  5. Quote:- The History of the Big Bands sees the incomparable Darius transport the audience on a magical musical journey revisiting some of Swing’s very best songs. All the famous tunes from the world’s greatest big band leaders are here, music from Harry James, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Woody Herman & Buddy Rich. The History of the Big Bands features a magnificent 16-piece big band and a series of first-class soloists who cover the famous solos as played by the original bandleaders. The audience is led on a musical ride from one band leader to another by the talented, charismatic and hugely successful Darius.

  9. I looked at Wimbledon, Woking, Bromley and Glasgow and those too show few seats sold. But we must remember that we have prior knowledge of this show. It hasn't yet had much publicity, and the theatres' Autumn programmes have not yet been sent out. I am still not clear as to whether D is co-producing only, or whether he is actually performing.

Brian Hill took up the post of Director of Barisons Management in December 2000. Since his time at Barisons he has organised and taken part in 1000 s of performances around the world, including Japan, Singapore, Poland, Prague, Holland, France, Belgium, Italy and the UK. As a trumpeter Brian has played for many orchestras and theatre shows as well as performing with great bands specialising in the swing era, such as the Glenn Miller Orchestra, The New Squadronaires and the Memphis Bell Orchestra. He was the trumpeter for The Moscow State Circus and Billy Smarts Circus as well as working the Cruise Liners. As an arranger he has worked for many bands and production companies and his arrangements include many different styles, from Classical to Swing. He has written many shows including: ‘Sinatra’, ‘The History of the Big Bands’, ‘Deana Martin and the Rat Pack' starring the daughter of the Legendary Dean Martin, ELVIS – The Ultimate Performance’ and ‘ELVIS at the MOVIES’. All Brian’s shows are owned by Barisons Productions Ltd. (Sorry, can't carry Sue's quote over to the Big Bands thread.) Is D mainly the co-producer, or the presenter/soloist.....or both?

  18. Quote:- The use of Sinatra's vocal charts leads the audience on a musical journey from one band leader to another. Frank Sinatra began his career with Harry James’ outfit before moving onto Tommy Dorsey's band. Later on in his career, Sinatra recorded with Duke Ellington, and performed and recorded with Count Basie in the Sands, Las Vegas and with Woody Herman at the Madison Square Garden's. I hope D isn't going to impersonate Sinatra. I'd sooner have his own interpretation of the songs.

I could think only of Quanta la Gusta but I don't think that was from the swing era.

I only looked at the D photos, and thought what a poor coverage of his performance, all playing his guitar, all facing the same way. Where are the ones showing him singing minus guitar? Typical pro approach.....shoot off half a dozen shots and call that it.
