On ITV1 they are showing the best of the alan titchmarsh show and they showed Darius singing his italian song he wrote himself with the harp accompaniment. It was great to see it again.

From that point of view they were able to promote those albums/tours but D had nothing to promote., thats what I dont understand.
  3. Paul Potts was on the concert at the albert hall together with Rhydian etc.etc.He sang Nessun dorma, its on utube.

I agree it is a great forum but not one that the general public would realise is here. and therefore could be losing fans. The sugababes have a forum on their official site . It is a shame that sonnets site did not carry on, the forum was great. Although perhaps a forum on the official site would be good it would not be anywhere near as good as Sonnets was.

Perhaps D will get an invite.
  6. Well I hope D is not doing this show, there is a long thread slating it on DS and it seems foul and disgusting language is the highlight.

    Thanks Sharon, good interview.

I loved listening to Darius on that, it was like listening to him on the radio. I wish they had commented on his performance but perhaps not, the opera one was so patronising but its the same for the theatre, if you havent gone through stage school etc etc. Thanks Baytree..
  9. I cant stand that bloke either.

My feeling in all of this, management included is that he is being treated as a beginner again. Having to keep playing small gigs or charity gigs (nothing wrong with that) but they all seem minor compared to some of the other crossover artistes engagements like the albert hall. I didnt expect this after he won PSTOS. Instead I expected things of a higher calibre to be announced, maybe some of the artistes dont like comparisons. I wouldnt like him to have to face a chart battle again and looking at crowns site that seems to be their perogative.

The lincolnshire echo only has a brief mention on the theatre event but at least the place was packed. The all new Lincoln Theatre Royal opened its doors to a variety gala which was met with rapturous applause from guests and loyal fans. The intimate theatre in Clasketgate, was packed to the rafters on Saturday night. Dressed in their finest, the audience cheered acts including recent winner of TV's Pop Star to Opera Star, Darius Campbell; new star on the classical scene Camilla Kerslake and old hands, Bobby Davro and the current Rat Pack gang from London's West End.

I had a quick look a Crown managements home site. It looks very pop and chart based and looking at the pictures of the staff they looks mostly young.I wonder how much experience they have of crossover artistes. Their artistes are laid out in rows up to nine and Darius comes in row six in smaller letters most of the ones above him I have not heard of and ditto the ones below. The sugababes take top billing followed by the one I did recognise only for the fact that she sang a covent garden when Darius was on. Gabriel Climi.

Quote from Meg in the bits and pieces thread - really want to give back to those people who have allowed me to be where I am and I’m going to do that through a new album and tour and a really exciting 2010. I’m so excited about my new album – I’m working on it right now and it’s a much more mature record. It’s fits somewhere between Michael Bublé and Josh Groban and it’ll hopefully be ready by the end of this year. Regarding the first sentence - not if we dont know about it it wont. second sentence - the momentum will be lost by the end of the year, new artistes via xfactor etc etc.plus it has been talked about for years now but no mention of label. Most official sites have a forum dont they if you are currently in the public eye.

I picked this up a month ago but didnt post it. However now seems pertinant. This was posted on a site for people in the music industry only about a month ago. , JLS could have released ' how much is that Doggy in the Window' and got to number one. And got the airplay. That is not what i am talking about, the geat British public are fickle. If they are going to build an international career they need a bleeding love and soon. They run the risk of turning into Darius and not Leona. They also need to act like stars and move on from the X factor smaltz. .

I know, I really dont understand what is going on.The other thing I wonder is the record contract. I notice Charfotte church has a new contract, some fishermans choir from cornwall have but we dont hear details of what D actually has and I notice the other acts on the bill at ayr are not signed. I really cant undertand why it has been six years since live twice and now when a good opportunity has arisen its put back again.

That would be great but will that happen in view of its being said on the net it will be dropped on TV here but what do they know.

I agree with Baytree. Another opportunity missed.

Thanks meg. I think if I was his management I would try and cash in on that somehow.

Oh yes I had forgotten that, maybe someone will persuade him to sing.

isnt it this weekend hes at the Fate awards in Ireland, but I dont see him mentioning it on his facebook. Perhaps its because its sold out.
  21. I wish ther album had been released shortly after the programme finished, he had had a lot of promotion during that time and a lot of people would have bought it no mattter what, thats the impression I got from speaking to a lot of the public.
  22. My other problem with the pop days is that he didnt get airplay with live twice and it could be back to square one again. I say this particularly as having seen the Sugababes are under the same management and it is reported that their album charted at 14 at the weekend and yesterday it wa 35 and today between 35 and 40. and thats with lots of promotion. His management will surely be wary next time. Wouldnt want him to go that route again.
  23. I wouldnt sit through a full opera either but I loved the arias he did on POSTOS. They were fairly short and were very popular with the public. I noticed with Non piu diu at covent garden that the public were clapping along at the end and he got a great ovation so why not a couple at least on the album. I would put their titles with in brackets POPSTARTOOPERASTAR, The public would then connect with them.

Im glad he is very busy meg that is the main thing.
  25. I think the wild pop days are gone by, he has matured in performance and age but I am not sad about that as I am getting to hear the real voice. I know what baytree means about getting out there and not musical theatre but I do feel that performing is one of his major strengths together with the voice thats why I loved Popstar to opera star as I got to see both, however it doesnt have to be opera.A little story from last week, I took three spare copies of Ds singles to sell and separated them from the other cds I had, within five minutes they were sold to a gentleman of about 50 who said he loved him and would buy his album when it came out, however, I think he will not be expecting pop because of the programmes title but not necessarily expecting opera more of a mixture and that programme has defin itely made him known to more of the public. The power of tv.
