Political/History Books
Yes, there were definitely some oddballs in the team. A large part of the book is made up of pen portraits of them. They were, of course, all men. After all women (over 30) hd only had the vote for five years at the time of the election (December 1923).

It should be available at places like Waterstones although you may have to order it.

Political/History Books
I'm reading The Men Of 1924 by Peter Clark. It's about the first Labour government in the UK which took office in 1924, published to mark the centenary. It isn't actually published until next week but I have an advance copy as the author is my uncle. It's not at all heavy, so anyone interested in political history should enjoy not.

The Tory fibs and fabrishications thread, Mk III
Sunak has claimed to have looked at the costs since he became PM and decided current net-zero policies are not affordable. Leaving aside that the long-term consequences are even less affordable, he clearly hopes that nobody will notice that he was a Treasury minister (effectively deputy to the Chancellor) at the time the commitment was made. In other words, checking that it was affordable was his job.

The UK #2 singles listening sessions
Roger Whittaker deserves an RIP slot. We've already heard The Last Farewell as a number two single, so Durham Town or New World In The Morning would be decent choices.

Lucy Letby
She has the right to seek leave to appeal. That is a fundamental part of a fair justice system. Whether a judge grants her permission to appeal is a different matter.

I'm gobsmacked :o I knew I had satisfied the entry requirements by entering a very guitar heavy song, but I didn't expect it to win. As far as I know, this is all they ever released :o
-
Nuggets XVI
That's the one I assumed was entered by PopChartFreak until I realised he didn't take part

Mr ray's Wigworld are the only band so obscure that, when I went to see them live (in a pub), I arrived in time for the sound check

You definitely need to listen to their earlier albums, just to find out why I keep going on about how good they are!

The Suedehead Chart Commentary
Oops :o The OCC story the albums chart left out Slowdive. I had to wait until they published the albums chart before posting yesterday. I couldn't work out how they could have gone from top five to nowhere in two days

✨ BJSC 157 ✨ FINAL RESULTS
A mid-table position in the final for a cover of a 1970s prog-rock song is a pretty good result in my book. The number of people who included it in their votes or commiserations at least means that very few (if any) people hated it.
