Snippet froM wos re Andrew lloyd webbers show to come, a follow up to Phantom of the opera which he is writing at the moment. Post on WOS - AWL was at GWTW, talent spotting. and Darius Danesh's name has cropped up after his acclaimed performances in Chicago, Guys and Dolls and GWTW. Having watched the video of his performance of Bet Middlers from a distance on his myspace page I could see him as having the command and stature to play the role and his voice has deepened and matured somewhat, Phantom does need someone with presence. Wonder who the poster is. My thoughts on that are that this is another new show which may not be guaranteed success.

Quote surrogatemum - I've booked to see Rhydian in Manchester in May, but like you it's Darius I really want to see. I also am thinking about booking for Rhydian for plymouth but also its D I want to see. Rhydian however has done well, his album has gone platinum within four weeks without a single being released from it and therefore no airplay. I believe several of his tour venues are sold out so I might be unlucky.

So sorry to hear your news Baytree, so sad for you near xmas. My thoughts and sympathies are with you. The flu does drag you down as I had it also for three weeks during the xmas period and am still not right. worst bout I have ever had even though had a flu injection recently. Have missed you so glad to see you back. I imagine it is very cold up in glasgow as it is very cold down here in the south west when usually we get off lightly.

Hotel Babylon
Isnt it strange, the daily record have a write up on Nigel Harman and his career which in a way D paralles i.e. acting and singing. They say in the write up - As well as Plus One, he has just finished shooting Hotel Babylon. He plays a businessman, Sam Franklin, who ends up buying the hotel when his ex-wife Juliet (Anna Wilson-Jones) joins as general manager yet the Daily record dont mention their own Darius being in hotel babylon.

I have to agree with what PIP says, there is a lot of ridicule elsewhere about artistes who DONT write their own material yet he does but the press will still have a go.

What's on Stage
Apologies for not having been here of late. My computer and my husbands have both been down since last thursday, it has been so frustrating. My son has been trying to sort it out since then and I have just got back on line. I also dont think it a good idea about voting from other sources on here for the same reasons quoted.

Bit more from broadwayworld - Trevor Nunn is to direct a musical version of the classic Audrey Hepburn movie 'Breakfast At Tiffanys' which is posed to open in October 2009. He wants to bring together the same team s he had for this years wondrously disastrous 'Gone With The Wind'- without the Dr who wrote the music we can only hope! He is quoted as saying that he can't let 'Gone with The Wind' ruin his reputation as a director of musicals!!! 'CATS' anyone? He's bound to leave the ill fated 1960s Broadway bound version alone as that has such a bad history he really should start afresh if he's going to try and carry this off.

Sorry meg Im, not really with you, b it thick after xmas. Audrey hepburn played Holly golightly and george peppard played the male lead in the film. I enjoyed the film at its time but when it wa on again recently felt it was dated and felt the storyline was pretty fragile but its just a rumour at the moment.

Oh dear - World-renowned director Trevor Nunn is rumoured to be bringing Holly Golightly to the West End with a stage adaptation of cult film Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Originally released in 1961, the film version is based on Truman Capote’s 1958 novella of the same name and stars Audrey Hepburn in arguably her most memorable role. Reports claim that Nunn is about to secure a deal which will bring a musical version to the London stage in 2009. Worryingly for Nunn, David Merrick’s 1966 New York production of Breakfast at Tiffany’s remains one of the most notorious disasters in the history of Broadway musicals, closing after just four nights. It remains to be seen whether Tiffany’s famous diamonds will prove more profitable for Nunn, who recently had a high-profile flop of his own when his stage adaptation of epic film Gone with the Wind closed on 14 June 2008 at the New London theatre after only 79 performances. And that is not all Nunn has to worry about. The mystery surrounding who will don Holly Golightly's iconic shades and cigarette holder is sure to set tongues wagging all over the West End for months to come.

A bit more from the Stage - Producers of West End musicals continue to be undeterred by the whitening skeletons of previous mishaps. The New London Theatre had the unenviable task of hosting two flops in succession in Gone With the Wind and now Imagine This. There were the usual defiant messages from the shows’ producers, pointing out that the audiences who had turned up had been wildly enthusiastic. One never ceases to wonder at the boundless optimism of producers that seems to blind them to the extraordinary difficulty of making a successful piece of musical theatre. Lessons will be learnt, politicians invariably intone after some public scandal. If only. There is a lovely picture of Darius and Jill accompaning the above report.
