  2. Hollywood certainly is rather paranoid of giving roles to gay people...definitely behind the times... but theatre, television and music industries are a lot better in this regard. And anyway your examples don't really work because Ellen DeGeneres is immensely popular and one of the highest paid females in the industry... and Anne Heche... well, she's a bad actress  And anyway she's married to man now, I think... Plus, there is a HUGE difference between assassinating someone's character and ASSASSINATING SOMEONE. Not that I would ever defend or justify either...
  3. A Iranian official has claimed Ahmadinejad meant to say "We don't have as many homosexuals as you do" or something. Anyway the Iranian media claimed the question was asked by evil Zionists who hijacked the meeting, blah blah blah Anyone who pays attention to what happens in Jerusalem during Pride every year knows that it ain't the Muslims rioting, protesting and beating people up... it's the orthodox Jews...
  4. Yeah I've never even heard the original but I imagine it was played on R&B/urban radio. It's actually a fantastic way to reach crossover chart success. Another example from the same year is Deborah Cox's "Nobody's Supposed to be Here." On pop radio, the Hex Hector remix was a huge hit and the original was #1 on R&B radio. The remix: lGWDdRTCl9Q Apparently it flopped in the UK! Surprising...
  5. Yeah I debated since she's clearly not a dance act. But I did want to highlight that remix which is definitely pretty housey. The song got to #3 in the UK... was it off the strength of the remix like in the US?
  6. While we anticipate the long awaited comeback of Whitney (scheduled for any day now...), I wanted to post the Thunderpuss mix of 1999's It's not Right, but it's Okay. I consider it a timeless anthem. 2VFzJLK51cs Any opinions?

Serves Backstreet Boys right for releasing a song straight out of 1998...
  8. Asked about executions of homosexuals in Iran, Mr Ahmadinejad replied: "In Iran we don't have homosexuals like in your country." Reacting to laughter and jeers from the audience he added: "In Iran we don't have this phenomenon, I don't know who you told this." source: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/7010962.stm
  9. The rest of the article is worth a read. I found this particularly interesting: It is hardly the good life. "I am not seeing my children grow up and that is hard," he complains. "But the schools and the hospitals are better in my country than in England and I want the best for my children. "When I visited a hospital in London recently, the doctors had dirty fingernails and the nurse did not know how to treat my infected knee. Although to be frank, the article was of a very poor journalistic standard. The author inserts her own commentary without restraint and phrases like "our generous welfare system" or "crazy system of hand-outs" immediately discredit the source. Professional journalists don't write that and professional papers don't publish it (spare the editorial page).

I am such a closet space-freak. Looove reading about this kind of stuff. Anyway they've already found a Martian rock with fossilized evidence of primitive life, though it is billions of years old.
  11. WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Former National Security Adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski likened U.S. officials' saber rattling about Iran's alleged nuclear ambitions to similar bellicose statements made before the start of the Iraq war. "I think the administration, the president and the vice president particularly, are trying to hype the atmosphere, and that is reminiscent of what preceded the war in Iraq," Brzezinski told CNN's "Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer" on Sunday. In October 2002, five months before Iraqi President Saddam Hussein was toppled for what the United States said was his pursuit of weapons of mass destruction, President Bush said, "Facing clear evidence of peril, we cannot wait for the final proof -- the smoking gun -- that could come in the form of a mushroom cloud." No evidence was found that Iraq was then pursuing such weapons. Earlier this month during a televised speech about Iraq, the president said, "Iran would benefit from the chaos and would be encouraged in its efforts to gain nuclear weapons and dominate the region." However, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said in an interview that aired Sunday on CBS' "60 Minutes" that "insecurity in Iraq is detrimental to our interests." Brzezinski also disapproved of Bush's statement. "When the president flatly asserts they are seeking nuclear weapons, he's overstating the facts," he said. "We are suspicious, we have strong suspicions, but we don't have facts that they are." (read the rest of the article here: http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/09/23/iran.us/index.html ) You'd think after completely f***ing up the war in Iraq, Bush would use a bit more caution in throwing accusations and threatening a war with Iran. But is suppose, what does he have to lose? He has no credibility anyway...
  12. DON'T WATCH THE SEQUEL, it's one of the worst films I've ever seen, just godawful. I'm begging you, don't watch it!!!
  13. I've seen a million violent movies but I still can't keep my eyes open during the chainsaw scene in Scarface... EXTREMELY unsettling to me!!!
  14. Unfortunately I don't think you're going to get any answers beyond speculation. Blair Witch Project challenges the traditional structure of a film in that there is no beginning, middle and end. It leaves much to the imagination, including the sudden conclusion. A lot of people hated the film for this reason but I've always found it terrifying and even satisafying. It's not about sitting down and watching a story, it's about the sensory experience of watching the film. A lot of great filmmakers have used this technique well, like David Lynch and even Kubrick. The only question I can speculate on is your second question. Most people assume that it's the "Blair Witch" causing all of the mahem but I always saw that as sort of a distraction. They are filmmakers documenting an old legend but that's just the excuse for getting lost in the woods. What's torturing them every night doesn't have to have anything to do with the blair witch legend.

Is it one of the new 2007 remixes of Masters at Work - Work t93crk7hznI Sound familiar?
  20. Throwing cash at the problem will not solve anything. Fresh fruit will still be more expensive than McDonalds even if you have a spare £120 in your pocket. You have to educate people, not hand them money. Imagine if the £80 million/year went into a massive public campaign urging women to make healthy choices during pregnancy. Imagine if it went into free resources available at clinics, schools and supermarkets, from printed nutrition guides to better training of nurses and social workers to promote nutrition. Surely this would be more effective.
  21. Trouser Enthusiasts are basically definitive of euphoric trance. So many incredible productions. Some of my favs include: Alabama 3 - Ain't Goin' to Goa (Trouser Enthusiasts Peroxide Evangalist Mix) Anggun - Snow On The Sahara (Trouser Enthusiasts Kangaroo Juice mix) Peach Union - Sorrow Town (Trouser Enthusiasts Teenage Abottoir Mix) Honorable mentions: Paul Van Dyk - We Are Alive Coast 2 Coast - Home Agnelli & Nelson - El Nino Carte Blanche is fantastic as well!

The fact that "Fiddy's" new song is freefalling on iTunes proves that he's not a big seller and not popular. But no doubt radio will overplay it to death and it will go to no. 1 on Billboard.

That is one of the worst music videos I have ever seen in my life. Just awful, AWFUL. I can't even remember a thing about the song... too distracted by that pathetic, derivative, utterly appalling video.
  24. I expected it to be godawful. It was worse than I imagined...
  25. Meja has a great voice and the duet with Ricky Martin (Private Emotion) was excellent, much better than the Christina Aguilera/Ricky Martin duet that was so much more popular. However, I can't stand All Bout the Money... so preachy...
