  1. Come on you guys, it's FOX NEWS. They probably pulled that woman off the street and gave her a script.
  2. Does Army of Darkness count?

Actually it was released to iTunes this week. And it's currently #1 most downloaded! Should give it a massive boost next week.
  4. Well that just goes to show how idiotic it is to have airplay influence the charts. That's like saying in your market, T Pain is incredibly popular and in mine, he's not. In reality it's somewhere in between. The song is selling really well with downloads so I really shouldn't have singled that out. Still, there are a lot of hip-hop/R&B songs that chart higher than they deserve because far more R&B stations are used to determine airplay and thus the charts.
  5. Right, I mean the Hot 100 should be -- well it should be 100% sales -- just the Rhythmic/Top 40 stations or an equal combination of other genres. It is no wonder that random hip/hop songs that no one has heard of chart ridiculously high. (I'm sorry but I listen to radio all the time and I've never heard this ShAwty Buy You a Drink or whatever the fukk that is)
  6. Everytime I drink cheap ass Cutty Sark scotch I'll remember :( That hardly looks like it could be renovated... :(

It's sort of sad when groups who you haven't heard of in years suddenly and dramatically announce they're splitting. There's soemthing to be said for ending it while you're still on top.
  8. Adam Levine called George Bush a "douchebag" in a Blender magazine article back in 2004. I can't believe he'd criticize her for bashing Bush.
  9. The Jonathan Peters remix of To Be Able to Love is one of my all-time favorites. Check it out.

We get it. You hate Kelly Clarkson. Now you can stop reminding us, ok?

If I had any money I would definitely invest in that! There are several spectacular technologies that are on the verge of breaking through. I know a little bit about a battery company that is on the verge of releasing some kind of battery that can hold more than 1,000x any battery that ever existed. Cars could drive for weeks at high speeds on a single charge. It's just the wildly powerful and impossibly rich oil companies that are trying to keep us in an age of fossil fuel dependence.

Back when they first came out... their web site had some positively bizarre video "interviews" where the poor girls, who obviously couldn't speak English, we saying "Yes, we like f*** and touch each other in sex. f***ing and sexing" and all kinds of odd, vulgar things. Clearly scripted by their sleazy manager. I actually loved their first album and as people have said before, they even succeeded in the Smiths cover, which very few artists could ever achieve. My only problem with it was that it was so short, and excluding the remixes and Russian versions, there were only like 6 original songs. Granted I ended up listening to the Russian versions even more. And, they may sound ridiculous, but I liked their message. I know it was two girls who weren't lesbians and it was probably all done in bad taste to attract extra attention and such. But still. There are plenty of angry and unapologetic lesbians in music but none who dared go after the masses. I liked their attitude and I think it actually resonated with gay people, even if they never wanted to admit it.
  13. This probably shouldn't count because it was a somewhat obscure European dance hit by someone who clearly doesn't speak English, but does anyone remember 2002's "Relations" by Erika? It actually went top 10 in some countries I think. Relations, for business or just for fun. Relations, sometimes only for one night. Relations, among the stars in the sky. Relations, sometimes they end; you cry. She loves her dog. He loves cats. They are friends. I love you. And I know, that is true. Don't you see, baby?

Toy-Box... oh wow. One of the cheesiest acts ever. You have to hear their hit "ET" to believe it: 9KEPaUCXtcA The video is like some desperate attempt to give the song depth.
  16. I have typed out a post and promptly deleted it about 5 times as I keep thinking more and more about this issue. :P So I want to just throw out about 10 ideas that come to mind. Sorry if it is scatterbrained  -Vic's point stands in that at least SOME christian faiths allow women to participate on an equal level to men. -Arguing about what mulluhs or the Pope says can be kind of dangerous - it presumes that the billion or so Muslim and Christian laypeople all subscribe to the same beliefs. I've seen informal polls of Catholics that show large support for gay marriage despite the Church's official stance and I'd be damned if more than a tiny minority of Catholics support the no-women-priests stance. I don't even think many priests can justify that anymore. -Similarly, there are likely many Muslims whose actual beliefs differ from the Qu'ran. The question is, are they legally able to express this in their countries? It brings up an issue of CULTURE. Would a strict CATHOLIC country based on Catholic Law be any less oppressive that of the Muslim theocracies in the Middle East? Again, it becomes an issue not of Muslim vs. Christian but of democracy vs. theocracy in my opinion.
  17. Very interesting. The sad fact is that so very many Iranians have left the country and are living immeasurably better lives in their new countries. The communities of ex-pats in Toronto, Los Angeles, Stockholm number in the hundreds of thousands. I've said this before but my boyfriend is Iranian and moved to Sweden, then the US when he was a young child. Watching the news footage of men being HANGED for suspition of homosexuality really hit home. If he were still living there... I just don't even want to think of it.
  18. That 86% figure I don't believe for a SECOND. In a country where you can be arrested for wearing a colorful hijab and HANGED for having gay sex, are you really gonna tell a strange reporter that you don't support the crackdown?! It's like those teen sex polls where 92% of 15 year old males claim to have regular sex. More like 92% SAID they have sex but many don't.

They should keep that freefall ride they had in there and have it drop into a giant vagina or something

Pirates 2 made a BILLION dollars worldwide?! Wow... that puts it #3 worldwide all-time behind Return of the King and Titantic. I had no idea it was that popular. I haven't even seen it :P
  21. Well you might be right, but you'd think those Orlando suits would have SOME cash left over from 40 years of raping consumers to come up with a slightly higher-budget and better-written campaign

The Pussycat Dolls might be the worst band this century. A truly fantastic burlesque group of dancers... the name is stolen and applied to an army of women -- what are there, like, 17 members? -- ONE of whom actually sings their hideous R&B abortions.
  23. Beyond disturbing. It's easy to think... oh, 31 dead, how awful. But the personal stories making rounds in the media now are terrifically upsetting. One girl was one of only 4 in a class of 25 who wasn't shot, students leaning against the door to keep the killer from coming in while bullets ripped through the door in between them, people jumping out of 3rd story windows to escape gunfire. Truly horrific, just beyond words. Of course, the case is utterly bizarre and some of the strangest clues are being revealed. Some yet-to-be-sourced news reports are claiming it was a Chinese man who had only been in the country for 8 months but wasn't a student? Still the confounded police are claiming there is a "person of interest" in the 7:15am dorm shooting (2 killed) who is NOT the man who killed 30 two hours later. I suppose we'll find out eventually but right now the University is facing ENORMOUS pressure. It is clear they made a gigantic mistake by letting students go to class when a killer was on the loose.
  24. Not to take away from the interesting discussion it evoked...but... I don't think this vid was meant to be serious at all, nor do I think it represents any record association or company... it looks like a poor amateur filmmaker was trying to satirize the RIAA and their counterparts. For a much better attempt, see: http://www.theonion.com/content/node/28467 http://www.theonion.com/content/node/43029 http://www.theonion.com/content/node/27696
  25. Please people. The only TRUE Latino diva is Christina Aguilera. She doesn't speak a word of Spanish, but it was such hard work memorizing those Spanish lyrics for the "Mi Reflejo" album. Afterall, she is 1/17th Ecuadorian and I hear her hometown of Wexford, Pennsylvania has a THRIVING Latino community.
