I dont know about timetable but there are a lot releasing before now and xmas. Dido is releasing her first album for five years shortly. Presumably because she is well known she can get away without much promotion. However I dont undersatand why D disappears for long periods without media coverage, dont think that is a good thing. I think Natasha must have him wrapped around her finger but still dont understand why other artistes manage to cope with all aspects ie career, gigging, etc etc. Have you seen the thread on DM re this.

What should you be doing ? (4)
It must be catching we have been having trouble with our heating system and the boiler. We are also like Baytree up and down to my sons house who is having an extension built and it is chaos, mud everywhere and I am helping with their washing as she doesnt have a line up at the present whilst this is going on. My daughter and her family are this week at euro disney Paris. she phoned me yesterday morning and it was as clear as a bell much clearer than when she is home. It is busy down here as this week is regatta for both Torquay and Dartmouth with the red arrows for both. I hope meg has the problems with father in law sorted, it is a worry.

It is strange how we all differ. I have loved musical theatre since a child and thats a long time ago. I think it started with me doing dancing classes as a child and going to watch a very high calibre dance festival they have here every year for all kinds of dance, ballet, tap etc etc. However just love the theatre generally but it is strange because I loved GWTW much better than guys and dolls yet one does read that guys and dolls is considered a great musical like Baytree in parts I found myself fidgeting mainly because of the story line which ocasionally dragged for me especially when D wasnt on. Of course great songs do come into it. I didnt find chicago dragged at all. However although I loved the music of les mis I found the background etc depressing. ditto phantom. I think because a lot of younger people have been introduced to musical theatre through the tv they are looking for the feel good factor, ie. joseph, starlight express (hated it) hairspray etc. Some musicals also seem dated, south pacific was and west side story when I saw them recently but my fair lady was brilliant (amateur production but equal if not better than westend)and has stood up well but also it depends on the producers take on it. On the other hand saw the film, mama mia and didnt understand what all the fuss was about but again the feel good factor kicked in for a lot of people.

It does seem to be that the feel good factor has something to do with it. Baytree will remember me mentioning last year a singer actor from my home town called Glynn kerslake who did a concert here for a cancer charity locally. He had played the lead in the westend in Phantom, miss saigon, sunset boulevard, les mis etc. Anyway here is here again next sunday again for the cancer charity and I am going. He has a fan tastic voice and is a fantatic pianist so am looking forward to it. He has a female harpist wih him also and some others with westend experience. However he was playing Long john silver in treasure island at the derby playhouse when it closed down but it has reopened as it was saved by I believe a consortium and he continued in the part. Cant imagine him doing this part as he is nothing like that to look at, good looking etc. The wonders of makeup.

Isnt it odd they dont mention Natasha, at least I think it is as she is the girlfriend of a british popstar. Anyway the latest from WOS RE Marguerite with ruthie henshall The Theatre Royal Haymarket’s ambitious West End venture - a year-long season of productions helmed by a single director under the theatre’s own commercial flag - will end in disappointment next month, with the closure seven weeks early of its final offering, the world premiere of Michel Legrand’s musical Marguerite - raising doubts about the viability of future in-house programming. Marguerite was meant to bring the season to climactic – successful - conclusion. However, despite impressive creative credentials (in addition to Legrand’s score, it has a book by Les Miserables’ Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schonberg and English lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer) and being cast to the hilt (with Ruthie Henshall in the title role, opposite Julian Ovenden and Alexander Hanson), the show opened to lukewarm reviews and, like the two plays that preceded it, has struggled at the box office (See Review Round-up, 21 May 2008). Wonder if it will get called ruthie henshalls flop musical!!!!

Sorry, pressed the wrong key by accident. Meant to say poor meg does seem to be having a dose of bad luck at the moment. Hope things get better. Yes my neighbour is amazing for his age, they only got back from a few days in kent before they flew to south of france and have been back a week or so and are off to london, its as if they have to pack in as much as they can now.

So sorry to hear of your situation re your father in law. Hope it is resolved. I dont know much about medical matters although I have spent long periods with my daughter in hospital. My next door neighbour had a similar experience which has been resolved with antibiotics and he is 94. and he is here there and everywhere, just returned from the south of france. He loves the sun and is depressed if there isnt any. Hope you get it sorted.

Seeing as Bramley has mentioned Ds height, there is an interesting thread on WOS entitled - Musical theatre does height matter. I remember with guys and dolls Louise Dearman was tiny, however with GWTW jill waas reasonably taller and they looked very balanced. I do like to see a reasonably tall leading man and its great if the girl does balance.

quote Julie - On another note, it is such a shame that Darius is not appearing at ALW's 60th birthday celebration in Hyde Park or Don Black's 70th at the London Palladium!!! It would have been a wonderful chance to show the public how versatile his voice is - I bet if GWTW was still running he would have been there!! Duncan James is listed as a 'West End Star' yet D still gets called 'Pop Idol singer' (the Daily Star the other day!!) and Ryan Malloy and Matt Rawle are both performing at the Palladium. It all seems so unfair!!! ONWARDS AND UPWARDS DARIUS!! - we're waiting for your next announcement! I have to agree with what Julie says in spite of D being tied up with GWTW I doubt he would have been asked. ALW does have his favourites, John barrowman is appearing as is Rhydian from the x factor and others virtually on ther label used by SCs artistes. D has not appeared in a show under the ALW banner has he. I immediately thought the same as Julie re Duncan James but he had a No.3 it record as a duet singing an ALW song from the woman in white. but he has little experien ce in the westend. I also thought the same about the Don black concert and feel that D should be doing thi9ngs like this but perhaps he doesnt want to,.

Not the rocky horror show please. Something more compelling but perhaps a feel good factor (thinking of what the public appear to want) but I dont necessarily but it seems bums on seats is the main factor at the moment. A film would be lovely.

I used to buy it regularly only because they were most likely to have celebrity gossip but I stopped after his quiet period however I always look at their gossip column and yes yesterday I didnt, typical and I bought the mail instead hoping to see it there. Sad isnt it but its nice to see him in the news.Perhaps it will make hello or OK mags.
