Have seen her on loose women twice and she was a hoot. She has such a personality. m y friend has met her seversal times when she was appearing in Torquay as she used to go to the same beach cafe and even there she was a hoot clearing the tables and and shouting out the orders although she was just staying nearby.. She is appearing in panto at either swansea or cardiff but she is playing the dame which is a bit unusual but she will be good. She is getting on a bit but still the same energy.

I liked the theatre once we got in but I did feel its position is not good, its a bit off the beaten track from the other theatres and we did have difficulty in finding it and then as Baytree says you feel a bit isolated when you come out rather than in the hub of things.

Saw Flashdance last night. Surfice to say I wouldnt like D to do it. A lot appeared to be on tape especially some of th chorus work. The background is very sombre - a steelworks - very loud and the leading lady was replaced by an understudy whose voice I couldnt stand, it was very much wa wa like donald duck and jarred my ears. Noel sullivan from Hearsay had a reasonable voice but only one song and just a lot of standing around. In spite of that he got the best response at the end. My local critic who I usually go by said he was outstanding whic h to me was a joke as he didnt have much to do. The dancing was strong if you like hip hop- lots of arm waving and break dancing but not much footwork. The one song that was strong was what a feeling. I have to say yet again that my fair lady and oliver done by the amateurs was far far superior in talent.Thats the second show on tour for me that didnt cut the mustard. However Shout starring Sue pollard I enjoyed mainly because she is capable of carrying a show on her own and has a huge singing voice.

There is a new show at the New london theatre where GWTW played, its called Imagine and its getting also poor reviews. Someone has said is the New London going to be the cursed theatre as the Picadilly was.

A bit about john cohen. He is arguably the uks leading producer of crossover music. When not producing classical music, Jon is a prolific songwriter and collaborates with many of the industry's top writers. He has had songs recorded by The Backstreet Boys, Darius, Triple 8 and many others. Jon has also written music for a number of Films including Against Nature(2004) and the multi award winning Holes In My Shoes. He has done a lot more connected to the sevices like he is at present doing in iraq. This is probably quite wrong but didnt Darius feature in a War child album early in his career.

Thanks Baytree and Nakull, it was lovely listening to those, love tear run dry. So wish they had a wider audience.
  7. quote - meg -Talking to the cast, it seems that media publicity was left very much to Darius. oh dear is that why we arent getting any news or just even a mention like other actors get.
  8. Gareth seems to be keeping very busy - from the sun today GARETH GATES has landed the lead in West End musical Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. He takes over from LEE MEAD in January. But first he’ll play Prince Charming in Wimbledon Theatre’s Cinderella. No time for a new CD, then? A case of Any Job Will Do . . .
  9. The songs of praise format yesterday was different in that there were a number of solo songs from musicals and the audience participation was mostly being chorus during some of the songs. However what has annoyed me is that yesterdays show was picked up by WOS and they discussed the performances. Was tempted to mention that D had been on last week and supply a link to you tube but didnt know how to.I felt yet again hes missed out on self promotion, it always seems to happen.

Hello sister mother, used to be on your site - saltern. welcome.
  11. I enjoyed it but noticed craig chalmbers who I said had a weak voice didnt sing. However there wasa a fantastic performance from Steve balsamo who sang Gethsemane from Jesus christ super star, apparently he originally appeared as the lead in that show but he was brilliant and I had seen on WOS that he was the best - he put his all into it and had tears running down his face at the end.A difficult song with a lot of range including a lot of falsetto.

Thanks meg, it was there a couple of minutes before I posted. It was about rachel stevens and was not a good write up for her, said her website had closed because of no news but she was hoping strictly come dancing would bring back her career, how she hd hoped to break USA acting wise and she was very ambitious but it wasnt coming off, I actually thought for her Roxie in chicago as she sings and dances, mentioned simon fuller etc but it was not a good write up, mabe thats why it has been pulled.

You may find this very superfluous but I think it makes interesting reading into the career of someone under the same management as D. and who was based in USA and uk.It is from the daily mail and is very long. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...e-Dancing.html - it should be underlined but hasnt come up as such.

Did you see oliver on children in need last night and also hairspray with michaeol ball.I realise that you do have to cater for people across the board and oliver, grease, fame, possibly flashdance which I am seeing next week, mamma mia etc etc probably cater for the a lot of he younger generation and perhaps we are going through a phase where people want get up and go type musicals with songs that they recognise.l However I wonder if GWTW had been faster paced things might have been different although it was always going to be an american based story which might have done better in the US to start with and then come here although I loved it as it was.

Ditto to what PIP says. Surely D would be just right for Asia. He was well received in India during the Colouiblind era. I also would love it to resurface.

Morag you will soon get used to it. I found it daunting at first. There is still lots of information getting posted when we can get hold of it. Welcome anyway.
  24. Best bit ive see n also. Next week Im off to see Flashdance with Noel sullivan from Hearsay. I did wonder if D may have had a chance with the version of sunset boulevard but according to WOS Dave willets is playing the male lead. Now I can have issue with that because I saw him recently in the lead in south pacific and there was to me absolutely no charisma or stage presence and the same can be said for the female lead Helena blackman who both my friend and I thought was weak but it hasnt stopped her being up for a WOS supporting actress award. I found both those -performers weak especially after seeing the next week the amateur production of my fair lady which in the local critics reviews was on a par and worthy of the westend and it was. The leads were way above the former two,.The differen ce also was the amateur production put everything into it but I felt the others went through the motions.
  25. Do you know it is strange but I have at the back of my mind a conversation that D had with Seal when he first started out at around 20 yrs when he said to Seal after his first album he thought he would get several years off, five I think was mentioned and seal said it doesnt work like that. However it will be coming up to five next year since the last release wont it. Still guns and roses and Jason donovan are releasing after 15 years so large gaps do happen.
