Her debut solo record is a bit patchy in places but I can't fault a track on 2007's follow up Ghosts. An underrated talent if there ever was one. Well she was fun and all hip for about five minutes with Foundations in 2007, but I've struggled to find anything else appealing about the way she sings or her songs. The public clearly have the same feeling as demonstrated by the performance of her second album My Best Friend Is You. Nash is the lowest scoring female in the countdown to be placed at #1 in somebody's chart and was one of 27 unique females to achieve such an honour.

I was in love with I'm Good, I'm Gone a couple of years back. Her breathy, feminine vocals and ability to stick addictive hooks to her tracks like a stick of butter make the album a must hear record. Think of Bjork, the Eurythmics and Robyn in a blender and it sums up Lykke Li perfectly. She popped up again in 2009 when her track Possibility featured in the movie New Moon.

Her sweet tone and ability to fuse a variety of genres together makes her music easily accessible but she's lacked a consistant arson of massive hits to continue her popularity. She has had a range of UK top 10 hits though with debut single Dreams soaring to #1 and Rise following 7 years later and probably most famously Out Of Reach from the movie Bridget Jones' Diary. Alesha Dixon is one of those all round talented, likeable, fresh, distinctive artists. Starting her career in British RnB band Misteeq in the early 2000s, the band had limited success before Alesha persued a solo career. Dixon is proof of what a reality TV show can do for a flagging career as her triumph on Strictly Come Dancing in 2007, kickstarted her non-existant solo career with The Boy Does Nothing. A song that was so kooky, yet catchy it brought a fresh sound to the charts. Success followed with the parent album and subsequent singles. Sadly I worry for Alesha's future as both To Love Again and comeback single Drummer Boy have been terrible. Dummy & Portishead, brought us gems such as Numb, All Mine, Wandering Star, Strangers & more. Whilst their 3rd album in 2008 was a welcome return to the music scene, I found it somewhat disappointing as if the spark had been put out but maybe that's just me being stuck in the 90s.

She has a nice, mellow voice that is far more appealing than the likes of Norah Jones or Dido but imo the music falls into the same trap of being bland as hell much like the aforementioned two females. All of Katy's singles have been fantastic imo Bray :P Even her two guest appearances. But I agree with you that the second releases tend to be FAR stronger than the first. IKAG and CG whilst brilliant pop tunes are just too gimmicky and are trying to cause controversy or fit a trend. Teenage Dream is my new addiction <3 Everyone goes on and on about Gaga and whilst Katy may not have had as massive success she too has been pretty consistant with an arson of cracking pop tunes. I'm predicting the album will get to #1 everywhere but I'm not sure on sales. OOTB didn't even make the top 10 here and sold 400k I believe.

I find it very interesting how misinformed people are about JLS. I'm not a fan of them at all but they're hardly as bad as people make out. I can name loads of artists that have far worse musical output than them and some of them would probably have more control over it as well :lol: It just seems that members here always need some males to hate on. McFly, JLS, Westlife. It's silly really.

I thought that too. But tbh regardless of quality it'd be interesting to have a song that was hotly hyped for #1 beaten to the pulp. It makes the charts less predictable.
