  2. I live in North Carolina (a usually Republican state) and it is considered a swing state this election, with Obama currently in the lead. I have an Obama/Biden sign at the end of my drive and have my fingers crossed that I will live in a Blue state on November 4th. I have my fingers crossed, but a landslide for Obama may be just around the corner.

  4. I don't think that it has anything to do with the downloads being added to the charts. To put it simply, the recent spate of indie bands just do not compare in the slightest to some of the past (and still going) indie bands. I believe that Oasis, Pulp, Blur, Suede, etc would be just as big in the new download era as they were when they first broke onto the music scene. I just don't get that excited anymore about some of the newer indie bands, but I could just be showing my age.

The last 10 years must have been really expensive. It looks like adding downloads is going to return Number 1 turnover to normal (70s, 80s, early 90s) standards, so it should at least become a little cheaper. ;) And I guess this means we have you in part to thank for keeping Bob the Builder at No. 1 for the 2nd week.

Smash Hits magazine is 100% responsible for my addiction. Back in early 1988, they started to print an empty Top 20 chart at the back of the magazine that you had to complete whilst listening to the Top 40. I used the magazine for about a few weeks before going out and buying a notebook to start writing them down instead, including all 40 records ..... something I did by hand for about 7 years, before switching to computer and I have been doing it ever since. The fact that I am employed as a Statistician may also have something to do with why this has been my biggest habit (hobby) since I was 15 years old. Oh, and Aswad (Don't turn around) had just replaced Kylie Minogue (I should be so lucky) at No. 1 that first week that I got hooked. So, although I'm getting older - it's nice to see Kylie is still around getting older with me. :w00t:
  13. I wouldn't rule out Leona for a 4th week at Number 1 next week. That said Kylie's song knocks spots off the Spice Girls' disappointing comeback song - starting to wish they hadn't bothered. As such, my vote is for Kylie. However, I think it will be Leona again next week.
  14. 24th October 1972 UK: Lieutenant Pigeon - Mouldy Old Dough US: Chuck Berry - My Ding-a-ling Aus: Popcorn - Hot butter All novelty records, long before they were a regular thing in the charts - How proud am I? :P
