  1. Jealousy me thinks, I never liked her in popstars. Rolando is about to come on shortly on BB1 breakfast to talk about the programme.
  2. I am relly fed up there is a nasty interview with Kym marsh scottish news of the sun where she has a go at Darius. Too long to post.
  3. Preston posted a post in a topic in Pop and Country
I can't even go on the itv site without seeing red. A whole week of video displays, Danny on 3 of them, Vanessa on two and only a week one for Darius. Not many people will find jis week 2 Toreador I think that justifies Baytrees comments in what she has said. I do worry that he is being set up.
  4. Granada is a song that has been done to death in the far past and like summertime is not thought of by a lot of people as opera, summertime being of the same ilk. However Im sure he will do a good job.but why that choice for hi unless......
  5. I agree he will do a good job its just that granada is a bit like summertime to me which vanessa did when she left if you know what I mean.
  6. From the Sun -MYLEENE Klass has savaged snobby music critics who have slated her new show Popstar to Operastar, saying: "I will take them all on!" The presenter, 31, said she was furious with "ageing" pundits who have slammed the ITV1 show as "ghastly vulgar trash". The series features pop singers such as Kym Marsh and Jimmy Osmond attempting to learn opera. And former Royal Academy of Music student Myleene said of the snipers: "Criticising the show makes them feel a little bit important. "But this archaic and prehistoric attitude is so boring. "It just shows how out of touch they are. "It is such an obvious and easy route to take and I think a lot of it is to do with their age." Myleene - who fronts the ITV1 Friday night series with Alan Titchmarsh, 60 - also claimed that snooty critics NEED the popularity of crossover stars like Britain's Got Talent winner Paul Potts. She fumed to TV Biz: "Who do they think subsidises their baroque CDs, or is the reason they can continue to listen to renaissance albums? "It is because popular artists subsidise them." The beauty - whose grandmother was an opera singer - also laid into the moaners for claiming that the arias sung on the show are too easy. She insisted: "It is all very well them saying why don't they sing Wagner but everyone has to start somewhere." Myleene added: "If they are trying to protect a genre of music and keep it for a certain type of person, it just shows how antiquated their thinking is. "It's easy for them to say this stuff from the comfort of their study but they should get up and have a go too. I'm willing to take on everybody!" The former Hear'Say singer went on: "If the critics thought about it they would see it's wonderful. They are finally getting a different genre of music on TV. "These are pop stars who are trying to embrace a different way of singing. Someone on ds who is a singer has said Darius please dont sing Granada.
  7. Was that the Great Gatsby.
  8. Thank you munchkin. Glad to see Rolando has replied in the right vein. One does wonder what all the fuss is about surely they are not scared of competition.
  9. I hope so. IT would have more effect.
  10. Thanks Meg. The second one was outstanding I felt. The third one, well I know I shouldnt say this but it made me laugh, especially when the girls came on and then he had to sit down. Some of the higher notes are quite long and then there is along note at the end but depends what bit they let him do, I hope they keep in the best and main part. However, I do feel it is too well known o/s of the opera sphere perhaps and its a second spanish one on the trot.
  11. Quite often the one who is in the bottom two like Jimmy get a lot of teaching so they improve and not be in the bottom two the next week, and when you say he says therewill not be a poppy sound that looks like what is happening. Also there is often a shock one in the bottom two or at least thats how it has it has happened in other shows. I hope this isnt going to happen.
  12. I would think so.
  13. No I dont Baytree, glad you found it but it just got up my nose.
  14. There is a thread on a theatre site (not WOS) with a particularly nasty bit about D. What a supercilious but know nothing lot they are on that site. Doesnt give out good vibes for the promoting the theatre in general at least not to me.wonder what other site they may belong to.
  15. I dont think that is alan yentob.!We must solve this mystery.!!
  16. Does the Sun read here - from todays -WE never would have had Dame Judi Dench pegged as a reality TV fan. But the acting legend was seen in the audience for last night's recording of ITV1's Popstar to Operastar. The Oscar-winner was beaming, as stars including Kym Marsh, Bernie Nolan and Jimmy Osmond belted out some classic operatic arias. Presenters ... Alan Titchmarsh and Myleene Klass The Saturday's Vanessa White was booted off, after landing in the bottom two for the second week running. What's next, Dame Jude, Dancing On Ice? Waving a banner at a CBB evictiNeedless to say D doesnrt get a mention yet again.
  17. my mistake probably for suggesting it was GV. However I definitely have seen him before but its not with judi dench on the red carpet. They flashed to judi and him during Ds performance but its not to say that they were supporting him, but the man in particular was very excited and clapped D like mad so I think they were.
  18. I love gilbert and sullivan but a lot of the main roles are tenors i.e song a wandering minstral but I enjoy him singing along the lines of from a distance etc and perhaps along the lines of Matt monroe.
  19. The critics are at it again, the sun day express and telegraph are criticising the show after one week, they dont give it a chance, what is it with these people that they have a job , I would be quite happy if they didnt. An amateur could make a better job of it. The difference from the week they reviewed to this last week was enormous.
  20. I really worry for D if he is bottom 2.
  21. I knew the more casual dress would have an effect. The three musketeers, yes anything to see him in costume.
  22. I did wonder if Blake were looking on him as a new member, they are all very good looking!!
  23. I just think its odd that catherine jenkins has said her bit about the other contestants but notspoken about D. As she has been kind to the other contestants except the one who went out it would be nice to hear some nice comments for D. By the way both she and rolando have an album coming out shortly and so does meatloaf, surprised he isnt showcasing his on the show as well as them. I actually felt sorry for D last night because it made me think what a lot of putting down that he has had to suffer over many years from the public and the press which he doesnt deserve..and it doesnt go away.
  24. Thanks so much baytree. Popstar to operastar was repeated again this morning on ITV1. so he is getting some coverage.
  25. Did you see Judi dench shown sitting with a bald headed man. He seemed familiar. was it Gareth valentine the musical director when he sang at the Big sing albert hall.
