Bits and Pieces 5
i have a vague memory at the back of my mind that a few journalists and djs of this area support a certain person who I believe appeared at party in the park type gigs there. - just appeared at the racecourse close here and the two radio stations are based in the area he attended uni. and he is played frequently I remember also when I saw Darius at Plymouth at a gig with girls aloud when he was at his pop peak he did n ot warrant a mention in our local paper That was the only gig D has done in the south west in the last ten years apart from Butlins at minehead. He did B ournemouth on his tour nd that was well attended. I believe someone said D did an interview with a manchester paper which was OK considering the journalist didnt like him. There must be a reason why certain areas appear no go.It is strange how some artistes do well in certain areas, I remember last year going to se Jane mcdonald in concert at Torquay and I was astounded, we had to fight our way through the foyer to get to our seats, there wasnt a seat in the place and she had many many standing ovations, she is perhaps not everyones cup of tea but she is extremely popular and that seems to be everywhere.

quote meg - I'd just love him to be ultra successful have management who did tell us what he was booked to do and be appreciated for his talent. I have to admit this management appears gig wise to be very much more o n the ball though although it may have been his choice otherwise whilst in LA.

Just a snippet according to Dig.spy, if you happen to watch the xfactor matt cardle is reported to be singing Hit me baby one more time - perhaps this is a windup as one of the females is reported to be singing the monkey song from the jungle book.

quote baytree - From tonight's Evening Times. no mention of the tour perhaps because the Scottish legs are over? However that doesn't explain why they didn't mention him in last week's Time Out video or in the List on Tuesday night. I have to agree with what Maria says, I looked for a mention of his night at Kings but nothing in the DR or evening times yet there were mentions of obscure people like a candidate rom BB and the Sun mentioned Matt goss doing a concert here along the lines of Ds etc. Considering it was such a full house you would have thought they would cover it but whats new.

History of the Big Bands TOUR staring Darius
Well I for one wish he would confirm, it is causing me a lot of bother because three of the dates are within striking distance of me albeit not close and have toyed with the idea of Eastbourne which is a long way for me and would be very expensive and I could then find the dates near me confirmed afterwards which would be annoying and as Baytree says the tour could continue with someone else fronting it. So think maybe I should give it a miss and just wait and see.

I havent seen much about Woking, not even on their theatre website amongst forthcoming events.

Darius singing at Wimbledon shopping centre
Thanks I would have thought there would have been posters up advertising the tour itself because I presume that was the point of it. Awful for that to happen.

History of the Big Bands TOUR staring Darius
Does anyone know if the dates listed earlier in this thread for early and spring 2011 have yet been confirmed and if D is part of it. Two or possibly three are within striking distance of me. I did wonder as he has been so busy that he may reconsider those dates.

Just been poking around, don t know if this has been mentioned but dont think so - mat monroe website - Website http://www.mattmonro.com/ - scroll under forum called the lounge and there is a number of posts concerning Darius himself quite complimentary about him under sub heading history of the big band.

Star Radio North East
I also would love a cd of his singing at the mm concert. Keep listening to it on the radio site.

Matt Munro Concert
I would absolutely love to have gone away to listen to again and again also from russia with love and t he other two also but it seems a bit of the same scenario when we wanted a dvd of his tour it never happens - I really think if he got to sing that on tv it would be like popstar to opera star again and open a few eyes and ears. I would be more than happy for the last two in particular to surface on an album.

Matt Munro Concert
I listened to the whole concert, thought Darius was amazing particularly like If you go away because it showed his range and would love that on cd. However was quite shocked at MM Junior who to me sounded off key a lot, off timing and stretching for the notes sometimes. It would have been great had it been on tv.

I really think that it is very important that his name is shown i n promoting this tour or it becomes a bit like a tribute band and I dont understand why his name is not there.

Regarding burlesque, there appear to be a number of burlesque music artistes, could he be referring to that and not the context we are thinking.

- I think the word history is wrong also, makes it sound stuffy = do wonder if these PR people know their job - promotion promotion with DS name included is what is needed and drop the word history.

Quote - we pay attention to detail. I hope that means better promotion than GWTW as a number of the theatre sites quote Big band tour but not Ds name with it and that to a lot of people would be the draw. Burlesque - wonder if that meansa Dita Von Tees is under their banner. At the moment it doesnt look if I will be going to the tour, husband is adamant it is too far, nothing this side of the country south. Was hoping for Bournemouth. I see Pat on the my space has contacted them about the same thing. It is very one sided tour of the country.
