Hmm, might do this as a daily feature, didn't think I'd get so many people voting, people's thoughts??
  12. Back in the old days (I sound so old!) But I really mean before 1990 (ish) More songs climbed the charts, if you remember before downloads were included in the chart, for about 15 years it was unusual if more than 3 songs climbed, and a song climbing to number 1 was almost unheard of! This is because there was less promotion of songs before their release, the way I see it - Debut the song on radio/TV, release it anytime between straight after to no later than the following day on downloads, the following Monday release it on physical format. It would make the chart more interesting, and see acts actually have to EARN their spots in the chart, would also increase sales figures, the endless promotion was another reason for sales decline.

Would be amusing if Simon hired Jedward to present it, not saying I'd like it, and I don't see it happening, but it would be ironic. I think one main presenter and one guest presenter every week to keep it fresh, or a well known duo so there is chemistry, but I can only think of 2 well known suitable duo's, Ant & Dec, who did CD:UK and have done SO many things already or Dick & Dom (or is it Don) who I don't think would be good because I can't STAND them! But that's just my personal opinion. I know it's a cliche considering she was on X Factor, but I think Stacy Solomon would make a good main presenter, with a different guest every week.

17 vs 17, and still another 2 days to go! Glad this topic has been a success

They would, yes, but would acts, even if it was just a video, like Radiohead or Shakespears Sister who recently re-entered the top 40 get a spot? Or maybe Bon Jovi with their album entering the top 3 and livin' on a prayer re-entering the top 75. Not to mention The Beatles (obviously a video would be shown) but with about 7 songs all in the top 75, 2 of which were in the top 40, plus 2 albums in the album chart, would they get a spot? I doubt it!

I see your point, but maybe they could do that on a spin-off show, now there's BBC3 and ITV2 or E4, a sort of chat to the artists show. I really liked the fact that TOTP was all about the performances and a chart run-down with no interruptions. It's like X-Factor VT's and the chats, 4 contestants left, 8 songs - you can play 8 songs in half an hour or so. If you include the judges comments and a couple of ad-breaks you could have the show over in 50 mins, why 2 hours for it??

I remember this from a while back so I thought I'd see how people felt about a return I have chosen 2 songs that are popular and present, either in the chart or talked about future releases, just vote for your favourite, after 3 days the song with the most votes will face a new song that I choose, again either a song from the top end of the chart or a future release. To start us off it's Rihanna's 'Only Girl (In The World)' vs. Ellie Goulding's 'Your Song' So, get voting everyone, let's see who our first winner is!

I'd rather not see interviews, I'm not interested on rumours and what they had for breakfast and who they're dating! It's all about the music!!

As much as I LOVED TOTP and shows like CD:UK, if Simon Cowell is behind it I can't see me liking it, full of former contestants from X-Factor, American Idol and any other reality show he's been part of, you can forget bands that made it on their own! Only exceptions might be acts from his record label (majority are from reality shows anyway)

I subscribed a few years ago for 1 year, then stopped as I had other things I had to be doing and didn't have much time to follow music let alone read CP, however I have just subscribed for 4 weeks as a trial, not sure with this new price coming up if I'll continue as I am also saving up for my wedding, however we will see as I really enjoy seeing the other charts and no.s 101-200, amazing some of the songs that are hovering under the top 100! Will be a tough decision to make :(
