Do we mean by "they" his management because I just had a look at their site and Darius's name seems to be further down the pecking order again and some of the others further up I have never heard of.

How that report gets up my nose when they use the word weirdly when you think of the princes trust concert he did which raised 42,000 for the trust and the tour history of the big band which gave all to help for heros. How those 3 am girls have a job is beyond me.

I agree with what you both say perhaps the fact that he bid 6000 made them feel they had to put him down. He was called popstar to opera star winner before now its suddenly turned back. and the Daily record are no better in this respect as they havent mentioned he had just finished a successful tour which the proceeds went to help for heroes.

Snippet from the daily mail - its back to popstars and pop idol now- Earlier, her Girls Aloud bandmate Sarah Harding - sporting new longer 1940s style waves - was spotted having a close chat with former Popstars and Pop Idol contestant Darius Campbell. at the Pride Of Britain Awards aftershow at the Grosvenor House Hotel's Red Room bar It's the first public engagement Darius, 30, had attended since breaking his neck earlier this year in a car smash. He's thought to have popped the question to on-off girlfriend Natasha Henstridge just before the smash, which happened in Spain in July. There is a picture of him with Sarah harfding but it is hazy.

I certainly could sit through seeing Cheryl Cole hit by a custard pie!!!!

I also loved Make it easy on yourself previously recorded I think by the walker bros. which he sang at the end of pop idol.

I loved the covent garden songs he sang including especially the opera one that won him the final Really loved that as it showed off his range and what he is really capable of. Wonder if he will do Covent garden again.

I liked From a distance which he sang at the royal albert hall. I think it was for songs of praise.

The Barrows had a distinctive smell when I was there if I remember, bit like soup cooking all the time.

I loved Glasgow, spent several years there on and off during my daughters ops, often two weeks at a time. Much preferred it to Edinburgh. Stayed always at Bearsden and used to visit the auction houses i n Glasgow and come back laiden up with stuff, once I drove from here up to there on my own with my daughter in one trip. The exhaust pipe fell of at Carlisle.I imagine it has changed a lot however since it was City of culture. It now seems such a long trip to do.

wonderful pictures Meg, thanks. So glad he sang Hey jude so well.
  17. Preston posted a post in a topic in Pop and Country
Id rather he had sung Yesterday, Hey jude is well down the list for me as a a song, not a song that would stretch a good singer and not a good choice to give him.
  18. I thought the blonde was his burlesque dancer!!

Perhaps this has been posted but Darius has said on his facebook he is singing Hey Jude at the beatles concert at the royal albert hall.
  20. It sounds fishy.

I say that because If you go away for instance did showcase some of his range without being operatic if you know what I mean.

I do see what you both are saying but to me that era of frank sinatra apart from being covered so much does not stretch or show off his range.

I feel he should go down more the matt monro type of song road rather than the pop song style ala ricky martin etc mainly because he himself is older and because they do show off his great voice. Also MM has lasted and is still played regularly on radio so he must have been doing something right. Like meg I am not keen on the big band sound simply because most of it is too well known and done to death with the rat pack and other acts etc etc but does D realise this as its obviously new to him.

I would love the cover on his album of If you go away from the matt monro concert where he also sang in spanish because it showed his range, his emotion and his ability, was beautifully sung and has not been done to death like fly me to the moon. Although the badda boom etc maybe catchy it reminds me of ricky martin and does not show off his voice.
