  1. The chart commentary returns after last week's technical problems. It can be found from the front page or the latest news box.
  2. Tactical voting can happen without a formal pact. Voters can see for themselves who is best placed to defeat Tory MPs and opposition parties will concentrate their efforts on seats they can win. In my home county of Sussex (East and West), Labour will ignore Lewes and Eastbourne while the Lib Dems will do nothing in Crawley.
  3. Congratulations to Rollo and many thanks to Houdini for running this.
  4. That didn’t go well for the Tories.
  5. It’s on BBC2.
  6. He says at one point that the treatment available on the NHS wasn't good enough. He didn't say that it should be.

The Americans are not signed up to the ICJ, so the obligation to arrest him doesn’t apply in the USA.
  8. I know all the bands and have seen half of them live. I don’t recognise all the song titles though.

This episode was easily the best of the three so far. It was also the one that relied most heavily on a good script rather than Disney-financed special effects.
  10. Arsenal 2-0 Everton Brentford 0-2 Newcastle United Brighton & Hove Albion 3-1 Manchester United Burnley 0-2 Nottingham Forest Chelsea 2-1 AFC Bournemouth Crystal Palace 1-2 Aston Villa Liverpool 2-0 Wolverhampton Wanderers Luton Town 1-0 Fulham Manchester City 2-1 West Ham United Sheffield United 1-0 Tottenham Hotspur
  11. My first choice was too early
  12. The first music from the new album is expected to be unveiled in the middle of June. We should find out the theme of the album at the same time. I'm going for the periodic table.
  13. The Divine Comedy – National Express The Chemical Brothers – Let Forever Be Supergrass – Moving Buffalo Tom – Going Underground / Carnation Carnation was actually by Liam Gallagher and Steve Craddock
  14. Unfortunately my PC died on me this afternoon. As it would have taken ages to type it on an iPad and would be littered with typos, I am unable to provide the usual service. Should be back to normal next week. For the record, The Code and the Croatian song were two of the best Eurovision songs so I’m pleased to see them both in.
  15. Suede – Saturday Night PF Project feat. Ewan McGregor – Choose Life Faithless – God is a DJ Eels – Susan's House Ash – A Life Less Ordinary
  16. I enjoyed most of the episode but the musical number at the end was diabolical.
  17. Saturday 11th May Fulham 0-3 Manchester City (12:30) West Ham United 2-1 Luton Town Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 Crystal Palace Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 Burnley Newcastle United 1-2 Brighton & Hove Albion Everton 2-0 Sheffield United AFC Bournemouth 3-0 Brentford Nottingham Forest 1-0 Chelsea (17:30) Sunday 12th May Manchester United 0-2 Arsenal (16:30) Monday 13th May Aston Villa 1-3 Liverpool (20:00)
  18. Owen Jones demonstrates what is so wrong with the left of the Labour Party. He gives the impression that he would prefer opposition to a Labour government that he can only agree with 50% of the time. He claims to support people on a low income, but by refusing to support a Labour party that agrees with him on everything, he is doing exactly the opposite.
  19. This week's ramblings can be found from the front page or the latest news box.
  20. Producer Steve Albini has died. My choice for an RIP slot song would be 50ft Queenie by PJ Harvey
  21. It's always good to see people accepting that they made a mistake.
  22. A date a couple weeks earlier would be better. Holding it in half-term week means avoiding closing schools for a day to use as polling stations. From a purely selfish perspective, I would be able to keep my record of staying up for every general election since I was able to vote.
  23. Very little attention has been paid to the fact that the Lib Dems, on a significantly lower share of the vote, won slightly more seats than the Tories. The BBC described their 100 gains as "modest" while making Labour's 10 gains sound like a massive triumph.
  24. Given a choice between Ben Houchen and Andy Street, I would have preferred Street to have bee the one who manged to hold on. He seems to be genuinely motivated by what is best for his region. The Labour winner's speech and Street's concession speech both strengthen that belief. Houchen's main aim seems to be to line the pockets of his mates with public money.
