Next Week`s Chart - The Preview for Sunday 28th
Dave, you have a couple of typos in there with Take That's album title and Snow Patrol's single title. Looks like the "Best Of The Year" lists are taking an early effect with Duffy and MGMT's climbs. "Mercy" will also be due to its airing on Strictly. I think all three MGMT singles could reach new peaks over the next two weeks...

Kinda the only thing that rhymes with "last show" though?

Almost Saturday Charts w/k ending 26th Dec 2008
"Flashback time, and a exciting one this week in 1980...That brought us the Chapman shooting of John Lennon, with the BBC paying tribute on Monday 8th Dec 1980 with a showing of one of the films." Is this definitely correct? I'm sure the news didn't break over here until the morning of 9th December?

Next Week`s Chart - The Preview for Sunday 7th
"Along with the likes of Zavvi, WhSmiths, Tesco, Asda, and Sainsbury...minus Woolworths (who were not taking part today), let`s have a look." Woolworths don't have any new releases due to their going into administration. Our branch is a mess: they've just filled the chart walls with loads of old sale stock where the new stuff would have gone :(

Next Week`s Chart - The Preview for Sunday 30th
I love 1981 - my fave ever year. Good to see Mr David Van Day's Dollar in there at #25 :D Re the Woolworths positions for Killers and GNR (#18 and #19 respectively) I think it may something to do with the problems between the record companies and the EUK wholesalers? I know record companies effectively "buy" their shelf space and chart positions for new releases: I suspect there's little or no communication here at the moment due to these issues? Just my take anyway. Cheers for the chart Dave!

HMV have it down as a new release for 17th November. Has it been quietly deleted for a while possibly? The tracklisting is identical... It's back to full price as well, after being heavily discounted over the last 12 months.

The Virgin Book of British Hit singles
You're right, Peter. The new book lists the record label and catalogue number, except in the case of a download-only track - where it states "Download." e.g. Sugababes "Denial" - download ...which of course it wasn't! If the track has a peak position of #40 or above it will have its Top 40 weeks listed against it. If it doesn't go Top 40 it has no weeks listed whatsoever. If a track re-enters under the same catalogue its initial entry is all that is listed, even if a track may repeak on a subsequent occasion. Re-issues, re-mixes and imports are listed separately. Descriptions of acts are limited: e.g. Girls Aloud - UK group and no weeks in chart totals are listed for the acts in this book either.

The Virgin Book of British Hit singles
Correct me if I'm wrong but Sugababes' "Denial" wasn't download only was it? The book says it was. If wrong, there's your first error! EDIT: What's the cut-off date for the book? *confused*
