The Middle East Today
“Between the sea and the Jordan there will only be Israeli sovereignty.” That comes from the founding charter of Netanyahu's Likud party.

No they don't. And the amount of aid being let in is a small fraction of what is required.

The Middle East Today
I want to have a civilised debate. However, that is difficult of you cannot accept that destruction of innocent people's homes amounts to collective punishment.
-
The Middle East Today
Destroying homes regardless of who occupied them is collective punishment.

European Football Leagues Thread 2023/24
Bayern Munich v Darmstadt was goalless at half-time. Bayern ended up winning 8-0. Harry Kane scored a hat-trick, including one from beyond the half-way line.

The Middle East Today
In what way do you think collective punishment is not a war crime? BTW, you haven't addressed my original question.
-
The Middle East Today
It doesn't matter who is the aggressor. War crimes are war crimes.
-
The Middle East Today
Collective punishment IS a war crime. Both sides in this latest conflict have committed numerous war crimes.

The Middle East Today
I didn't say that Gaza was an occupied territory. However, Israel's occupation of Palestinian territory helped to lead to the disaster that is Hamas. Israel's response amounts to collective punishment. That is a war crime and will only serve to increase Palestinian resentment against Israel. If an election had been held in the Palestinian territories last month, Hamas may well have been defeated. Now they would probably win a landslide.

The Middle East Today
What do you think will be the predominant response of Palestinians whose homes have been destroyed, along with the possessions they had to leave behind? Will it be a) "Well done Israel" b) "It's a bit of a blow, but life goes on" c) "I hate Israel and I'm more determined than ever to get them to leave the Occupied Territories" d) "I hate Israel and I want to see it wiped off the face of the Earth"? I suspect the predominant feeling will be c). However, a significant number will go for d) which is a route to further suffering and disaster. Which leaves approximately 2.3 million people (including 1 million children) who are not Hamas. Previous figures from the ministry (which are accompanied by lists of the dead) have been accepted as broadly reliable by, among others, the UN.

Boris Johnson is getting a show on GB News. The title Would I Lie Too You is already taken so the channel will have to call it something else.

The Music Chronicle 1984
My copy has arrived. Flicking through it randomly, I came across the piece on the. Bournemouth International Centre, a venue I have attended many times, both for gigs and Lib Dem conferences so I had to read that first! Excellently researched as ever.

The Official Labour Foot-Shoot Thread, Mk II
Starmer's original statement was, at best, clumsy. Whether he meant it or not, he gave the impression that he thought Israel could withhold essential supplies from Gaza. From an experienced lawyer, that would have been an extraordinary statement. His attempts to clarify his thoughts have also been rather clumsy. Given what happened under Cornyn, Starmer is understandably cautious, but he has to be clearer in stating that BOTH sides have committed many acts in breach of international law.

The Great British Bake Off • Series 14
Saku and Christy were very lucky that one of them didn't go. They were both well behind the others. They only survived because Tasha's Signature meant that she was also in danger, had she been able to complete all three bakes. I have nothing against them, but I hope one of them doesn't end up winning just because one of the rounds was filmed on a very hot weekend. After all, the judges don't go easy on a contestant because their otherwise brilliant bake melted.
