Was he planning do do "Pop type gigs" at any point this summer then? Just that although saying he was planning some summer appearances, Jan D said we shouldn't necessarily expect the same type of gigs that he's done in the past - I think I took that to mean (maybe wrongly though) that he wouldn't be doing the Pop type gigs anyway? Plus, people who are performing at these types of mixed gigs and festivals etc... are usually promoting current/forthcoming releases anyway, so unless Darius has a release imminent, then I wouldn't expect him to be doing those types of things anyway really? Anyway, if there's one thing I've learnt, it's that 'plans' can and do change for all sorts of unforseen reasons - If Darius is in creative mode - of the writing type, then I think he should stick with it for the time being - even if that means no appearances for a while. It's only been 3 months since he did a full on stint in the West End. I'm sure too that if there is anything set in stone gigs wise (of any type) over here, that we will get to find out about it somehow or other. I understand where you're coming from Baytree. I tend to feel that Darius is probably not particularly keen on some aspects of being involved in the "mad promotional stuff" related to the Pop Music/Charts too - or maybe that's just me that hasn't enjoyed seeing the way things can be sometimes - but the way I tend to look at it, is that Darius has been on an emense and very hectic journey of various ups and downs over the past 6 years, with a lot of pressures involved, so I suppose I tend to think that after all he's been through and experienced, that he might want to aim for more of a balanced life-style these days too. I've wondered myself sometimes, where does he go from here? - I think one day Darius will probably be more behind the scenes, but I don't think he's ready to step right out of the limelight just yet. I think Darius enjoys performing; and I also still think that writing songs and singing them himself, is just a part of who he is naturally anyway. So whatever else he might do (I don't think he necessarily has to just stick to doing one thing), he can take other opportunities as and when they come up too, whilst continuing to write songs as he's going along. However long it takes between albums and I do think there will be another Darius album - Darius has said himself, that he's writing for another album and I've no reason to disbelieve that - I'm just not expecting him to rush one out though. Darius said himself, that he was uncomfortable with the pressures/demands of the record label - so, at least he has that pressure off him now - but the relationship with Mercury ended prematurely, when he signed to them, I think it was originally intended to be for the duration of the 5 albums really, things seemed to go well at first, but things changed and in the end it didn't work out that way. Who knows whether parting company with Mercury is straightforward - there may still be residual things to sort out in that respect for all we know? It also means though, that Darius will need to find another record label at some point in time, I've certainly not heard anything about him signing another deal with anyone else and I think, if he had, we'd have heard about that too. Who knows what's going on in the background, anything could be, but Darius will know and be doing whatever he needs to do, I'm sure he will. But even if all in that regard is sorted, hunky-dorey and "under-wraps" - you can't force creativity, it will happen as and when it does, so I just feel myself, that maybe it's better for him to be away from demands and pressures of any label for a while. I don't know what Darius thinks or wants, but I know that if it were me, I wouldn't be in any great rush at the moment to be signing on anymore dotted lines, least not until I'd got a big bank of songs together that I was really happy with myself anyway. But anyhow - whenever it is that everything comes together again in a way that's positive for Darius - I think he'll be back singing and performing his own songs for us - until then, we've just got to wait - patiently

Agent Provocateur? :D ;) Was it Concord something, or something? - I'd know if someone said it, at least the name of an agent I'd heard of before would ring a bell - but I don't know about now though See, more fingers in the mud pie ;)

Well on 19's website - Brilliant 19 is linked as one of their "associated" companies, they are clearly linked, but I don't know whether that makes them 'answerable'? specifically in terms of artist management? - I think that's the point, or question I was asking really - do we/does any of us, really know what any of it really means as far as Darius is concerned? - It's confusing enough as it is to me, without inter-changing the names 19 and Brilliant 19 or simply referring to the two differently named companies as 'them' :D I don't think management-wise, Darius is a 19 artist though - otherwise surely he would have a profile on their section of the website and he doesn't, he appears only in the Brilliant 19 section + as I said, there wouldn't have been the mention of Simon Fuller releasing him from his management contract with 19. Whatever difference that makes, I don't know - but there must be a difference though surely? Recording Contract-wise, it might be a different thing though? because although Darius's CDs cite Brilliant 19 for copyright - Darius has said that his recording contract is with 19 Recordings - so does that mean his management and recording contracts are actually two different/separate things? or does it mean that Darius uses the terms 'Brilliant 19' and '19' interchangeably too? - again, I don't know  :D I don't think Brilliant 19 have ever had a large roster of artists have they? I wondered if that had anything to do with why Darius signed with them? i.e. so he would have a more hands-on manager and not be just another horse in a large stable?
  4. I love it - it's lyrically superbe - so true, so funny
  5. A Kilt with a Fly - and it's all your fault Pat :P

I'm sure there is - I can't say I'm very fond of the Music Industry from the bits that I've learnt - so I might be glad I don't know the half of it  :P I just feel confused sometimes when people start talking as though they expect 19 to be doing things for Darius in the same way as they do for their other artists, as it was my understanding that he was released from his PopIdol contract with them by Simon Fuller and instead signed a different type of contract with Brilliant 19 - I'm not sure whether the twain meets in anyway, but if it was the same thing, then there would have been no point in releasing Darius from the original contract surely?
  7. I think that Meg is right in the sense that if you're choosing one for someone else, it might depend on what other type of music appeals to them, rather than what appeals to you - though I'm not sure if I can think of anything that bridges Darius with Will Young B.P. ... not sure? ... but one single song to represent Darius musically, isn't really possible with the range of styles he's done, so I do you think you'd be best aiming for something you think that individual person might like :) Have they not already heard Darius's commercially successful songs - B.P. - I'd have thought that a Will Young fan would be fairly familiar with Darius already? Mocking Bird was the song that got me hooked into Darius in the first place - it was the only proper Darius song I knew for ages - so, that one that got me hooked anyway :D - But I really don't know what I'd choose now though - been spoilt for choice since then :D - I still haven't been able to choose my favourite track off Dive In anyway  You could maybe go by the poll results so far: Dive In Track - ? I don't know 'cos I've not voted, so I can't see the result - is it Mercury Rising? Dive In B-side = Tear Run Dry Live Twice Track = Secret Song Live Twice B-side = Faith in Me They are the current favourites of a tiny number of Darius fans who've voted on here at the moment ;)

    Can I have a double-album please? :D I'd like it to have two CDs - Rocky-D and Mellow-D
  9. I've still not done this :P - Everytime I think ... 'such and such' my next thought is immediately, oh but what about ... I can't leave that one out! :D I just really love so many songs on this album

Butterfly Spirit - I think this one really suits him/the situation as we know it to be at the moment :)

I know that some videos seem to have been taken off YouTube, but it's seemed to me, to be newer stuff pre and current releases; and 'official' videos/footage, that I've noticed disappear. I imagine people just upload what they wish to generally and if YouTube receive complaints, then they probably just take it down and maybe delete the account - but I don't really know if they would do that - particularly if the footage taken is your own. Either way, I doubt very much anyone has been in any really serious trouble over it though, otherwise, I think it would have made news headlines - like with illegal downloading. I personally think it's good exposure for Darius to have his music and live performances on places like YouTube - if I had some of my own footage that was good, I'd take my chances and stick it on there anyway, like other people have done. I don't think I'd ask for permission, because that might mean whoever I asked might have to say no, whereas what they don't know, they don't have to object to ;) - If it were mine, I'd take my chances anyway :) Yes, it does look black in Madame Cholet's sig - shame, I liked being Colourblind :D ... black, navy whatever, he still looks cute in a bobby though ;)
  12. :jump: - well it's the closest thing I could find to a sheep  - I like Urban Hymns - Bittersweet Symphony is one of my favourite Verve songs, I didn't even know it sampled the Stones - so that's not my reason for liking it anyway :P I really like Sonnet as well - but my absolute favourite is The Drugs Don't Work

Really? - I've always thought it looked Navy Blue on the photos too - maybe I'm Colourblind then :P :D I'm only teasing ;) Ok then :) I've not noticed any unpleasant comments on there so far, I've just got used to rating and commenting that's all. From Darius's point of view, I think it's probably more important with the music/performance videos anyway really :)
  14. I'd add to your list, two other things: 3) Economic corruption of pharmaceutical industries and governments of other nations. 4) Environmental Issues. Whilst I do agree that the root causes of these problems need to be address properly, I think public awareness and eduction are still important and do make some difference - so, I think these things like RED are worth doing and should continue.

Mocking Bird (with the free it lyrics :P )
  16. I've just edited the title and first post of this - otherwise peeps that have already done the previous one might not have realised it's moved on :D
  17. Maybe Dario is his new American name :P :D Generally though, the ones who don't know who he is, are probably American based reporters and photographers - I expect they just submit their copy without checking who Darius is, because often if the feature is about something in the US, it's Natasha who's the main focus of their attention there.
  18. It's gone! - I missed it
  19. You might think you know the answer  but I'll answer for myself thank you! I don't think she's the best vocalist - but I won't insult you for having that opinion yourself :D I do like Alison Moyet's voice though, there were, people I didn't rate at all. But, I was judging on a combination of singing and songwriting, with the emphasis on the latter. Even so, everyone has different tastes in both singing and songwriting styles - if we all like the same thing then, this whole forum would consist solely of discussions about one artist
