The December 1982 one recently was the "official" BMRB one, but the 1981 and 1979 ones aren't. Are these perhaps "hybrid" charts over a two-week period (as he only gives a vague "early Feb" or "mid Feb" date, or are they from another compiler than BMRB?

Breaking the embargo is not allowed, but nobody really does anytihng about it - especially as there are so few physical singles around and so few outlets these days. It will be interesting to see if it turns up in the chart at the weekend as a result.

Funny how Jacko with the singles from each album either made a HUGE blockbusting video or didn't bother at all. "The Girl Is Mine," "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'" and "PYT" weren't supported with videos and their chart positions and legacy suffered as a result.

Yeah, looks like it will be "Everybody Hurts". From Digitalspy: Cowell fundraiser single to be REM cover? Simon Cowell's charity single for victims of the Haiti earthquake will reportedly be a cover version of REM's 'Everybody Hurts'. The reality TV judge announced his plans for the benefit record at the National Television Awards last night. Cowell has recruited singers Michael Bublé and Leona Lewis for the song, as well as fellow X Factor judge Cheryl Cole, says Sky News. Other stars rumoured to be attached to the project include Beyoncé, Robbie Williams, Lady GaGa, Susan Boyle and Wyclef Jean. Cowell is organising the effort after receiving a request from Prime Minister Gordon Brown. "The agony and anguish for the people that we are seeing on our television screens is something that British people want to respond to," Brown said earlier today.
