Keane - Is it any wonder & Atlantic
I heard it on the radio today - sounded good, thought it was a bit early to be on radio yet though.

OASIS OR BLUR
Are Blur still going then? If they are, I'm not aware of any recent songs  I wouldn't call either of them/their songs rubbish, some of the songs some people have referred to as rubbish I really liked anyway, just personal opinion that though. I've like stuff by both groups, but Oasis have had many more songs that I really like (and am aware of) - so it has to be Oasis for me :D

The recorded Under My Skin is a live version too from the Dive In tour (Glasgow) - wish it had been on CD instead of a tape, because I haven't listened to it for ages - I'm scared of playing it in case it gets chewed up (my only copy) - Have any of you got a copy of it on CD/on PC please? Didn't he do a medley of Kiss mixed with something else on the Dive In tour? I've just listened to the Oran Mor Kiss today on Clyde 1 ... can't remember it at Fauldhouse though, but my memory is like a sieve today  I can't remember seeing Time of Your Life on TV either - I heard it recorded Live from Forth One I think it was on Jill's site, just after PI - what TV programme was it on and is there any footage anywhere? - would love to see it :)

Carry On Films
I don't know - what's or who is Vic Flange? - I'm assuming that's a 'character name' It had the usual team in it - the hotel collapses on the lot of 'em and the big tall guy (can't remember his name Bernard something?) ... is an amourous Monk :D - if that helps? :P

What's The Definition Of Pop?
I was just in the Indie/Alternative forum reading the Rooster thread and found myself back in 'Pop' ;) :D - but this is something that I've been thinking about on and off for a while - particularly since reading articles about the apparent decline in 'Pop' and James Blunt winning best Pop Act at The Brits - it's all got me wondering how we define genres... I suppose I'm more inclined to see Pop as being Girl Bands, Boy Bands or Solo Artists that 'perform' as opposed to writing their own music; playing instruments; having a band. But, I also see some types of music-sounds as 'Pop' irrespective of what I've just said too ... so, I'm a tad confused I guess  So tell me folks - Is there a clear definition of Pop? and what does Pop mean for the rest of you? :D

Keane - Is it any wonder & Atlantic
It's Quality not Quantity that counts for me ;) :D

Your favourite track from Live Twice is...
Ok - I've got to give this one a go now ... Not that keen on Stars Crash Down I enjoy Devil in You, and I think he's done really well to capture that era/sound as well as he has - it's very authentic, I was convinced it was a cover of an old standard when I first heard it, it's not a track that moves or stirs me though. Save Me, Better Man and Resolution all have parts I don't like - but I love other things about them, so it makes it frustrating to have a mixed relationship with these songs - ... these are 3 that I'd like to know more about who's idea was this, or that etc... lol! I really enjoy the upbeat numbers How do you like it?, Love to Love & Kinda Love  - loved watching the footage of love to love live too - especially with that long hair! If I Could - this one got my attention right away, when I first got the album I really love the music, the instrumentation/strings do it for me  Live Twice, I love that too and Only You as well. I think it's always been between Journey's End and Secret Song for me though, right from the outset and still now they are my two favourites ... how can I pick just one of those? :( Right 'tis done ;)
-
Your favourite track from Dive In is...
Oooh those are 3 of my favourites too  I really don't know how I'm going to do this poll - I love Dive In - favourite changes all the time :( - who's daft idea was it anyway? :P

ColourBlind video
What's "a fan pleaser"? I liked the Girl in the Moon video because of it's simplicity and the focus being on the music/band. But Colourblind is still my favourite one - I know what you mean about being able to watch them anytime, but not doing. I don't watch the music channels much either though, so it's nice to know it was featured on TMF ... it seems to get an airing on there quite often - in one thing or another :)

Clyde 1
Yes I think it is ... at least she tells it as it is - well he's not perfick - but it's nice to see postive comments especially about his talent :D

What's the third album going to be called??
Things aren't always what they seem... More Smoke than Mirrors Illusions ;)
-
Your Questions for Darius - post them in here ...
Where was your ball and what colour was it? ;) :D
-
What's the third album going to be called??
Well the answer would be contained within the album - so it's not a bad title really :D
-
What's the third album going to be called??
Oh yeah  - I'm not a fan of hers, so that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it :P Darius has already given a few hints as to what he may have/might have been writing about ... he said something about not caring if it seems cheesy to sing about love and seeing good in things - can't remember exactly, but I'm sure someone can find the quote I'm thinking of. Also the jazz-ier/ethnic influences are types of clues-ish :P But last time I was expecting 'rock-ier' and then things changed and the album changed - and so, I think that's why I'm not letting my mind wander about anything really, I'd rather just wait and see and try not to have any expectations myself I think. I'm not even expecting anything, anytime soon, that way I'll get a nice surprise whenever something does happen I suppose lol! :D

PI cover versions
Yes, I used to think that Darius often chose songs with messages/something that meant something to him/that he wanted to say to people :) I think there were glimpses now and then - like when he was cooking, or relaxing in his dressing gown at the health farm - or even falling on his bum! ;) - but it was a worrying time for me Pam PopIdol :P - he looked a whole lot different too - especially when it got to the final 50  ... Gosh I remember how worried I was that they seemed to be stripping him of all the things that had made him seem unique and interesting to me during PopStars  - it all seems so funny to have worried looking back now  I enjoyed Darius on PopIdol - but I think listening now to the songs especially, my enjoyment was probably more about just wanting to see things come good for him - nothing he was allowed to do on that show compared to my MP3 of Mocking Bird - so I'm stuggling a bit trying to decide which of the PI songs I like best and more so since we've been spoilt with so many really good songs of Darius's since then. I like different PI ones for different reasons I think - sometimes the 'song' itself has an influence and sometimes it's other things - those messages etc... So, I'm going to waffle on for a bit about them before midnight - see if it helps me to decide :P Future love Paradise I liked - obviously with no music - it's not the best 'overall song' to listen to - but it just seemed sort of 'Dariusey' to me - so I just really like it for that aspect I think. Something Inside So Strong - I loved. I especially loved it when he sang it to the press audience during the rehearsals - awe  I thought it was a really good song choice because it said it all at the time. I think Baby Can I hold you - seems to be the best one from the finals shows in terms of a natural sounding vocal range for Darius to my ears - so, I think that's my favourite sounding one from the finals weeks. I really enjoyed Let's Face the Music ... it's not my preferred Darius genre/style - but I do think he's good at it though and I just enjoyed that performance. I think Let There Be Love is good too and because I have a proper recording of it, rather than a TV captured one - in some ways it sounds a lot better - but I still enjoy Let's Face the Music more I think ... just makes me smile/feel happy :) - I wouldn't have minded hearing a recorded version of that. Well actually I'd probably like to hear a properly recorded version of all of them - but I still don't want an album of PI covers though lol! ;) I quite enjoyed What the World needs now too - and I remember an advert using that song came on TV - think it was advertising holidays? ... shortly afterwards - coincidence, or just very clever of them to tap into the PopIdol audience's psyche? I don't know, but I liked it all the more because of that too I think lol! - and he's right - the world could use a little more love ;) I have a Dream - another appropriate song for Darius ... So I liked this one too - it's not an amazing song, but he sounds nice enough singing it though :) When a Child is born - was nice too. Whole Again - I have mixed feelings about - the beginning seemed to be pitched a bit low and I don't think it does Darius's voice justice, but it improved as it went along for me. Another appropriate song choice in a way and it's a poignant song - and had another poignant meaning for Darius too and I think you could tell that - there's something about it that draws me to it and yet I don't think it was his best vocal performance ... well I don't think any of them were come to think of it. Make it Easy - I don't think this was Darius's best song vocally either - it feels like he's singing in his boots to me - I think it's too low pitch-wise really. But I loved it though - because it was obvious he was leaving and I was one of the daft beggars with tears running down my cheeks too ... if this is Goodbye  - it was daft, but because even though you just sort of knew it wasn't the end - we didn't know what would happen next, so it was at least a temporary 'Goodbye' I played that song over and over and over and felt the emotion for a good while - but it doesn't make me sad now though. So, on the one hand I loved this for the poignancy, moment and emotion of the night, I also like the song for it's own sake, but I don't think it's Darius's best song vocally though ... so how/where will I rank it? ... I don't know? It's not unusual - he sings this one really well I think - it was a fun song and I think he enjoyed that aspect being able to 'perform' a song more physically - so I enjoyed it from that point of view too ... it's a cheesy-song though and the start of the knicker-explosion I reckon :P - I never really saw Darius as a Tom Jones-alike style artist myself though ... so again mixed feelings about this one - it's good for a laugh, if I don't take it/think about it too seriously :D Dancing in the Moonlight - when I listen to it now - it actually sounds ok - better than I remembered anyway. It's designed for a group with backing vocals/instruments etc... not really a lone solo performer though - it's a song for a band. It was a popular song charts-wise and on radio, but it was a wierd choice for that night for a solo performance I thought. I think Darius did reasonably well with it and tried to fill the void that not having a full band/instrumentation around him - left him with by trying to engage the audience... but it just didn't work for me - I knew he was going home watching that anyway, it just didn't allow him to do himself any justice - so, I've mixed feelings about this one, because I think my memories of the night make me think it was worse than it actually sounds to me now - but still not a favourite though. So, I suppose I've worked out what my favourite ones are ... Something Inside So Strong and Baby Can I hold you tonight - but I've no idea in what order to rank the rest though

So was the 1970s the most important decade then?
 thank you Dearie :P :D I managed to catch some of it - brought back loads more memories :D Vesta curries :puke2: 'foreign' :P holidays - amongst others, we went on package tour to the West Indies courtesy of Freddie Laker (RIP) - the airline went into liquidation whilst we were in mid-flight to our destination. We landed in Ganda to refuel and the captain was told to turn around bring us all back home, but because the longhaul crew enjoyed a weeks break themselves at these destinations he wasn't having any of it and he carried on to St. Lucia :cheer: - well he knew they were all out of a job anyway ;) We didn't know any of this at the time though, but when we arrived they told us what had happened and said they didn't know how or when they were going to get us home, in the end we were 'rescued' by another company - I don't think we wanted to be though :( I would have been happy to stay there forever doing the 'Bump' to 'Rock the Boat' :P :D Loads of good memories flood back, but much as I was proud of my flares, platforms, hotpants etc... - I'm not proud of being part of the origins of 'consumerism and a throw-away' society' though :(

2002 Records Of The Year
 I didn't mean it that way lol! - I just meant that you referred to the 'artist' instead of the 'song' for Darius, whereas you referred to the 'song' in Robbie's case ... it made me wonder whether, consciously or unconsiously, it wasn't the song, so much as 'Darius' that you didn't want to see win - But maybe there's something even more subconscious going on than that then heheh ;) :P
