  3. Back in 2018, when Theresa May (remember her?) was PM, the government said thay would be introducing legislation to ban conversion therapy, i.e. attempts to "convert" people who identified as gay or lesbian. Not much happened for years although successive PMs continued to say they supported the measure. It is now being reported that Sunak is dropping the legislation. Hard-right nutjobs on the Tory benches have ensured that it will still be possible for people to insist that lesbians and gay men can somehow be converted and charge people for they "services".
  4. The scoring system was rather weird. It meant Abba's winning score was very modest.
  5. It's been said many times that the UK gave Abba no points. However, it has to be remembered that each country could only vote for five other countries. The UK was by no means alone in giving nothing to Abba.
  6. The Spanish jury are reporting from the Moon.
  7. I'd forgotten that Mouth & McNeal's I See A Star was also a Eurovision song. I remember it being a hit, but had forgotten it's Brighton links.
  8. Interesting to see that the show started at 9:30 which would have been 10:30 in most of Europe. Some very 1970s Eurovision songs so far (including ON-J for the UK) with Spain and Greece both entering songs that couldn't have come from anywhere else. David Vine's comments about the Yugoslav entry were decidedly odd. He speculated whether they would sing in English or Yugoslavian. There has never been a Yugoslavian language. I assume they were singing in Serbo-Croat as it definitely wasn't English.
  9. Jiust starting to watch tonight's BBC4 repeat. I wonder who's going to win
  10. Bayern Munich were 2-0 up at half-time at Heidenheim but managers to lose 3-2. Bayer Leverkusen won 1-0 at Union Berlin. They know only need to win one of their last six games to win the title.

I think someone had a seizure. We were told at the end that they were OK. It dampened the mood for a bit, but it soon picked up again. If they weren’t at the Dome, I would probably have gone to Eastbourne.

Wouldn't the Dome have been a better venue? That's where I went!

    An excellent choice!
  16. The album is, of course, fabulous. The opening track is very Vampire Weekend - starting off in unspectacular fashion before going full-on bonkers. That's why I love them!
  17. Tuesday 2nd April Newcastle United 2-0 Everton (19:30) Nottingham Forest 2-0 Fulham (19:30) AFC Bournemouth 3-1 Crystal Palace (19:45) Burnley 1-2 Wolverhampton Wanderers (19:45) West Ham United 2-2 Tottenham Hotspur (20:15) Wednesday 3rd April Arsenal 3-0 Luton Town (19:30) Brentford 1-2 Brighton & Hove Albion (19:30) Manchester City 2-1 Aston Villa (20:15) Thursday 4th April Liverpool 4-0 Sheffield United (19:30) Chelsea 1-1 Manchester United (20:15)
  18. A dramatic day in their Bundesliga. With minutes to go, Bayer Leverkusen, unbeaten all season, were a goal down at home to Hoffenheim. Two late goals gave them another victory to take them 13 points clear of Bayern. In the late kick-off, Bayern, who had scored 13 goals in their last two league games, lost at home to Borussia Dortmund. So, with just seven games to go, Leverkusen have a 13-point lead. Three more wins and they end Bayern's title-winning run.
  19. I bought Denis when it came out
