The UK #2 singles listening sessions
Actor Joss Ackland has died at the age of 95. He appeared in the video for the Pet Shop Boys' version of Always On My Mind. If there are no other claims on the RIP slot next week, can we have this?

The Official Labour Foot-Shoot Thread, Mk II
Yes, it's definitely politics. Starter, understandably, doesn't want to open up a rift with the USA, particularly when he is currently in a position where he has precisely zero influence over what happens in Gaza. At the start of the week, Ed Davey finally spoke out in favour of a ceasefire. I suspect that most Lib Dem members will support that position, but Davey has the luxury of being `able to ay it knowing that, barring a substantial decline in Labour's lead, he won't be in government after the election. It may even persuade some Labour-leaning voters in the so-called blue wall to vote Lib Dem, thereby consigning a few more Tory MPs to oblivion.

The Middle East Today
There were hundreds of thousands of marchers on Saturday. Inevitably, there were a few idiots, including those displaying vile anti-semitic slogans. Those few idiots were not representative of the vast majority.

The remastered Red and Blue albums are amazing. The remixes make so many great songs sound even better.

The Middle East Today
The majority of people arrested yesterday were right wing nutjobs protesting g near the Cenotaph. That is despite the fact that the peace marchers overwhelmed them by a huge margin. Well over 99% of the peace protesters marched peacefully and caused no trouble. The same cannot be said of the counter-protesters near the Cenotaph. The latter group are the ones who showed a total lack of respect on a solemn weekend.

The Middle East Today
Israel controls supplies of water, electricity and other essentials. It is a blockade. Netanyahu has no interest in a two-state solution. He wants to do everything he can to ensure it never happens.

Europa League 2023/24
Another great win for Brighton :cheer: The once-mighty Ajax have now failed to score against Brighton in three hours of football. Every other opponent this season has managed to score at least once in half that time. The result means Brighton should finish at least third, thereby remaining in European competition into the new year.

The Middle East Today
Israel controls what goes into and comes out of Gaza. Israel controls the supply of essentials such as power and water. That doesn't fit into my definition of "independent".

The Middle East Today
Both sides are breaking international law. The fact that Hamas broke international law multiple times on October 7 doesn't excuse Israel doing the same in response. That's before we look at Israel's multiple breaches before October 7.

The Tory fibs and fabrishications thread, Mk III
Charities generally don't give out tents to homeless people. Therefore, not for the first time, this government is aiming for good headlines in the tabloid press by proposing to ban something that isn't happening. I have said in the past that Braverman is pure poison. I think I might have been too kind.
