  1. quote baytree - would like to think Darius would build some choreographed performances into his concerts. By that I mean something like the original Non Piu Andrai not a stage full of gyrating bodies and flashing lights and/or pyrotechnics. Thats exactly what i would like, mix it up a bit.
  2. To be quite honest I will find it hard to come to terms with him just sitting still to sing especially if it was song after song as have enjoyed him performing so much. Agree the baritone does it for me, its such a great tone.

Snippet from the Scottish SUn who are sponsoring and opera La Boheme a Glasgow cathedral.Miss Scotland And Kat, 22, beamed: "I'm so excited about the opera because it's my first time and to be involved has been great." The stunner, from Dunblane, Perthshire, has become an opera fan after watching Scots crooner Darius Campbell win ITV show Popstar To Operastar. She said: "It's got me in the mood for a night at the opera. Sing-sational ... Kat and Julian recreate Scottish Opera's poster"Darius was excellent and I was so pleased to see him win as I'm good friends with his brother Aria." " SNP MSP Fiona, 45, added: "I am so pleased The Scottish Sun is giving people the chance to see opera. It can be an amazing experience. ""
  4. I definitely missed the opera voice and the performing.
  5. Thanks meg, lovely pictures.
  6. Unfortunately I totally agree with what B.P says. I think the first performance after the show could have been either something from the show or something the audience could acquaint with (thats not the word I am looking for) but I also felt the song did not show off his voice bearing in mind some of the tele audiences may not have seen PSTOS.
  7. I am hoping he is going to sing, the advert said will be performing.
  8. With thanks to Sooz and Baytree.

Regarding the new album, I would also like the deeper voice , it probably mean that he is now having to change about because perhaps he realises this if as he says this show and opera has made him have a change of feeling about the album and whats on it. Everyone I have spoken to loves his voice as it was on this show.
  13. There is a thread taken on DS about the Sun saying it will get the chop and they are jumping on the bandwagon as if it were gospel and making derogatory comments about it. It may be that Rolando is not available again and it might be difficult to get someone suitable to replace him.. 4.6million is not to be sniffed at especially when it was up against Eastenders etc. There are other shows that are doing worse. It will be interesting to see what andrew lloyd webbers tv show to find dorothy for the wizard of oz does.

The bit about masterchef viewers is what made me n ot understand why popstar to operastar would go, also BB had less at least some weeks. I think the Sun are just trying to cause controversy. However as I said BBC would do a good job. They may have a job with Rolando not appearing again if he has other things on the go.

Thanks Feral cat. Interesting reading. They could have used a recent picture of him and jacqui rather than one about six years old but trust the sun.The sun say the show has been axed but they dont know Itv havent announced anything.Anyway BBC would make a good job of it although this is the first time I felt ITV had made a good job of the programme apart from meatloaf and alan titchmarsh. Would like to see aled jones present with mylene.

What a load of tosh. Heres another lot - Daily star - I only bought it because it was 20p - Mike ward o n telly - Darius's reality check in - Well done Darius Campbell. Hes finally won a reality show - his victory in fridays popstar to operastar at last making up for the letdowns hes suffered in popstar and popidol. And thank god I wasnt sure how much more of this guys pain I could take. In fact I had been feeling so sorry for him I was about to offer ITV1 an idea for a brand new contest, designed to tip the odds ridiculously in his favour. The title Popstar to Darius - searching for a singer who most conmvincingly looked, sounded, acted, breathed and if need be broke wind like Darius himself. Course he would have probably still come fifth. mike@mikeward.tv
  19. Thanks PIP I also saw that on a certain site, it never changes does it. I hope he will get invited to do various things, b ut he must strike now not disappear again. hopefully his management wont let him.I see Rolando is singing at the albert hall in may.
  20. The final of PSTOS was mentioned this morning on Lorraine by Richard Arnold the entertainments correspondent. He said it was the final o n Friday between Darius ande Bernie and Lorraine then said Bernie was brilliant. Richard said it was a very emotional evening for Darius because he had appeared in that studio before for popstars and pop idol.Lorraine then said it was good that Darius had won he is such a lovely guy.
  21. quote Give the people what they want - stick out a download single of e.g. Non Piu Andrai and Nessun Dorma and then get to work on the new/ reworked album. I would love that but also would love a dvd with it on.
  22. Quote PIP - i want that album, he said already it wasnt pop...he ca add some classical crossover, he can do some opera but I want that album, you have to seize the moment or he can do les miserables, or phantom..pirates of penzance, Gillbert and sullivan Ditto what PIP says and must add the following - I saw my next door neighbour this morning who has never liked D because she is not a fan of pop and she always brushed him aside - what a difference this morning I couldnt get away she was full of him on PSTOS she thought he was wonderful, brilliant, versatile, wonderful voice, hadnt realised he could sing like that and is he doing any shows musicals etc she would be v ery interested but would like classical crossover/musicals for his album. She doesnt think hes cheesy just has manners which she likes etc.anyway her parting shot was he is wonderful.
  23. I think to some extent his new management can take some credit, they appear so far to be doing a good job. We have seen him on tv very frequently after the drought of the past few years. There was an older man sitting with Jacqui and I did wonder if he was from the new management.
  24. Someone has posted that in the last quartet Darius' microphone was turned down and funnily en ough I thought he didnt sound as loud as the others especially compared to his other arias.
  25. Im watching it all again on itv now.Take it all in better second time.
