sweet tone and ability to fuse a variety of genres together makes her music easily accessible but she's lacked a consistant arson of massive hits to continue her popularity. She has had a range of UK top 10 hits though with debut single Dreams soaring to #1 and Rise following 7 years later and probably most famously Out Of Reach from the movie Bridget Jones' Diary. Another artist deserving much higher. -_- http://images.mirror.co.uk/upl/m3/jan2008/9/0/5F3293D4-B55B-DB93-52F9702910D07839.jpg 090 Alesha Dixon + 51 Pts + Stats Votes: 8 Highest Position: 14 Top Ten: 0 Years Active: 1999 - Present I expected a FAR higher finish for the former Misteeq lady. Alesha Dixon is one of those all round talented, likeable, fresh, distinctive artists. Starting her career in British RnB band Misteeq in the early 2000s, the band had limited success before Alesha persued a solo career. Dixon is proof of what a reality TV show can do for a flagging career as her triumph on Strictly Come Dancing in 2007, kickstarted her non-existant solo career with The Boy Does Nothing. A song that was so kooky, yet catchy it brought a fresh sound to the charts. Success followed with the parent album and subsequent singles. Sadly I worry for Alesha's future as both To Love Again and comeback single Drummer Boy have been terrible. Still at least she's doing better than the horse that stole her husband. http://www.lilithgallery.com/articles/entertainment/images/Joni-Mitchell.gif 089 Joni Mitchell + 52 Pts + Stats Votes: 4 Highest Position: 4 Top Ten: 2 Years Active: 1965 - Present Seems like the actual 'legends' that made it through are dropping faster than Katie Price's knickers. Many critics see Mitchell as the most important and influential female artist of the 20th century. Bjork, Kate Bush, Alanis Morissette, Annie Lennox and even Madonna have been influenced by her folk style music and creative flaw with Madonna going as far to say: "I was really, really into Joni Mitchell. I knew every word to Court and Spark; I worshiped her when I was in high school. Blue is amazing. I would have to say of all the women I've heard, she had the most profound effect on me from a lyrical point of view.' I need to get me listening to some Joni Mitchell as I actually adore Big Yellow Taxi so if anybody wants to recommend any of her unknown hits for my i-pod let me know :P

http://www.joeydevilla.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/siouxsie_sioux.jpg 094 Siouxsie Sioux + 45 Pts + Stats Votes: 2 Highest Position: 2 Top Ten: 2 Years Active: 1976 - Present This is where my information pool is a little on the naked side so I turn to my good galpal Wikipedia for help. Siouxsie started her career as the lead singer of Siouxsie & The Banshees and is one of those artists that dared to push the limitations of the music scene at the time and whose legacy is conveyed through many modern groups. She may look like she's had a round with the botox now but with a career spanning 30 years in which she's fronted two bands and launched a solo career, Siouxise puts some of the chicks in this countdown to shame. Shirley Manson of Garbage and Robert Smith of The Cure are among many who have declared the band influenced their music and sound and meant something to the industry. http://news.pinkpaper.com/uploads/z23929.jpg 093 Luciana + 47 Pts + Stats Votes: 4 Highest Position: 2 Top Ten: 1 Years Active: 1976 - Present Like many I first heard of Luciana when she appeared as the vocalist on Bodyrox's #2 hit Yeah Yeah back in 2006. She has a very sleazy, yet sexy look about her which is a far cry from most of the female artists dominating the genre today [sorry Ke$ha but you can't pull it off]. Luciana actually made her recording debut in 1994 but flopped miserably and has since resurfaced every now and again on various dance orientated records such as Bigger Than Big and Taio Cruz's Come On Girl. I like how she's a smidge different to most of the other females but I'm a bit undecided on her musical output. http://www.theselector.org/images/BethGibbons.jpg 092 Beth Gibbons + 48 Pts + Stats Votes: 3 Highest Position: 4 Top Ten: 2 Bitch Slapped: 1 Years Active: 1991- Present Mmm Portishead. Gibbons is the lead singer of this Bristol based band and though they've only released three albums, their first two efforts were solid records that contain some of the most elegantly crafted pieces of music ever to grace a piece of plastic. Dummy & Portishead, brought us gems such as Numb, All Mine, Wandering Star, Strangers & more. Whilst their 3rd album in 2008 was a welcome return to the music scene, I found it somewhat disappointing as if the spark had been put out but maybe that's just me being stuck in the 90s.

http://www.imusicdaily.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/ColbieCaillat.jpg 096= Colbie Caillat + 41 Pts + Stats Votes: 4 Highest Position: 10 Top Ten: 1 Years Active: 2007 - Present Colbie [great name btw!] is one of those artists who has a huge international hit everywhere but the UK. Her debut single Bubbly did just that reaching the Billboard top 5 and also topping the ARIA countdown. Two albums down and Colbie has already made a promising start to her career. She has a nice, mellow voice that is far more appealing than the likes of Norah Jones or Dido but imo the music falls into the same trap of being bland as hell much like the aforementioned two females. Colbie is currently gearing up to release her third studio album in the final quarter of 2010. http://blogue.us/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/JPEG_image_Tina_Turner.jpg 096= Tina Turner + 41 Pts + Stats Votes: 6 Highest Position: 9 Top Ten: 1 Years Active: 1958 - Present With an impressive 50 years in the business, Tina Turner has one of the longest careers in the countdown and she may have failed to roll out any hits since the mid 90s but has a distinctive, raw edge to her voice and style and is undoubtedly a true pop icon. She began her career alongside husband Ike Turner and went on to release her debut solo album in 1973. Tina's most well known single is easily [and ironically] The Best but she's also released the sexy Goldeneye [bond Theme] and What's Love Got To Do With It, as well as my personal favourite I Don't Want To Fight. Tina is certainly part of a group of iconic female artists that changed the shape of music for the sex and paved the way for 95% of this countdown to do their thing. Very undeserved placing. http://www.ashdownmusic.com/artists/artist_images/charlotte_hatherley.jpg 095 Charlotte Hatherley + 44 Pts + Stats Votes: 4 Highest Position: 11 Top Ten: 0 Years Active: 1997 - Present Charlotte Hatherley is probably an unknown to a lot of people on BuzzJack. She started off as a member of Ash [joining them as a guitarist in 1997] before leaving the band to concentrate on a solo career which has had small success since 2004. [bast*rdo ftw <3]. Hatherley is one of those daring and inventive artists that plugs away in the background gaining huge critical recognition but failing to set the charts alight in any shape or form. I fully reccommend checking out the album Grey Will Fade if you have a chance.

Only Gooddelta seems to actually give a damn about the Australian songstress whose only UK success was way back in September 2000 with Absolutely Everybody which peaked at #7. In her home country she's landed three top 10 albums and a string of hit singles including recent #1 This Is Who I Am. which is actually fantastic! Such a shame that a lot of Australian artists are screwed over when it comes to releasing internationally. Amorisi is also one of just 4 of the females not to be placed in anybody's top 10. http://celebrityandworld.files.wordpress.com/2009/07/courtney-love1.jpg 099 Courtney Love + 22 Pts + Stats Votes: 2 Highest Position: 5 Top 10: 1 Bitch Slapped: 1 [Alex!] Years Active: 1995 - Present It was VERY hard to actually find a decent picture of this trainwreck of a star. She causes controversy at every turn. Married to ill-fated Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain [<3], my friend Kayleigh has this whole conspiracy theory that she paid someone to bunk off her husband as he was planning to gain custody of their child... Atrocities aside, Love is also well known for being the frontwoman of rock band Hole. A fantastic group with the amazing track Celebrity Skin amongst others who rose to success in the late 90s and recently make a comeback. I demand you check it out. http://www.100xr.com/100_XR/Artists/R/Regina_Spektor/Regina.Spektor-2004.jpg 098 Regina Spektor + 35 Pts + Stats Votes: 2 Highest Position: 5 Top 10: 1 Years Active: 2001 - Present Ms Spektor has released a total of 5 albums since 2001's 11:11. The Russian born singer incoporates folk, alternative and rock to her music but has struggled to gain a lot of chart success. In 2009 album Far was her most successful release to date giving her a #3 hit in America and also making the UK top 30. To be honest I only liked her song Fidelity out of all the clips I listened to on iTunes earlier today. Not really my sort of thing.

Jedward - All The Small Things // Planet Jedward
I pray to God that parents are buying it for their children  Not that that's acceptable either but I find it hard to believe anybody over the age of 16 could commit such a crime against humanity without having something seriously wrong with them...

'Teenage Dream' • Second Album Discussion
All of Katy's singles have been fantastic imo Bray :P Even her two guest appearances. But I agree with you that the second releases tend to be FAR stronger than the first. IKAG and CG whilst brilliant pop tunes are just too gimmicky and are trying to cause controversy or fit a trend. Teenage Dream is my new addiction <3 Everyone goes on and on about Gaga and whilst Katy may not have had as massive success she too has been pretty consistant with an arson of cracking pop tunes. I'm predicting the album will get to #1 everywhere but I'm not sure on sales. OOTB didn't even make the top 10 here and sold 400k I believe.

Alesha Dixon 'Drummer Boy'
What was she smoking when she conceived this? :/ I'm a big fan of a change in direction and this is definately different but not in a good way! It just sounds all over the place.
-
ARIA Charts - 26/07/10
I'd hardly call a #49 smash taking over the world :heehee: Unless it climbs of course. I love that Adam Lambert is doing so well over there. The Australian charts are so much better than any other. If only their sales were higher.
-
JLS - The Club is Alive
I find it very interesting how misinformed people are about JLS. I'm not a fan of them at all but they're hardly as bad as people make out. I can name loads of artists that have far worse musical output than them and some of them would probably have more control over it as well  It just seems that members here always need some males to hate on. McFly, JLS, Westlife. It's silly really.

iTunes Chart: July 2010 (III)
I thought that too. But tbh regardless of quality it'd be interesting to have a song that was hotly hyped for #1 beaten to the pulp. It makes the charts less predictable.
