  1. Think of Septmeber 12, 2001. The US had the entire world at its FEET. Foreign ambassadors at the UN were photographed weeping. Huge floral displays were piled at the entrance to every US embassy. The PMs of obscure Pacific Island nations were pledging support. French newspapers were claiming "We're all American today." and NOW, a mere 5 years later, much of the world (including the entire Muslim population) are essentially united in anger and fury at the US. If that isn't the single worse diplomatic failure in US history, I don't know what was. The Iraq war is a HUGE rallying cry, as if previous atrocities hadn't been enough. You know there was a growing pacifist, reformist youth movement in the Muslim world late last century. Their fathers spoke of US atrocities but the youths hadn't known the US to be that way in their lifetime. Well thatr's all gone to hell, now both generations have reason to be angry. The US has doomed itself to an entire generation of people. So ****ing pathetic.
  2. CAREFUL, you might give them ideas! :P Remember the CIA can already arrest, deport, imprison, and fukking TORTURE you totally legally. Public pillory, why not? And rest assured they're no doubt reading this now, taking down names, all in the name of national security, mind you.
  3. One thing Al Gore says is people go straight from denial to despair. Giving up is probably the most dangerous option. 2007 will be the hottest year on record and it's likely the next few years will continue to break records but before we reverse the trends we have to halt them. If each person begins to change his/her lifestyle and encourages others to follow suit, there's hope.
  4. Have you read Blix's book Disarming Iraq? It is MADDENING, he was subject to complete character assassination by politicians in Washington. They claimed he was making up excuses and defending Saddam. THey claimed he was anti-American. Utter BULL$h!t, they gave him FOUR MONTHS and suddenly time was up. Mind you, after the invasion, up until 2005 Bush was still claiming he needed more time to find those WMDs. WHY was the UN only given 100 days then?? Absolutely!! But it's so much easier to think it's EAST vs. WEST, it's THEM vs. US, it's FUNDAMENTAL, it's HATRED, it's EVIL. Blame Bush and Blair for sticking that idea in a bunch of heads. Granted the rhetoric of bin Laden, Saddam, and Ahmadinejad don't help..."praise Allah" and that... but anyone who fails to see terrorism for what it is (a POLITICAL action shrowded in the thin veil of ideology) is an idiot. But what can you do? Didn't the Tube bombers (maybe the ones that failed 2 weeks later?) claim that they did it out of revenge for the UK's participation in the Iraq war? Hasn't bin Laden said a million times that all he wants is for the US to leave the Middle East? But people STILL insist "no, no, no, they did it because they hate us. They're evil." HUH??? The terrorists themselves are telling us WHY they hijack planes and PEOPLE STILL DON'T FUKKING LISTEN. And the worst part is, some of us SAW THE WHOLE FUKKING THING back in 2003. Makes me sick the people that say "Well we were misinformed, don't debate the war because we already invaded." It's not hindsight, I KNEW exactly what would happen these past 4 years BACK IN 2003 BEFORE THE WAR BEGAN! I read Colin Powell's "proof" and it was LAUGHABLE. I heard, astonished, how Bush tried to link Saddam Hussein with 9/11. I watched Bush's disgusting, DISGUSTING 2004 campaign television commercials showing the World Trade Center collapsing, thousands of people dying, all the while showing Bush defending the war in Iraq in the foreground. I saw right through all the bull$h!t, not just me but MILLIONS of people! Call me useless for lingering, for remaining angry about past decisions but I can't help it. I will NEVER forgive the politicians in this country, I will NEVER stop reminding people how stupid they were to support the war in the first place, how that puts BLOOD ON THEIR HANDS. I will never be satisfied until Bush goes to jail for his repugnant actions. He's killed 600,000 Iraqis, he's killed 3,000 Americans, he's severely wounded and forever scarred (physically and mentally) a personal friend of mine (who would have come home in a body bag if not for shear luck and 36 inches). I realize I'm preaching to the choir here but I just can't help it! it makes me SICK.

Post of the year material, really. Absolutely correct and something EVERYONE show know. We CREATED every problem we have now and there's no doubt the people we support now will be "enemies" in the future. What's worse, it doesn't even take a generation anymore - we kiss someone's ass diplomatically and a mere 10 years later we're bombing the **** out of them. It's a wonder the US and UK have any allies left.
  6. I successfully avoided all 3 Star Wars prequels. The unending hype just drove me crazy, every damn summer! I quite enjoy the original trilogy and I've heard nothing good about the new films and so I'm content having never seen them.

I'm going again with a sentimental choice but growing up I absolutely loved the 1962 film King Kong vs. Godzilla. I must not be alone - I just checked imdb and there is currently a bitter, months-long argument over who actually wins in the end. oh god how I hate imdb forums

I have a soft spot for a horrible 1972 film called "Frogs" where a family is killed off by spiders, snakes, lizards, snapping turtles, and of course frogs.
  9. Some surprising choices here, Crouching Tiger and Spiderman 2?? Since the cinema is 10 frickin dollars these days, I rarely walk out. I did walk out of Dreamcatcher. I was about to walk out of Scary Movie 2 but the damn thing ended just then (it's like a 65 minute film). I wanted SO MUCH to walk out of Passion of the Christ but I was afraid idiots in the cinema would later say "One man had to leave, it was just too much for him" or some $h!t when actually I was just infuriated that such a terrible film allegedly "moved" and "inspired" so many brainless people.
  10. I always thought Kelly Clarkson was a mediocre pop singer and riding off undeserved Idol fame. Even her second album seemed dull (first single Breakaway didn't impress me). But then came a little song called Since U Been Gone...
  11. Look at the top 6 - Canadian, Jamaican, Canadian, British, Colombian, British...

Another Chance over Touch Me??? :o Love Roger Sanchez but that's not one of his best, in my opinion

I agree with many of your points, Rob, but I also take the stance of e-motion. I see Christmas as a time to get together with old friends and relatives, an excuse to give gifts, and a time to enjoy tradition. Sure it is a big commercialized event and retailers and big businesses live for it, but it's about the only time of year charities make any money. I know it's all founded on religious bs but it does seem to bring out goodwill and thanksgiving in many people and for that I appreciate it.
  15. You're right but then the film should have been called "Leigon" like Blatty wanted. He had to rewrite major parts of the script to accommodate the studio demands. They wanted a major exorcism scene (not in Legion) and they wanted a character from the original Exorcist to justify their marketing of the film as Exorcist III. So they hired Jason Miller and Blatty wrote in this ridiculous sequence of scenes where two actors play the same person... Anyway you're correct that it's a got more credit than Exorcist II (and it's certainly a better film) but Blatty caved to studio demands and the end result is a film totally unworthy of its name. I haven't seen Dominion yet, actually - the other prequel kind of turned me off altogether :P
  16. The Evil Dead trilogy is quite interesting... the first film was a classic, terrifying, low-budget horror. Evil Dead 2 was more of a remake in that it presupposes the first film never happened. It's not very scary and more of a comedy, what with the possessed hand running around banging pots on Ash's head :D Then Army of Darkness, a continuation of Evil Dead 2... which has virtually nothing in common with the first two films... it's sort of an action/comedy film The Exorcist "trilogy" was long hailed as among the worst - the sequel was absolutely horrendous and the third film had so little to do with the first films that the studio forced the directors to add an exorcism scene to the end - totally useless and bizarre. Anyway if people thought it couldn't get worse, they were wrong because the 2004 Renny Harlin prequel was absolutely insulting and utterly unwatchable TRASH.

Oh you're right! Sorry I missed that. Anyway she is finally releasing the single very soon so many more will discover her in the next few weeks no doubt. The song has just been out there for ages - it reminds me of 3AM (Breathe) by Anna Nalick... more than a year after I'd first heard it, people kept approaching me "introducing" me to it.
  18. Jack your anger is justifiable. I'll just say before anyone else, it is dangerous to say Israel has done nothing, because it certainly has and continues to this day. Its crimes against the Palestinian people (and the Lebanese people more recently) are significant. However I think any reasonable individual would agree Ahmadinejad's solution of wiping out the entire country is at best silly, at worst terrifying. And you're absolutely correct about the Holocaust denial nonsense. Germany was the first nation to speak up and condemn this conference. If only Japan could come to terms with its Chinese atrocities (or likewise Americans with our government's digusting actions) the way Germans have accepted their shameful past...

Regina Spektor is a brilliant new pop artist. Russian born and New York based, she's released several independent albums before and even a flop single in the UK, but her new single "Fidelity" has become a huge hit video on YouTube and looks to be a sizable pop hit this spring. oh, and I LOVE it! :D 4NBArHgZntE
  20. TEHRAN, Iran (Reuters) -- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Tuesday told delegates at an international conference questioning the Holocaust that Israel's days were numbered. Ahmadinejad, who has sparked international outcry by referring to the killing of six million Jews in World War II as a "myth" and calling for Israel to be "wiped off the map," launched another verbal attack on the Jewish state. "Thanks to people's wishes and God's will, the trend for the existence of the Zionist regime is downwards and this is what God has promised and what all nations want," he said. "Just as the Soviet Union was wiped out and today does not exist, so will the Zionist regime soon be wiped out," he added. His words received warm applause from delegates at the Holocaust conference, who included ultra-Orthodox anti-Israel Jews and European and American writers who argue the Holocaust was either fabricated or exaggerated. His remarks were condemned in Washington, where U.S. State Department spokesman Sean McCormack told reporters that the Iranian president's behavior was "despicable" and called his comment "absolutely outrageous." The Vatican, Germany and the European Commission added their voices Tuesday to others -- such as the United States and Israel -- who have condemned the Tehran meeting. Iran says it organized the conference to shed light on the reasons behind the formation of the state of Israel after World War Two and to allow researchers from countries where it is a crime to question the Holocaust to speak freely. "Iran is your home and is the home of all freedom seekers of the world," Ahmadinejad said. "Here you can express your views and exchange opinions in a friendly, brotherly and free atmosphere." He urged countries where Holocaust denial is a crime to respect freedom of speech and not to take action against any of the conference participants on their return. Human rights groups frequently number Iran as one of the world's worst violators of free speech, where scores of newspapers have been closed, journalists jailed, access to Web sites blocked and government critics hounded out of the country. Source: http://today.reuters.com/news/articlenews....-C5-worldNews-2 I made bold my favorite quote from the article. It's absolutely insane because the fukker was elected in a fake election and continued to misrepresent what has always been a peaceful, gracious Persian people. And because his government has closed down media outlets, arrested hundreds, censored the population in every way imagineable, and held public hangings of accused homosexuals. How dare he associate in any way his oppressive, disgusting government and the word "freedom."

I know Batman & Robin will likely be voted worst by a huge margin (and it was indeed godawful - why do they still let Joel Schumacher destroy films?) However I voted for Batman Returns, I just couldn't stand that film.
  23. And the "memorial service" gets worse and worse with each additional artist scheduled to perform at the concert. It will no doubt include Mariah Carey crooning her brand new single to squealing teens. And what of Diana?
  24. This isn’t really a dialect issue and more of an accent issue, but I get so confused when people pronounce “th” like “f.” In Brighton once, I took a quick taxi trip and at the end the driver said “free.” I was like “wow!!! Are you sure??” And he looked at me strangely and said “yes, free.” I said “THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!” hopped out of the car and skipped away like a moron. Of course he had been saying “three” as in £3. Needless to say, he chased me down screaming and swearing.
  25. Any character Adam Sandler EVER, EVER, EVER played.
