Bits and Pieces 3
Its a bit of a sad situation because what one label doesnt go for another label could and make a hit. Alesha dixon, lemar, amy winehouse etc etc all did well after having a contract previously.I loved Daniel s If your not the one and he obviously is very capable.

So how do they get out of that situation. I believe Daniel was with Universal but I could be wrong.I believe Amy wsinehouse was with mercury but isnt now.

Picked up this from another site although not directly D related but could have some bearing. The poster is very knowledgable re music business. It crops up during a discussion that Leon jackson who won the xfactor the year before last has been dropped quickly by his label and before his tour goes out. quote - Now here's the rub, take Daniel Bedingfield, wrote one of the most played songs this decade 'If you're not the one', he's now written and submitted two complete albums to his label, both were turned down. It's danmmed hard to get work recorded, and artists are submitting stuff everday, that will never ever, be used, Leon and Starsailor guy are going to have to pull something special out of the bag to break that mould. D does not appear to be in the same boat label wise but even for 19 a long time has passed but not it appears for some of their artistes.

It still goes down to the wire on whose shoulders lies the length of it, the expense of it, the lack of promotion etc etc. Perhaps a more simpler approach would have paid dividends. However the theatre itself didnt help, it doesnt appear popular with theatregoers and isnt well positioned in that it doesnt appear to get the passing trade that the others do. Apparently the show Warhorse now at the New london is getting good feedback beforehand and after.

Interchange thread - mark 5
I have just re-watched Out of Africa with meryl streep and robert redford. What wonderful music it had, what a great composer John Barry is. I know he won the oscar for the music, in fact I think the film won a large number of oscars including best photography also wonderful. Would love to see D do some film music.

Good as Jill was i n the part, I think a stronger name be it american or english would have given a better balance promotion wise i.e. Although I am an avid theatregoer I had not heard of her apart from reading she was in the woman in white (also closed early) and presumably she didnt have a large following over here. although a lot of shows dont have "Names" I think in this case it would have been an advantage for such a standout part b ut in spite of that the dye was cast beforehand.

Thank goodness for that Bramley. Regarding Ds personal profiole in the media etc perhaps he doesnt employ an agent but he needs to do something to keep himself in the public eye. Really I think some of us could do a better job generally. Today I met a lady who bought a book from me by Ben elton on the x factor story etc etc so I asked her if she watched pop idol and she did and loved D. She was all prepared to go to see GWTW (Saw the pictures of D in the role and thought he looked gorgeous)but before she had a chance to go it was cancelled and she was upset. She couldnt understand why it was cancelled so I gave her the lowdown and she was v ery surprised. I really think the damage was done BEFOREHAND with constant running down of its length and the fact that the writer was outside of the industry they had made up their minds.

Talking about keeping in the public eye there wasa a PR journalist on breakfast tv this week who said it was important to keep re-appearing regularly in the public eye or else you are forgotten. Strangely on the same programme but later they interviewed Shaun Williamson who played opposite D in Guys and dolls and asked him the same question. He agreed with the PR journalist and said it was important to keep re-appearing on tv or popping up somewhere every six months or so or else you would disappear and be forgotten.

TWO middle-aged men called Simon with dyed hair and high waistbands don’t immediately sound like material for a titanic battle. But when millionaire music moguls SIMON FULLER and SIMON COWELL go head-to-head this week for silverware honouring the greatest music executive ever, I predict the gloves will definitely be off. On Wednesday the two Simons are up against each other at the 50th anniversary Music Week Magazine Awards in London. Both music bosses — Fuller at 19 Entertainment and Cowell at SyCo — are nominated along with 18 other industry legends for a pretty incredible bragging right. Whoever wins will be able to say they are the pop guru judged to have made the greatest contribution to the music industry in the last 50 years. That title would go well with the Bentley, eh gents? And there’s plenty of history between the two to make it a tasty scrap too. Fuller and Cowell were embroiled in an ugly court battle for months over the similarities between Pop Idol and The X Factor. Bitter A source said: “There has been some bad blood between them. Things have cooled over the last few years but they are still bitter rivals. They are fierce competitors, always have been and always will be. “Simon Cowell always likes to distance himself from awards ceremonies. He has nothing to do with the Brits, for example. “His argument is that he would much rather have an act at the top of the charts than be picking up some silverware at an industry bash. “He would love to get one over on Simon Fuller though, and vice versa. They are competitive men and want to win in everything they do. “Fuller is a lot more private than Cowell, but he would love a victory at the Music Week bash to be as public as possible.” The best thing about the ceremony is that both Simons could go home empty-handed. A panel of industry experts compiled a shortlist of 20 names spanning five decades in British music, including LED ZEPPELIN manager PETER GRANT and THE BEATLES producer SIR GEORGE MARTIN. Cowell is tied-up with American Idol auditions in Los Angeles, but Fuller is expected to make an appearance at the bash in Grosvenor Hotel, London. For all the success they have both had, it’s worth remembering this — Cowell gave us STEVE BROOKSTEIN and Fuller gave us DARIUS DANESH. There’s hope for us all.

I agree there are things it would be nice to know on the working front and surely to his benefit. To put out an album with absolutely no buzz as it were would be no good and that is how it appears to stand at the moment. He said a while back he was working in canada, it would have been great to know on what front that was i.e. singing, writing, acting etc. I mean Baytree might have been there at the time.!!

The thing all three seem to have in common is they live in california.I do remember Daniel saying at the time he started out that he would give pop music two years. Perhaps they are writing for other people.

Thanks for the article about Aria meg and nice to see D pictured as well. There is a report that Natasha Bedingfield has married at Malibu California with 150 guests and wondered if D was there as he was very friendly with her and her brother Daniel. Nice to see she walked down the aisle to Mendohlsons wedding march and not a pop song!!! Maybe some pictures will surface.
