iTunes Chart: July 2010 (III)
I think it'd be interesting and totally unexpected if The Wanted beat Billionaire :o I'm not fazed as both are average and nice enough songs.

iTunes Chart: July 2010 (III)
So Flo Rida is out this week? I rather like it. It sounds sooo similar to Usher's newie though. I tend to enjoy these radio friendly rap songs with a good hook. It makes the genre more accessible which is why I think it's so huge atm. I rank Airplanes as my favourite song of the year. I'd love to see it in the top 3 with Fireflies and CG.

The Almost Saturday Charts w/k ending 30th July 2010
Lambert's label should've released WYWFM here first and FYE 2nd *sigh* Ah well.

Channel 5 may re-introduce Top of The Pops
Yeah that could harm it somewhat. But Top Of The Pops. The fact it's such a well known brand and people are always going on about how they want it back would give it a solid launching platform possibly? As long as they make it about THE music and keep r*t**** like Fearne and Reggie from presenting it, it could be pretty good. This is all speculation anyway :P

Channel 5 may re-introduce Top of The Pops
Surely it'd have an even better impact? IF it got enough viewers it could really influence the charts.

Katy Perry - Teenage Dream
This is absolutely amazing! Whilst I love CG it has nothing on this. CG is a great song to dance to and enjoy the summer with but its gimmicky and following a trend whilst this whilst similar in places is just wonderful <333 This will peak no lower than #2 for sure ^_^

BuzzJack's Female Artist Slamdown [Voting Round]
Well to be fair we've only had 60 votes so far and round about the same number of nominations which are mostly from the same group of people. It's hardly a reflection of the entire website as a whole. I'm sure if every single active member of the community had participated they'd have been a completly different list. I decided to do this because I was tired of endless threads turning into Alexandra Vs Leona, Britney Vs Gaga or whatever. Naturally the majority of people voting here will be those who revel in those arguments [as influenced by the people who put Britney first and minus Aguilera for example :/ ] I do agree though that there are so many fantastic artists who deserve to be included in such a list or in fact are but are doing worse than the likes of Ashley Tisdale etc  But when you look at the vast amount of members on this site. Most of them are young males who are homosexual or have some female artist worship complex so are obviously going to be more in tune with the music of today and the big stars around right now. You also fail to register it is included in the pop forum. Many fans of Indie or other genres or areas of the site don't even grace this forum. Just a look at the threads on the page of this forum should demonstrate what sort of music the members like. I appreciate the likes of Aretha Franklin, Cher and Diana Ross to name a few. Do I personally think they make better music than P!nk or Bjork? No. But I don't deny that they are defining pillars of the female pop movement. It's not the end of the world if a few teenagers on a music forum don't appreciate them. They'll still be remembered in 20 years from now whereas I can predict 60% of the list here at least will mean nothing to the general public. I'm going to post a link to this in the Lounge. Hopefully, it will lure more people.

Katy has done it again :o Another fantastic song! Yay for Pendulum breaking top 40 :D

Usher 'Versus'
I wonder if EPs will become all the range due to flagging album sales, artists may just stick their big singles and one or two extras and pass it off as an album  I like the new single but I doubt I'll be checking out the album...

iTunes Chart: July 2010 (III)
Eminem and Rihanna already have 200k don't they? :o If the video gives it an extra boost it could well challenge for the best seller of the year.

Pretty Little Liars
I keep meaning to check this out. I'm not huge on Desperate Housewives which this is compared to repeatedly but the whole premise reminds me of this fantastic horror novel I read a while ago. P.S I always loved me some Shannen Doherty on Charmed. She was just so outrageous and the show went really cheesy after she left.

Fringe
http://www.bite.ca/mtBlog/archives/Fringe_logo.jpg Does anybody watch this? I'm just getting towards the end of Season 1 after finally checking it out. It's a lot more accessible than Abrams' Lost, but I'm still having a lot of trouble getting into it. I think it's all the science related stuff  It's a smidge hard to swallow at times but it's like a new version of The X Files which interests me muchly. Walter Bishop is just brilliant though. He never fails to get a laugh out of me. Any other fans?

True Blood | Season 5
Incredible episode this week! Also the woman who plays Debbie Pelt is every inch as annoying as I imagined her in the book series.
-
The O.C
I know this thread is old but I've just been watching the series again and it's as brilliant as ever. Julie Cooper is possibly the most hilarious and outrageous character ever. I also forgot how much I enjoyed the alcohol addiciton storyline. It was so well done.

I quite like the new Usher song. It's far better than OMG and for me is his most accessible single since My Boo.

BuzzJack's Female Artist Slamdown [Voting Round]
Could I ask people not to post spoilers please? It's all very well if you want to add them up or whatever but don't actually post it in the thread even with the tags. Thankoo.

Sales and trends
I bet the #75 sold hardly anything in early 2005. I remember that infamous week Kylie was at #3 on 7500 and Britney at #40 on 500 copies :o

Popjustice Twenty Quid Music Prize
Alexandra, Example or Hurts to win plzz. What a joke of a website/competition :/

Sales and trends
I agree completly. 2007 and 2009 were fantastic years with 2003 also strong. 2004 had some of my favourite songs of the last decade too but a lot of the good stuff underperformed in both sales and the charts [the top 10 sellers of 2004 was the most horrific I have ever seen].
-
Sales and trends
2003 - 2007 were hit so hard because the market was still adapting to downloads/physicals. In 2003 illegal downloads were taking away from the physical CD and when legal downloads were finally allowed to chart they weren't as huge as they were now whilst at the same time physicals were still declining. So there was no middle ground so to speak but 2004 was the worst year and sales gradually improved each year until here we are now with downloads stablized and extremely high and physicals barely existant. That's how I always see it anyway. t.A.T.u and others deserved so much higher :( Hits like What You Waiting For & Boulevard Of Broken Dreams also did really well at the time but barely shifted over 200k :(

The most interesting/weirdest/shocking/etc. chart runs ever
P!nk only needs a #8 to bag the whole top 12.

Want a Bargain?
PS y'all should buy Hook Me Up purely for Revenge Is Sweeter [Than You Ever Were]. Spammage over.

Want a Bargain?
Supermarkets. Though they only stock the mainstream, casual releases to lure the average buyer. At Sainsburys we have all the X Factor related ones and the popular chart acts like Kylie, Enrique etc. Also independent record stores and Power Play. It's this hideously overpriced shop that took over the Zavi in Leicester. I don't know if it's elsewhere...
